Plus Two by Jillian West

4 Stars

Melody waited ten years for her boyfriend to bond with her and get her pregnant. It was made clear to her after she caught him flirting, he was never going to be all in with her, so she put herself into the Omega Exchange. She’s sent to the hotel to meet packs and see if she can meet her forever pack. What she wasn’t anticipating was finding her fated mates Nikolas, Oliver, and Maxim. They help her through her heat but then life is thrown a curve ball. Will they be able to weather the storm?

Loved this book. Small angst but not too big drama. FMC finds her scent match after waiting 10 years for her boyfriend dragged his feet to commit. He’s a massive dick but her mates are super sweet to her. He does get better by the end of the book but they just weren’t good together. I love the interplay between the ex and all the main characters. I also loved the story with the FMC mom. I did want some more backstory with all of the characters but that’s a me issue. Overall, it was a quick and spicy read.

Knot Your Life by Jarica James

3 Stars

I’ve finally found my pack and leaving those who rejected me behind. It was all too good to be true and now those who rejected me are coming to town to stir up trouble. Can my new pack survive the newest issues?

It hasn’t been that long since I read book one and I was getting the guys confused. I don’t know if the names were that similar or the group of guys was just that large but I struggled. After the first book and how it ended, I was a bit disappointed with this one. It felt like the author couldn’t figure out where she was going and was throwing things out there hoping something would stick. Like in book one you hate her parents but in two it’s explained away. Same with some of the other characters. They were horrible but now they’re all good. There were also a couple of things left hanging but otherwise the main plot was concluded nice ish.

Last Single Girl by Bria Quinlan

3 Stars

Sarah has one month to find a date or show her inner circle she’s the last single girl. It can’t be that hard to find someone right. There’s four weeks to find Mr. Right.

This was a short and sweet romance. Nothing is done on page and very much a fade to black. It was a nice pallet cleanse from some of the books I’ve been reading. The different dates were funny to read. The one thing that frustrated me was the fact the FMC let her friends push her around so much and I don’t find out if they get theirs in the end. Maybe with book 2 we will find out.

Pack Rival Part Two by Hannah Haze

4 Stars

The feud between the packs cost them the omega they all wanted. Now they will need to work together to win her back and treat her the way they should have all along. Will Bea ever forgive them?

I love a good redemption book and this one didn’t fail. The guys do work through their differences and agree on ways to make it up to her. I always feel like more could be done on the grovel front but it was enough not to tick me off. It was a nice conclusion to book one but it probably could have been edited down a bit and been one book.

Deserving Henley by Susan Stoker

3 Stars

Henley has spent her years and life to shape her into a conscientious psychologist. She spends her days at the Refuge helping victims with their trauma and her nights with her daughter Jasna. She has a very fulfilling life if not lonely. She loves her bosses, even the most standoffish one Finn “Tonka” Matlick. He had his coast guard career end and spent the last several years building up the Refuge. When life brings them together, they think they are finally getting everything they want. What they aren’t aware of is someone who’s out to get Henley. Will they figure it out before it’s too late?

This one wasn’t one of my favorites. I didn’t feel the connection between FMC and Finn. The bad guy was an interesting choice, and I would have liked to see it fleshed out more. Without spoilers I don’t know if they weren’t fleshed out because of who they were or if that was how Stoker intended them to be. The final confrontation with him was very anticlimactic. I liked the idea of this book but that’s about it.

Pack Rival Part One by Hannah HazePack Rival Part One by Hannah Haze

4 Stars

After catching her soon to be husband with someone else Bea wants a fresh start in the city. As a beta she has options available. While working a catering job she perfumes for the first time. Accused of lying about being a beta to get the job she’s rushed out before chaos can happen. She is 100% sure she’s not an omega no matter what anyone tells her. Now she has two of the cities richest and most powerful alphas vying for. When secrets are revealed who will she choose?

I liked this different take on Alpha/Beta/Omega. FMC has always thought she was beta until she meets her fated mate alpha and she switches to omega. I loved seeing her struggle because everyone would struggle with the change. The book does end on a cliffhanger which is why I waited until both were out to read. At this point it does sort of make sense to have a cliffhanger on this book because of the push and pull between both packs vying for FMC but we will see after book 2. Definitely give it a shot to see guys being a dick who hopefully grovel so good in book 2.

Better-Off Bunny by Sedona Ashe

4 Stars

The bunnies are under the wolves’ protection and have been for years. They’ve never taken an interest in their mating habits until she came into their lives. One chance meeting is all it took for the wolves to know she was their everything but what bunny is going to want to be surrounded by wolves. They would terrify her. They were determined to leave her alone until they saw what the burrows had planned for her. All bets are off. No one hurts their mate.

100% would read again and recommend this if you are looking for a funny and bit weird shifter romance. I loved that the Monroe was a bunny and her fated mates were all wolves. There is bullying but only in the bunny community and the wolves do not bully their mate. In fact they get all growly and protective with her when they find out. It was an awesome read. This was also spicy. I can’t wait to see what book 2 will bring.

Wet by Cambria Hebert

4 Stars

Rory is determined to prove an elite swimmer attempted to sexually assault her. What she doesn’t plan on is being thrown into a pool when she can’t swim. Another swimmer elite saves her. Ryan is enthralled with her from the moment they meet. She’s not sure if he will believe her since no one else has but he does. He also wants to help her prove what his teammate has been up too. He will do anything to keep her safe and help her get her story out. Will she be able to get her story out and convince her she’s everything to him?

