Reaper Unleashed by Debbie Cassidy

3 Star

Hidden threat has been revealed. Fee and her men are in for a major fight to take out the bad guys. There will be blood and deaths. Will Fee and her men make it out alive.

This book is the last one finally. The final book focuses more on wrapping up the series instead of Fee and her 6 men. This is good and bad as we don’t get a good look at the relationship between Fee and Uri/ Fee and Keon as those are the newest guys to the harem. I loved the fact that even after Fee saves Lilith’s life, Lilith still tries to kill her. One of the best parts about this book (though some will disagree) is that Fee doesn’t end up with Conah. He was a dick through most of the series and I just didn’t like him.

Her Darkest Devils by Ginna Moran

3 Star

Raven’s soulmate is dying, and she can’t save him. He has to fall and take over a portion of hell. While dealing with this Kase, Dante, Micah, and Andre want Raven to take Lucifer down a peg and put him in his place. Will Raven be able to do everything she needs before it’s too late?

This one frustrated me so much. If Raven had just done what she was supposed to do things wouldn’t have gone so wrong. The she blames Lucifer for all the problems when it was HER fault. In this book she’s too stupid to live. The fall of the angel in this book is the same as it was in the first two books, and it is getting very old. Plus another cliff hanger ending.

Kraving Tavak by Zoey Draven

4 Star

After the death of her mother Stella needs a new life. She decides to make a new life on Dumera. When she sees Tavak for the first time she wanted him, but his attitude doesn’t make it seem like he’s interested. Tavak had been abused by human woman and wants nothing to do with them until he meets Stella. He’s wants her but isn’t sure he can get passed the trauma. Will he work through his problems before he loses her?

I really enjoyed this book. I liked Stella and Tavak. Your heart goes out to both of them as they both had trauma they had to work through. I was really looking forward to their HEA. Tavak is working through his trauma and Stella is trying to find her life after the death of her mother. I liked reading the journey they took to get to their HEA. This one worked well with the rest of the series and I kinda want more.

Her Deadly Angels by Ginna Moran

3 Star

Raven discovers that Lucifer is not being honest with her or her other men. Will she be able to get another angel to fall and take over another part of hell?

This is very good one. There is a major “twist” with Lucifer being out to take over all of hell and so even though his whole plan was to create multiple rulers he no longer wants that. Raven and her guys have to take him out while she still has to get another angel to fall. The part where Raven is working on getting another angel to fall was literally exactly like the last book and that was disappointing. Worst part is the cliff hanger ending.

Alien’s Prize Bride by Nova Celeste

1 Star

Cordelia didn’t plan on being a debt collector and she hates the work, but it pays the bills. She hopes for a more exiting life and gets what she wants. Milavaxian scout ship decides to take her as a grand prize for a gladiator competition. Anuh normally wouldn’t dream of entering the competition but when he sees Cordelia, he must have her.

This book is an idea. It is not a complete story. It’s a wham bam thank you ma’am book and not a good one at that. It’s 48 pages and it shows. The only good part about this is it was in kindle lending library and I didn’t pay for the book. The descriptions doesn’t match with the book itself and it’s not worth the time it took to read this and that was all of 20 minutes.

Her Personal Demons by Ginna Moran

3 Star

Lucifer believes that hell needs to be balanced out and for that to happen they need more angels to fall. He can’t make them fall but he knows how to do it. He needs a woman to entice the angels to fall. He forces Raven into being that woman. Her boyfriend wants her dead and tries to get Demons Case and Dante to do it. She is given an option to make the angels fall or be tortured by her asshole boyfriend. She agrees to be the catalyst for the angels but isn’t sure she’s up to it.

This is one of those books I wasn’t sure about when I started to read it. I ended up liking it but didn’t really like Lucifer and his machinations. By the end of the book Raven isn’t as wishy washy as she was throughout the book. She was all in for Case and Dante. Rant forthcoming. What the FUCK is with all these cliffhanger endings authors are using. 100% hate the cliffhanger ending.

You Can Run by Rebecca Zanetti

4 Star

FBI agent Laurel Snow is about to board a plane to go back to DC when she gets a call from her mother that her uncle is being investigated for being a serial killer. Instead of heading back to DC she heads home to investigate and profile the killer. She is tasked to work with former soldier Huck who trusts no one. Will they be able to track down the serial killer before they strike again?

I need the next book right now. This one ends in such a way that it leaves loose ends that need wrapping up but was amazing. We don’t know who Laurel is going to end up with but there are hints. There were several twists and turns I didn’t see coming and I enjoyed every minute of the read. Definitely worth reading.

Reaper Unhinged by Debbie Cassidy

3 Star

The world is ending if Fee and her men don’t find a way to prevent it. There are many obstacles they need to get through to save the world and there is no guarantee they will all survive.

