Say You'll Stay by Corinne Michaels

a very generous 2 Star except the audio

Presley needed Zach to stay and he didn't.  In the process took her heart with him.  17 years later after marriage, babies, and the death of her husband as lead to Presley going home for the first time in a long time.  One of the first nights home she runs into her old love and there is still a spark.  Will they be able to work through their past to find their happy ending?

This book made me so MAD!  The way the book was described Zach did something so heinous that broke them up.  In reality all he did was follow through on his dream to play ball.  That was it.  She wanted him to give up his dream to stay with her and since he didn't they were done.  But it was ALL his fault.  Presley whined about everything.  Nothing was ever her fault.  She literally have a list of things to complain about and it was a ridiculous list.  I really didn't want to see her get her HEA.  She abandons anyone who doesn't fit her narrative including her kids.  Like they lost their dad and she was more concerned about her feelings and her new love life then her kids.  The writing and prose were good in the book I just hated the characters.  If you've never read one of her books don't start with this book.  There are so many other books that are better than this one.  I will be listening to the next book because I do like her writing but this book is a hard pass for me.

Audio 5 Star

I love Andy Arndt and Sebastian York narrating this book.  They did an amazing job bring the story to life.  Giving each of the characters unique voices and really showing the emotions the characters were trying to portray.  The issues I had with the book were not the narrators fault.  I would definitely listen to another book narrated by either of these two voice actors.

Adverse Possession by Rebecca Zanetti

4 Star

Anna and Devlin are back.  Devlin has been outed as an ATF agent.  He's all in with Anna until a woman from his past comes to town wanting him to go undercover as her man.  When the agent ends up murdered on Anna's porch Anna will need to figure out who did it to clear her name.  While dealing with murder charges she's also opening her own practice and dealing with meddling grannies.  Will she be able to clear her name and keep all those she loves safe?

I enjoyed this book a lot.  Devlin's damn lucky Anna is so forgiving.  He caused her so much trouble in this book.  He causes the havoc but then tries to keep her in the dark to "protect" her and this just causes so much more trouble.  She ends up being investigated for the murder of his former partner as well as nearly killed.  I don't know many people who would be willing to put up with everything she puts up with.  I am not a huge fan of Devlin because of things that happened in books 1 and 2 and three doesn't really win me over either.  I still liked the book.  I am tired of them alluding to the Anna's kidnapper and would like some more solid information on him.  The other frustration was the meddling grannies.  They couple is clearly not ready for more but there was a whole lot of pushing that got old.  All of these were minor issues and I feel it was a good addition to the series.

Eden doesn't do seconds with any man.  That is until she makes the mistake of hooking up with her photographer friend Damon.  Damon has always wanted Eden but wasn't willing to give up his friendship with her so after their night together and her freaking out he goes back to friends until she's ready to be together.  He's hoping it won't take long and she can get the help she needs so she can be happy even if they don't end up together.  Will she be able to get passed her and get her happy ending?

This was an ok book.  Eden kind of irritated me a lot.  She had been through a lot and I understand that but instead of getting help she would rather just have one night stand upon one night stand.  She uses Damon throughout the book and when times get tough and things she doesn't want known are released she wants to run.  She doesn't and they end up together but I just ended up feeling bad for Damon throughout the book.  The writing was good but didn't really like the people in it.  Here's hoping the next one is better.

4 Star

Artie has been in the industry forever.  She is used to it all.  When a young up and coming director asks for her backing for a project he's working on she's thrown for a loop.  Never has she been so attracted to someone but with a 15 year age difference there's no way it will work.  After one hot night together they part ways as friends until several years later when she gives him a book to option and direct.  The flames are still there but so is the hesitancy on her side about the age difference.  Will she let that come between them or give them both their happy ending?

