Witches in the Weeds by Lila Dubois

Witches In the Weeds (Elemental Covens Book 1) by [Lila Dubois]

4 Stars

Nimue Mahkah’s the eldest daughter of her coven.  It is her job to take care of all of them but something is causing a blight on the family’s crops.  She decides her best option is to kidnap Harris Barclay from another coven to try and fix the problem.  The kidnapping goes off without a hitch and Harris doesn’t mind Nimue taking him.  He’s willing to help her even though she could have asked.  Harris may be fine with being kidnapped but his family isn’t.  They hire someone, Trajan Dixon, to track down the kidnapper and save Harris.  The problems start almost immediately.  They each have different kinds of magic and they aren’t supposed to perform magic at the same time.  This leads to some interesting new magic being discovered.

This was an interesting take on witches.  My biggest complaint was at times it was a little slow.  I also wanted a little backstory on the world building.  It felt like things were explained because something came up that needed to be explained.  I still really enjoyed the book and want to see where the next book is going to go.