This book felt like a filler book. Nothing really progresses in this book. Reapers get kidnapped, Fee saves them, and acquires another man to love on. It was incredibly slow book but at this point I need to know how the series ends as there is only one more book to read.

Shattered by Laurann Dohner and Kele Moon

3 Star

Desmon mated his Amber when they were young. He wanted her and he would have her. The only thing standing in his way was his uncle who hated all humans. When his uncle Albert forces the issue by stated she could only be claimed via the old way Desmon was forced to choose. He chose to keep Amber safe and walked away with the female werewolf figuring he had time to explain later. He couldn’t explain and years later Amber is back. Desmon is determined to make her listen and stay because he doesn’t want to be without her ever again. Will he be able to get her to stay or will outside forces keep them apart?

I didn’t like this one as much as I liked the first one. There was more world building which was good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of Amber. She just rubbed me the wrong way throughout the book. Then the big climax of the story she is kidnapped and forced into a change. Then the people who are supposed to police the weres literally are going to allow the attackers to keep her. WTF HELL NO. They give her no say in the matter and the Nightwind Pack gets a slap on the wrist for not turning her over. So, any of these wolves can go and change a human woman and they get to fucking keep her HELL NO. Overall, it was an ok book just I had issues with some of the book.

Reaper Undone by Debbie Cassidy

3 Star

After the death of a friend leads to a broken alliance Fee and her men need to find out who murdered the bride. They need to work together to track down the murderer and keep the world from complete chaos.

I am tired of Fee getting a new mate every book. Every new person is a new mate. Each of her mates then get upset because they really don’t want to share her to begin with and now there is someone else, they have to. Fee is also a really bad friend to Cora. She puts her in danger and asks her to do things that Cora doesn’t want to do. But it makes Fee’s mission easier, so Cora has to do it. It was nice to see Cora pushing back on some of the requests, but it wasn’t enough. I’m too invested to stop now.

Runaway by Susan Copperfield / R.J. Blain

2.5/3 ish

With the heir of California abdicating to marry his lady love and move to New York to be King there Cassandra is living a nightmare. She is one of Prince Thomas' only remaining employees and she has too much work to even think. She has a memorial service and a coronation service to plan. Once these two things are done will her life settle down into her new normal or will her life get even more interesting?

I wanted to like this book more. It pulled me in and I didn't want to stop reading but about halfway through the book, it just fizzled for me.

HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE MAIN PLOT OF THE BOOK IS DON'T CONTINUE READING.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Once again we have Cassandra's parents being the bad guys. In almost everyone of Copperfield's books they start with the parents seeming to be good parents and then wham bad guy. Cassandra was kidnapped as an infant and was raised to be a spy and eventually help overthrow the royal family. It seems like in most of Copperfield's books she really hates parents. What surprised me about this is Cassandra is never made to confront her parents. Not to mention when the royal family confronts those responsible for all of the mayhem we are literally watching it on TV not actually experiencing it. Then the book ends and there is no closure at all. It just kind of a let down. I also realized once I was done with the story it was a lot of making plans and not actually following through with them and lots of shopping. Overall, it was okay and there was a good idea within the story it just was missing too much.

Reaper Unveiled by Debbie Cassidy

3 Star

Lilith invites Fee and her men to the underealm and they can’t say no. They must go to attend a wedding that will form an alliance. Will they all make it out alive?

In this installment we finally see movement on the overarching plot of Lilith so yay! Boo on yet another cliffhanger. Why do authors think this is a good model to have for their books? In this book we get some movement on the plot and not just Fee getting more men added to her harem. If not for being so far into the series and almost done I would have given up on the series with this book.

Cursed by Laurann Dohner and Kele Moon

4 Star

Alpha wolf Jazz thought he lost his mate when they were teenagers. He knew his father had taken her, raped her, and thought he had killed her with the help of his enforcers. After he and Desmon took out his father and enforcers as teenagers they spend their days managing the pack. He plans to never mate anyone as no one will ever compare to his mate. When a female hunter shows up and takes out one of their wolves, he will track her down to see why she killed one of their wolves. What he wasn’t expecting was a ghost from his past. She no longer goes by Marcy but Shawna. She barely survived Albert’s assault and to stay safe and heal she ran. Now she takes out wolves that abuse those they should protect. Jazz has his mate, and he won’t let her go no matter what. When trouble comes for the pack will they be able to figure out a way out?

I loved these two. I figured out that Shawna wasn’t dead in the last book as no body equals, she’s coming back. I can see why she wouldn’t want to come back and be known before now. I loved seeing them work through their issues and come together to protect the pack. Overall, it was a good story with a good flow. It matched with the previous two books and I want the next one now and not whenever they get around to releasing it.

