Books to the ceiling, Books to the sky, My pile of books is a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.
- Arnold Lobel
Mallory is in need of some quick cash after a fire burned
down her apartment. She's forced to live with her sex obsessed parents and
she’s tired of walking in on her parents in compromising situations. She gets a
job as a personal assistant for Cameron Reid. It's just supposed to be make
copies and coffee and just keep every thing orderly. But she's known as the
catastrophe queen for a reason. Plus the more time the spend together
Borderline 2.5 as there were some things that frustrated me.
First it ended sooner than it should which left questions. There were a lot of
grammatical/spelling errors. If I notice it's bad. I would pass on it until she
fixes the errors.
Enchantress Zuleika was summoned by the king to help him
with a problem. Instead of letting her do her duty he forces himself on her.
She curses the King and swears she will never help him again. She travels the
world learning new things and helping those in need. When one of her father's
ship goes off course causing financial problems she heads to the last known
location and discovers the Beast. The Beast is Prince Vardan. He's been cursed
and will only help if she breaks the curse. She's willing to help even if he's
a beast. When secrets are revealed will they be able to find their happy
ending?
I love a good retelling of a fairy tale. I don't mind
explicit sex scenes. What I do mind is misogynistic statements being made and
then we're supposed to brush it off as a joke. No thank you. I liked Zulerika.
She was a woman who is dealing with a lot after she's sexually assaulted. She
deserves better than a love interest who cracks a joke about wanting to ravish
the FMC who had already been raped. When the Prince is called out on the
statement, he's all it was a joke. He was just an ass through most of the book.
I would skip this one.
Three young men meet in college. Each have been shaped by
their past. Bentley has always followed the same routine until he meets Emmy.
She allows him to be spontaneous and free. When Aiden and Mattox meet her for
the first time they see the draw and want her just as much as Bentley. When
trouble arises in the men’s' business and that leads to concerns for Emmy's
safety will they be able to keep her safe?
Quick and easy read. The bad guy was obvious from the
beginning for me. My biggest issues with the book was it relied to much on the
tropes to squeak by. Rich guys meet free spirit fall madly in Love. Business
deal problems cause danger to FMC. SPOILER
The bad guy is someone the guys trust and have known for
years who feels screwed over. That's the extent of the book, Not a lot of world
or character building. Worth a read if you're looking for a straight romance.
Lady Adelle Thornber was caught in a compromising situation
she's forced to go to the wild's of Scotland to marry the reclusive baron. Lord
Henry MacAulay is not what she was expecting. He is the sole heir to the
Roseheath title and alpha of his pack he needs to find a mate. He expected to
pick his own mate at some point but with being forced into a marriage with a
disgraced noble woman and his secrets what kind of marriage can they have? The
more time they spend together the deeper in love they become but Henry's secret
is still between them. He is terrified once she knows Adelle will leave him.
What happens when it's all revealed?
I enjoyed this one a lot. It's a historical romance but also paranormal. Lady Adelle is a strong character and Lord Henry was a caring man. Neither wants to upset the other but they end up falling in love with each other and it was super sweet. Definitely light and quick read.
Childhood companion to King Ditanu, Iltani was called away
to do her training to become his Blade. She is happy to be back but everything
has changed and her once fun friend and love is now stoic and serious. She must
find her place at the castle quickly to keep all those she loves safe.
I wanted to like this more than I did. Everyone seemed
perfectly fine with cheating and forced mating because it was for the good of
the kingdom. Then to top it off you literally kill off all obstacles for Iltani
to be with Ditanu. It was just too much for me to appreciate. I loved her
writing style and the idea of the book just the implementation of the romance
irritated me.
Shae’s crush is dating her best friend. To help her get over
the hurt she decides to go with the bad boy Aiden. When secrets are revealed
what will she do?