This book frustrated me so much in a good way but it was still frustrating.  It is an older woman/younger man tale which we don't normally get to see a lot of.  I loved that they didn't harp on or talk about cougar almost at all.  I hate that term and the fact they didn't keep using it made me incredibly happy.  I liked seeing Artie and Pierce work through all there issues.  Artie screws up BIG in the book and she apologizes and makes it right with Pierce.  Normally when the women make the mistake they don't usually do the apologizing so to see it here was another check in the good book box for me.  It was a good addition to the series.

Everyone thought she had it together because that's what she shows everyone in her professional life.  Her personal life not so much.  When her professional life clashes with her private life chaos reigns.  Olivia has a reputation of being a bitch agent.  Sports figures want her to have their back and sports teams don't want to go up against her.  She has had the hots for Cole who she used to represent.  She never acted on it as it violated her code.  She still won't act on them because of her past until an accidental meeting that leads to them getting way closer.  Will she be able to get past her hang ups to find her happy ending?

I really enjoyed this book.  I wanted to know about Olivia's past way before we found out what all happened to her.  Cole was very patient and slow with her.  When they finally figured everything out it was perfect.  To read this book it might help to have read the short story/some of the Gold Hockey books.  There are things mentioned that would make reading this book better understandable but it isn't necessary.  Good start to a new series.

Brent lost men he served with but the one that hurt the most was his best friend after they were both out.  Dealing with emotional pain in addition to the physical pain led him to with draw from life.  Bartending to make ends meet he meets a woman who intrigues him.  Iris has led a life where she's always done what was expected until she couldn't any more.  When she loses her wallet at a bar she retrieves it from the bartender who she is interested in and at the spur of the moment asks him over for Christmas dinner.  He excepts and shocks the hell out of her by actually showing  up causing her to burn her pies.  She never burns her pies.  When a secret is revealed and it is not handled well hurt feels leads to misunderstandings.  Will they be able to get passed these and find their happy?

This book hit all the feels.  I really enjoyed Brent and Iris.  You really are rooting for them to succeed as a couple.  They both had strife in their past and needed some happy.  The issues they had were very much a miscommunication and they eventually work it out.  The epilogue was a holy shit moment and you will want to go right into that book.

Rum and Notes by Elise Faber

4 Star

Romance writer has had some crap luck.  She lost her parents, then her brother, and then her boyfriend left her.  She moved and became inspired by a local bartender to write her books.  Kace had everything that revved her engine.  For six months she took her laptop to the bar and ignored everyone to write.  Kace finally worked up to asking her out and scared her off.  Will he be able to win her over and keep her?

I really enjoyed this book.  Kace was a pretty stereotypical male model these days for romance book.  Big, muscled, and tattooed and it was interesting to see how Brooke used that for her books.  It was also interesting to see how Kace won her over.  The only issue I really had was problems they had to overcome was not really something big so it was really just a straight romance.  This is fine as sometimes you just want that and this book is really good.

4 Star

Olive doesn't let people in easy especially since she joined secret agency KTS.  She's there to patch people up when they're hurt.  She thought she was getting close to Linc as more than just friends but when she asked him out he didn't just say no he said hell no.  With that rejection she puts Linc firmly in the co-worker category.  Linc has regretted turning her down from the moment he said hell no but he thinks it's for the best as he's not good enough for her.  That is until the world explodes around them and he nearly loses her.  Once she's healed up will he be able to not only keep her in his bed but keep her safe from the traitor?

This book started with a bang...Literally.  Olive is caught up in an explosion that nearly kills her and we get to see just how much Linc likes her.  It is so aggravating to read about how he keeps pushing her away, sort of with a reasons.  She misinterprets a lot of his nos as a rejection which I can understand and see why her feelings were hurt.  Overall, I liked the give and take in the relationship between them and seeing them finally come together.  There was progress made on Daniel but I still want more information as I am still confused by how that all went down.

Healer Suz works and then works some more.  She works so much she forgets to take care of herself.  No one else really steps up to help her and someone has to take care of everyone.  Graham has known Suz forever.  There is too much of an age difference for him to go for her but fate steps in and makes them mates.  Will they be able to find their balance?

