Pink is the New Black by Vella Day

Pink Is The New Black: Paranormal Cozy Mystery (A Witch's Cove Mystery Book 1) by [Vella Day]

3 Stars

Glinda Goodall has lived in Witch’s Cove, Florida forever.  She works for her aunt in a Tiki Bar Grill where you regularly see her aunt talking to her dead husband’s ghost.  Glinda has her familiar to keep her company when she’s not working, her pink iguana, Iggy.  Everything is going along nicely until the sheriff is murdered and her best friend’s brother is accused. She is determined to find out who murder the sheriff even if it reveals secrets that people don’t want revealed.

I wanted to like this book.  It sounds interesting and funny but it ended up not being either.  It seemed discombobulated in the telling of the story.  It jumped around a bit and made it difficult to keep track of where we were in the story.  I don’t know if it was just because it was the first book in the series so there was a lot of set up needed but it just wasn’t working for me.  I will read the next book and see if it is better because I’ve read other books by Vella Day that I adored so here’s hoping it was a one off and the next book is way better.