I enjoyed this book a lot. Rory is so strong. She has so much thrown at her, and she just keeps moving. She wants to prove the guy was a bad guy and was willing to do just about anything to get the proof. It is an insta-love story, and it amused me. I loved most of the swim team and I want to see those I liked them getting to their HEA. It was a really fast read and was a good college romance.

Campus Flirt by Jennifer Sucevic

3 Stars

Sasha has always loved Easton but they aren’t meant to be anything but friends. When she finally concludes they won’t be more and decided to move on is when he realizes he wants more from her but is he too late?

Short and sweet friends to lovers. Low stakes and no drama. Just a quick realization Easton is head over heals in love with Sasha. He of course discovers this when she’s ready to move on from her crush. Writing was also fine and I will be checking out other books by this author.

Queen of Vengeance by Poppy Jacobson

4 Stars

I was hoping for my fairytale ending with my prom king boyfriend. Only it turned out he had other plans with his buddies. They took something I never intended for them to have. I’ve finally able to get out of my nightmare 10 years later and get the revenge I am owed. An unmarked grave in the backyard isn’t enough and all of the men need to pay for what they did to me. The only thing that is in my way is two childhood friends who abandoned me when I needed them the most. Will they be there for me now?

If you are like me and like seeing people get what they deserve this is the book for you. It is very dark and FMC is very much out for revenge against those who SA her in high school. After reading the story I was left with some questions like why did her parents make her marry the guy? I know why she stayed but not how she ended up forced into marriage. I did love how everything was handled with her guys and the trauma she was still working through. Definitely pick up if you are in a rage against men time.

Heliacle Rising by C.C. Davie

2.5 Stars

Amylia has been raised to be the wife of Lord Drakon’s son. She and her brother have been his ward since their family was slaughtered. She knows she once had magic but doesn’t now. When some magical people show up to make a deal with the lord her life is thrown for a loop. Secrets are revealed and Amylia will never be the same again.

This was an interesting read. There were parts of the book that I enjoyed but more that were just no for me. One of my biggest issues was how the sexual assault was handled. There was no warning that it was going to happen and then it was just brushed aside after her rescue. They acted like it never happened. That was the biggest issue but there were others. FMC was weak and also very stupid. I didn’t like her love interested either as it was an older established couple. It came across as grooming. It would be a skip for future books for me.

Monsters Den by Jillian West

4 Stars

Emerson has a high energy toddler she’s juggling with a full-time job that doesn’t pay enough. She’s trying to pay off the debt of her ex-boyfriend to his pack and she refuses to do it on her back. When her land lady/ babysitter gives her notice she’s not sure what she can do but her friend gives her an out and chance for a fresh start. With no other options she hopes for the best and jumps. The pack follows her and demands the money they feel she owes them. When she finds out the club, she is working at has another side to it she asks her boss for a chance. This means she will be the plaything to monsters but it is worth it if it gets the debt paid down faster. The owners have a policy that one of them has to give her a try to see if she will work. What they don’t plan on is falling for her. Will they let her pass and move onto the client or will they never let her go?

Knew how this book was going to play out but I loved the getting there. It was super spicy and each of her men were different and brought different things to the relationship. I loved how Emerson was with each of them. There is an actual plot in the book and that kept me reading to see how things were going to play out. I would love more books in this world.

Princess or Knot by MP Starkweather

2 Stars

Isabelle was banished from her home after a tragic accident. Many years later she’s ordered home by her parents as they sold her to a pack. Since she has no rights as an omega she heads home and hopes for the best. What she wasn’t expecting was her childhood friend the crowned Prince Drake Brighten to be there and save her by claiming her for his pack. He just hopes his parents don’t flip out when they find out as they blame her for the tragedy that befell the family many years ago.

I wanted to like this book. It was an interesting concept and I liked parts of it but couldn’t get behind the nonchalance the characters had towards the killing of the King and Queen. They also never speak of the other mates. Like here are these mates to the Queen…the queen is dead and they no longer exist. The book felt rushed and incomplete. Like what happened to her family who tried to sell her or the guy who was trying to buy her. The writing was done well but the story needed work.

Tease by Melanie Harlow

2 Stars

Felicity wasn’t thinking when she blurted out, she was engaged. The only person she knew who could help her was her best friend Hutton. He’s a billionaire nerd who isn’t interested in more. Or that’s what she thinks. He’s been in love with her for years but never wanted to chance losing her as a friend. He’s not sure this is a good idea but will do anything to help her. When all is done will they be able to walk away from each other?

I was so bored with these characters. Neither would have a conversation and the led to all the hurt feelings. If they had sat down and had a conversation a lot of their issues wouldn’t have been. Yes, that’s the whole point of the book but it got really old really fast. Felicity also was so wishy washy through most of the book and when she was thinking/talking it felt like she was whining. It was an interesting concept, and the writing style was good. I just didn’t like the characters.

Good as Gold by Sarina Bowen

4 Stars

Matteo has had a ruff year. He’s lost his best friend to a freak accident and that’s made him want to go home. When he gets there, he finds his childhood friend Leila is single. He’s always wanted her but when she married their best friend, she was off limits. Now that she’s single all bets are off. When she tells him the one thing, she wants is a baby, can he give it to her and walk away?

I enjoyed this book a lot. There wasn’t any high angst in it. I loved how Leila and Mateo were so closed off on their true feelings for each other. Everyone else in the book knew and tried to encourage them both to open up. Both had their reasons for being closed off and it was interesting to watch them work through it and come out on the other side. It made for a fun read.