3.5 Star

With the death of her former friend Lucas Fee is in danger. They can’t prove his death was not her fault and done under duress. The only sanctuary she has is with the pack but that comes with other perils. She won’t be able to ignore all her responsibilities anymore.

Fee being wishy washy in this book frustrated me. She never thinks through her actions to see what will happen if she does something. She accidentally mates a man she hates and doesn’t remember doing it. She is now stuck with him forever and doesn’t handle it well. She’s pissed and storms away from her protection and shock of all shocks ends up in even more danger. Overall, this has been my least favorite book of the series.

4 Star

Katy is working on keeping life together. Her house was destroyed in a fire. Worse her mother was caught in the fire and has massive medical bills. Her twin sister Emily is always getting into trouble and needing to be bailed out. When she gets a call from her sister saying she’s stuck and needs Katy to fly to Europe and sign some documents pretending to be Emily the whole way. Katy begrudgingly agrees as this will help pay off their mother’s bills. When she arrives, she meets Ryker. Katy doesn’t know it, but Emily was supposed to meet him and sign a marriage contract with him. Ryker knows she’s not Emily because Katy is his true mate he’s been looking for. Will the secrets break them apart?

Kind of hoping this turns into a series. I enjoyed them coming together and working through their problems to find their happy ending. The book flowed nicely, and I am now interested in checking out Becca Brayden books as she is new to me. Really really hope they make this a series, and we get more books set in this world.

Reaper Uninvited by Debbie Cassidy

3.5/4 Star

Fee is working with Grayson and the Regency Pack to try and find missing people. She hates and lusts after the alpha. When he is taken by the vampires, she will get him back no matter what.

This book starts right where the last one ended. Once again Debbie Cassidy ends her book on a cliff hanger ending and it is very frustrating. This one ends with a very violent death of a character and that was hard to read. It was interesting to see some of Fee’s men avoiding her and continuing relationships with others considering how they felt about it. They weren’t with Fee yet, so it didn’t bother me as they were trying to prevent a relationship. I was also right about Mal/Conah/Az. Thank all the gods the whole series is out, and I can just continue with the next book. I am sure they will all end on a cliffhanger.

Planning on spending some time with her friends Brandi wasn’t expecting to be kidnapped and hunted. Brandi pulls off for gas and ends up in the woods being hunted by werewolves. Being the shock of being hunted is werewolves are real and they want her. When Jason hears screams in the woods, he rushes off to stop whatever it is. He takes out most of the rogue pack and saves the woman but is now stuck with what to do with the woman. When he accidentally triggers mating heat in her when he healed her, he now has to give her a crash course in werewolves and break the news to her she’s, his mate. How will she react, and will they take out the rest of the rogues?

This was a good story. I enjoyed seeing Brandi protect herself anyway she can. It was hilarious when she took out one of Jason’s pack mates for trying to mate her when she was a hard no. Jason stumbling through explaining everything to a human was amusing. The book flowed nicely but needed some more world building as things are left out that might help explain why things were the way they were. Overall, can’t wait for the next book.

Emmie has just inherited her grandmother’s bookshop. She was planning on selling it until she got there and realized she just can’t part with it. To reopen it and make a profit she needs to come up with something that is different. She decides to combine her bookshop with a tattoo chair when she meets Miles (Ox). She plans on keeping it strictly business, but he worms is way into her heart. Will they make it work?

I wanted to like this more than I did. Ox was a dick throughout this book, and he doesn’t really atone for it. At one point his mom is sick and in the hospital. He cuts off all communication with Emmie even though they had plans. Doesn’t let her know what is going on and then gets mad at her when he sees her out with someone else. At this point he had spent several days out of communication so yeah it made me a tad mad. I am also not sure why everyone thought it would be a good idea to have a tattoo shop inside a bookshop. I enjoyed the writing enough that I will check out book 2 but we will see how that one goes.

Hunter Raze by Laurann Dohner

4 Star

Anabel Brick was forced into service when her parents died. She was separated from her sister and made into a spy. She knows she will never be allowed to leave service as she knows too much. Her current mission has gone sideways. Ending up on the planet with primitive people with no way off and the remaining crew members she didn’t manage to kill hot on her trail to take her out. She was doing ok taking them out until she was “rescued” by a Veslor crew sent to extract her and take her to her sister. Raze and his hunters think it will be a snatch and grab instead get roped into helping take out her former crew.

I enjoyed this one a lot. It was interesting to see all the secrets that are revealed in this book. Watching Anabel throw Raze and his crew for a loop was hilarious. They never quite got the feel of her. Some of the twists and turns in the book were interesting and it will be awesome to see where she goes with the rest of the Veslor crew. I will say seeing the other Veslor Mates leaving the ship and getting their own world was a shocker and I want to see all their friends end up on this new world so badly.