I felt the first book was OK.  This was not the case with this book.  I really enjoyed reading this book.  I liked Suz and Graham a lot.  Seeing them go from friends to lovers/mates was awesome.  It transitioned nicely.  There was one scene where a woman was in labor and Suz siphons the pain from the woman.  That is the point Graham realizes how much Suz does for everyone and no one takes care of her.  He decides to step up and be that person and it was so sweet.  I loved how they did a lot of give and take to make things work.  Now to wait for the next one.

Dan has wanted Ava since there very short week years ago.  She backed way off and he didn't want to be completely booted from his life so he let her.  When their current case leads directly to her past will they be able get out alive and find their happy ending?

The story was pretty good.  I enjoyed seeing Dan get his happy ending after meeting him in Book 1 of Gold Hockey.  I did get kind of tired of Ava's reticence of being with Dan.  I understand why she felt she wasn't good enough not that I agreed but there was a point where I went girl get your head out of your ass and enjoy the man already.  Other than this it was a pretty good suspense romance.  I was a bit confused about the whole Daniel thing since this is book 1 but there is a short story before this one that might make this more understood.

I just read the Elise Faber book and will be going back but I wanted to see if this one would explain the first book in KTS and it sort of did but not completely.  I am still left wanting.  It was interesting to see how Laila and Ryker got together.  It was well written and enjoyable read.

Just like the last one this book started out really slowly.  We do finally find out who Kira's dad is and why and how he kept her a secret.  About the the halfway point is when the story picked up and I started to enjoy the book.  I'm still reading them but I feel like if these books were either all in one or maybe two books it would be so much better.

I was a lot annoyed with this book.  Kira irritated me through most of the book.  She would not let go of the secret.  Considering they were randomly picked men for her surprise surprise Auric has a past.  The fact she was getting multiple men and they all had to get on board with that for her to get mad over his past was stupid.  Overall, it was a slow moving book but did get better towards the end.

A town of squatters has gone missing.  Because they were on land owned by Leah the FBI dumps it in the hands of Charles and Anna to find the missing people.  When they get there they talk with one of the squatters' daughter.  She gives them the limited information she has and they set out to put the pieces together for answers.  What they find is a whole lot magic.  They can't tell if it is good or evil and who was behind the magic.  They will have to navigate the magic, black and white witches, and Leah's past to find answers for what is currently going on.

OMG OMG OMG.  The ending of the book is AMAZING! I can't believe I have to wait until 2024 for the next Alpha and Omega book.  I need to know what is going to happen with this plot point that I can't say what it is because it is a huge HUGE spoiler for where the series is going. Onto what I can talk about.  I hated Leah.  This book makes me feel so much empathy for her.  She was dealt a shit hand and has to roll with it.  I loved having my opinion be changed about her and getting a better insight into her and her past.  That alone made the book a solid book what put it over for me was the epilogue.  It will be interesting what Ms. Briggs is going to write next.

4 Star

Miriam Feldman is killing it at middle age.  She's living a very boring life but she can't complain as she has a wonderful daughter, an ex who's amazing, and friends who love her.  And she's bored with her life.  She wanted to change it up but not nearly being killed and being dragged into the supernatural world.  Her best friend is missing and Miriam is trying to find out where she's gone and make sure she's safe while discovering she has magic and will need to figure out how that will work.

I enjoyed this book a lot.  It was slightly different from other books Deborah Wilde has done before but also had many similarities.  She stays true to the Jewish traditions.  There was some amazing world building in the story as well as character development.  There were many strings left unstrung BUT the overall plot from the book was concluded by the end.  I was left wanting the next book to see where the series is going.  It was a good start to a new series.

Kira has been on the run from the black dragon for most of her life.  She's been hiding out in a small village when everything changes and starts her on the path to revenge.  On the journey for her revenge she meets 4 more who will be her mate.  They will need to stop at each elemental Gods' temple for their blessing.  Will they be able to except their path and make it there without being stopped by the Black Dragon and her mates?
This was an interesting new reverse harem.  It wasn't the best book I've ever read nor was it bad.  It was just ok.  I did get tired of some of the whining from Kira and the men she ends up with.  This book was very much the first in a series so there was a lot of world building in it that did slow the book down and made me not like it as much.  It felt like there was a lot of info dump to explain why something was happening all without actually saying anything.  I did finish the series so it didn't deter me.

Calla is in love with 4 men she grew up with but knows it is wrong to want more than one.  That is until she is called to be the Fire God's High Priestess and the men are called to be her mates.

This is listed as book 6 but it is technically a prequel.  I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the first four books.  It was a lot of repetitive from the first four books.  Which may be ok if you aren't binging the series.  It didn't add anything to the series overall and I was kind of bored reading it.  There isn't really anything going on other than Calla being called to be Priestess.  Overall, it was just meh.

This is the conclusion to Prince of the Other Worlds.  I will say it finally did conclude Damian and Andi story.  It irritated me.  The twists and turns were obvious and nothing new.  The back and forth of whether they were going to be together or not was frustrating.  I still feel like the entire series could have been one or two books and not the four it was.  I don't feel the four books added anything to the series.  The book did leave several loose threads

The title doesn't really match with what the book is about but I enjoyed it a lot.  I loved the wedding scene where the rooster escaped his cage and caused Brad to destroy the wedding cake.  There were parts of the book that brought on all the feels as well as making me laugh.  I loved how Brad proved himself to Kate.  Overall, just a really quick, light hearted read.

Honorable Catesby Burgoyne has left the military and after an argument with his brother the Count he's decided to drown his sorrows in alcohol.  One night while stumbling home he comes across a woman being accosted.  He steps in and saves Prudence Youlgrave and escorts her home.  Her life is in shambles due to a brother who has abandoned her to poverty.  Catesby does what he can without over stepping but is called home because of an emergency.  When Prudence once again needs rescuing he steps in and marries her.  Will she be able to handle being a Countess when she wasn't raised to be a Countess?

Normally I don't start books in the middle of a series but this was one of the books I got at a library book sale and I'm trying to work through if they are keeps or get rid of.  This was definitely a keep.  It was a friends to lovers slow burn book and I loved it.  Catesby tries to be honorable and make it clear they didn't marry because she was with child but because it was a "love" match.  It was interesting to see the struggle Prudence had with adjusting to being a Countess.  The only downside to the book was there wasn't any sex scene until the very end.  There was some very heavy petting but that was about it.  I now want to go back and read all of the books in the series.

3 Star

Weather woman Quinn had her reputation ruined by an ex that forced her to move to Florida.  Her ex continues to stalk her which makes her not want to get close to anyone which earns the nickname the Ice Queen.  Warlord Bahre came to earth to participate in the Bachelor Beast reality show.  When he arrives at the station he smells his mate and tracks her down to claim her.  When he hears about her past he agrees to take it slow but by taking it slow allows her to be kidnapped and very few ways to find her.  Will he be able to track her down before it's too late?

I've read all of Grace Goodwin's books and for the most part they tend to be really good books.  This wasn't one of the ones that I liked all that much.  The writing is still here but the plot is severely lacking.  There was also the issue where the couple was allowed to stay on Earth even though couples who mate aren't supposed to stay on Earth.  Overall, it fit within the series but not my favorite book.

This is one of those books that is a guilty pleasure.  It is so bad it's good.  There isn't anything about the book that makes it good or different then a 100 other books out there but for whatever reason I continue to read her books.  The book is listed as a Science Fiction Romance and I don't really see any of that in the book.  It is closer to an MC/Alpha type book. I loved Merrily's daughter.  She was adorable and the book could have been better by having her in the book more.  Overall, it is not the best book in the world but it was amusing and probably one of the better guilty pleasures.