5 Star

Amy has graduated with her MBA and even though she could work for her sister's business she doesn't want a hand out. She interviews for a job with a business that is invested in sports figures and they need her to keep Hamish in line and out of the news for the wrong thing so they can all get a huge payday. The problem she wants him. Can Hamish break through her reserves and win her over?

I loved Amy and Hamish's book. Hamish gets up to so many shenanigans and Amy is brought in to keep him in line but that's not actually how it actually goes. This is a spinoff of another series but you don't need to read all of the previous books to read this one. We do get to see all of are favorite characters from those books. One of my least favorite parts of previous books was things Marie did to her kids and in this one she was actually mellow and it made my day. I can't wait for the next book to see where Amy and Hamish story goes.

She agrees but the longer they spend together the more the feelings are less pretend and more real.

I enjoyed this story. I liked Levi and Jane. Just like all of Jill Shalvis’ other books there are a lot of feels in this book. Levi and Jane have journey to get their happy ending and it was worth the read. Can’t wait for the next book.

A Dance with the Fae Prince by Elise Kova

3 Star

Katria knew she would be married off at some point so there was no point in falling in love. When her stepmother marries her off to mysterious Lord Fenwood she was only upset at leaving her horse and her sister behind. When she is given strange rules about not ever looking at her husband or leaving the house at night, she agrees to them until her curiosity got the better of her. When she stumbles into a ritual where her husband is supposed to get the magic from the ancient kings and steals the magic, she’s stuck traversing the fae wilds until they can find a way to give the magic over. When it comes time to make the transfer will long held secrets change everyone’s mind?

Where I liked the first book this one wasn’t as enjoyable to me. Part of that came from wanting more with the characters we met in the first one. This book follows with Greek myth but is Psyche and Eros. Katria can’t ever look at her husband and she does, and all sorts of chaos happens. I was very bored with the beginning of the story and when she finally sees what is going on the story picked up for me. I also didn’t feel Katria’s stepfamily really got their comeuppance.  Overall, it was an ok story but not as good as the first one.

The Torid Affair by Laurann Dohner

3.5 Star

The crew on the Defcon Red are called on to help calm the riots on the planet Torid. Research Specialist Jessa Brick is pressed into service to help those who are injured. She is shocked by the inequality on the planet and is furious when she is pressed to help certain people over others by the governor. Veslor Medic Maith has always been annoyed by Jessa but seeing her work and her dedication changes his opinion of her. When things get dicey Maith is ordered to protect Jessa at all costs. This means they spend all their time together. As more information is discovered on what led to the riot the more danger Jessa is in. Will they be able to make it out unscathed?

I enjoyed this story. I particularly like seeing how Jessa got out of her forced servitude by the earth forces. The reason for the lower rating was the book seemed rushed at the end. It was a flow issue of the story was moving along nicely and then either we hit some wall and Dohner felt she needed to conclude the story right now and rushed the ending. It was a good read up until Jessa and Maith got back to the ship. When they were on the planet it was moving along nicely. I also didn’t feel they wrapped up the stuff going on planet side well because they were rushing the relationship. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and fit the rest of the series.

A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova

3.5 Star

Humans were hunted by the elves for centuries until a deal was struck that one specific woman would be selected to be queen. The queen was there to help the elf king. For the woman it is a death sentence. Luella is glad she isn’t this woman and spends her days learning herbology and how to take care of the towns people. Until one day it is discovered that she was the one marked to be queen. Taken from all she’s known and just wanting to go home she is very confused by her new role. She plans on finding some way to get out of Midscape and go home to her people. Will the elf king Eldas be able to help Luella get everything she wants?

This book is listed as a YA book, but it doesn’t read as a YA. It very much reads as a fantasy book for an adult. The only thing that might label it as a YA would be Luella being 19. There is a lot of adult content in the book. It is a riff off of Hades and Persephone. Eldas being Hades coming and taking Luella away from her life. Luella eventually falls for Eldas and doesn’t want to leave him just like in the myth. Overall, the story was interesting take on the myth, and it was enjoyable.

One day everything was normal until it wasn’t. The world is filled with ghosts and other dead things. The reapers came to take control of the dead creating the city of Necro where all ghosts go before the next step. She gets involved and a reaper dies leaving her his knife. Now pulled into this world she doesn’t want and lusting after several of her trainers. How will she handle this new life?

I enjoyed Fee and her men that we met in this book. I was not as in love with Conah as others are. I liked the dickiness of Mal and the stoniness of Az. I am interesting to see where the series is going.

While Victoria is investigating the town before revealing her message she begins to fall for the brothers. What she wasn’t expecting was the kidnappers following her to town.

I enjoyed this book. There were times I very much wanted to shake the guys and say OMG she’s new. How do you not give her a break? When it all works itself out it was a good story. I loved seeing the guys squirm over getting her to come back to them. Overall, it was a good story.