Brexton Kincade and Drew Bowman were tight as can be growing up until a scandal rocked the Bowman family and severed the families friendship.  Now they're all grown up.  Brexton is working in her family's talent agency and Drew is the backup quarterback for a NFL team.  She's there to steal a different player away from his current agency and he's just trying to play the game he loves.  He's attracted to her but the family history is hard to get past.  Will he be able to let go of it to find his happy ending.

This book had some really good parts but there were also some slow parts where things were being told vs being done.  The story was also more about Drew than Brexton.  Not that this is a bad thing I was just expecting it to be include her more since the premise of the series is the talent agency.  At one point in the story I felt like Drew was treating Brexton was his dirty little secret instead of a true partner.  I loved the reason why the Bowman family stopped talking to Kincade.  It was expected from what I had read throughout the story but I still loved it.

I wanted to like this book.  There were moments that were very funny and I loved those parts.  However, there is one part of the book at the end that I have a hard time with.  It has to do with consent and I have a hard time wanting to read a book that takes away consent.  You don't need to read any other books in the series or the original series to read this one but it also isn't one of my favorite books.

This book confused me.  It felt like we came into a story that already started.  I did enjoy the story for the most part but there were several parts that I felt I was missing something.  Some inside information or story but this is book 1 and yes it is a spin off of another series it should stand on its own.  It also ends on cliff hanger.  I specifically didn't read this until book 2 was out because I had heard it was supposed to be two book series and didn't want to wait like I've done with other series.  Unfortunately that book didn't complete the series. I usually like reading Susan Stoker books.  This one was like all her others.  It was well written and the story flowed nicely.  The issues I had with the book was there were some very graphic scenes that just didn't seem to be necessary and kind of skeeved me out.  They took me out of the book and I had to put the it down to take a couple breaths.  Overall, it was an ok book but not one of my favorite book by Susan Stoker.

Dr. Laney Marconi was the darling of the supernatural community until a student made a false claim and she was fired from her job.  Now she looks for magical artifacts for hire.  She is hired to reclaim a stolen necklace from wolf shifter and billionaire Arek Varg.  The problem is the necklace isn't stolen until she takes it.  When Arek and his pack go looking for her they end up rescuing her from some very bad people.  She's not sure if she should trust them and they're not sure if she's to be trusted.  Will they trust each other to take down the bad guys?

I enjoyed the writing style and the premise of the book but I didn't like the development of the story.  It felt like they rushed through the story to get to the sex.  At one part Arek and Laney are at a party where she sees the people who were pivotal in her downfall.  It would have been nice if that scene had been expanded because it felt very brief and not fulfilling.  They rushed off for a confrontation with the bad guys so I felt like there was no real conclusion with her old life.  The book just left me wanting more and not in a good way.  Maybe it was because it was the first book in the series and the next one will be better.  I don't know.  It was an okay book.

CEO for the Prestige Media Group, Devon has fantasies about his temp assistant Becca but doesn't feel he can act on them.  When she is threatened by an ex he takes a hands on approach to protecting her.  Will he be able to keep his hands off her?

The writing was really good and the story was even better.  I really enjoyed these two.  Becca was determined to make it on her own and he was trying to do the right thing by staying away from an employee.  The miscommunication between them was sad but at least Devon makes up for it. Really good addition to the Gold Hockey Series.

I have never read anything by Stephanie Fournet before and this book makes me want to track down another book by her.  I enjoyed her writing and her character development of Charlie and Hutch.  Particularly because this was a short story set in the world of Gold Hockey there's always that chance that an author won't do the world justice and this was not the case.  Charlie and Hutch were so cute together and I wanted to see how they would work things out to end up together.

Marcus as represented Bryce for years.  He's also loved Ava for just as long.  When Bryce suffers a major injury and Marcus supports him on rehab vs quitting Ava will never forgive him.  Five years later she's held too this.  Bryce decides to end the feud and bring them together.  Will he be successful?

Well written but I HATED Ava.  She wasn't someone I understood or liked.  She blamed everything on Marcus EVEN though her brother was a freaking adult.  I really liked Marcus and Bryce (Ava's twin brother).