Everyone is lying to her. Her parents are abusive and it's
never explained why. Her friends suck a lot and not in a good way. Everyone
just kind of bad for her and leave her out which ends up hurting her. Then it
ends on a cliffhanger. Rope on all future books.
After divorcing her cheating ex-husband Erin accidentally
curses him and a demon showed up. Great Earl of Hell Andromalius specialized in
wickedness and revenge. He wants to help Erin get her revenge and he makes a
mean coffee. When her ex announces his wedding plans she needs more. What will
Andromalius come up with for her?
I wanted to like this more than I did.It had humor and it had some cute moments but
I felt it was lacking romance. There isn't enough time for these two to actually
fall in love. There wasn't even any revenge against the ex. Just fell flat for
me and then ended on a cliff. Skipping the rest.
Ruby is willing to do any thing to escape Earth including
joining a mail-order Bride and become an alien's wife. Escaping from the Alien
husband was also smart. Stowing away on a ship probably not so smart. The
zyanthan who owns the ship claims all on board as his. This now includes her whether
she likes it or not. He's on a mission and can use her to help him get what he
needs. When all the secrets are revealed will they be able to get past the
lies?
Ruby frustrated me so much. She had no faith that Torin was
there to help. She caused a lot of her own problems. There were many times she
was TSTL. On the flip side I adored Torin and he deserved a better mate. Still
good enough to continue the series.
Her mother is Cinderella and the fairy tales have it all
wrong. Cinderella isn't a down on her luck woman abused by her family but a
siren. Now with her daughter Kira, they are the last sirens. The rest of the
world wants then dead and gone as Cinderella has been nothing but evil. Kira is
forced to go to school and her classmates want her dead. She's just trying to
survive. She may have allies who love her or are they just using her for a
means to an end?
The description of the book makes it sound awesome but it
wasn't. I skimmed so much of this book. It had an interesting concept but it
just doesn't work. Kira has been abused by her mother her whole life and ends
up having this continue at the academy. The men she ends up with all use her to
one get Something out of her because of her mom and two physically assault her
as punishment. Again all because of her mom. At least by the end of book 1
these people had done nothing to make up for being massive dicks. I'm skipping
the rest of the series.
Blair has the perfect life until she perfumes as omega. Now
her dad is looking for the perfect match for her whether she likes it or not.
She forced to live with her stepbrother and his friends. She wants them all but
can't have them. Is she willing to risk it all for what she wants?
For me this story read very disjointed and lacked world
building. The bit of development it did have contradicted things previously
shared. Blair's father was all about love match until she perfumed omega than
it was finding the best match that got him something he did change this in the
end, but it was jarring. Blair was also very immature, and I didn't really like
the men she ends up with. Overall, meh.
The Shields security team works in a gray area. They go in
when the police can't. The team has been trying to take down a sex trafficking ring
and find Laurel, the boss’ sister. With the latest raid they are finally able
to track her down. How she will be is anyone’s
guess. Nolan brings her and her friend Jace in to be protected. Will he keep
them safe and keep his hands to himself?
Sex trafficking warning!
I wanted to like this book. I've read other books by her and
I like her style. My issue is Nolan hooks up with Laurel and Jace almost
immediately after they are rescued. They had been trafficked and used. Even
though they’ve been out of it they still have the trauma and it was never
addressed. I find it hard to believe someone who had been through what they
have would jump into a relationship. The other issue is it says book one but
it's apart of another series and you need to read that one first to understand
what is going on. I’ll skip this one in the future.
There was a war on who got to control the omegas and the
omegas lost. They are now all sent to a training facility to be conditioned and
than given to the best match for them. The
reality is they are given to Alphas who are in favor with the government. Harper
is one of those omegas. She rebelled and was retrained in the worst way. Now
her spirit is broken and she's given to the Winter pack. They don't want her
but can't say no. She starts to trust them when it all goes to hell. Can they
save her and all the other Omegas?
This was an interesting take on omegaverse. All omegas are
property and given to these the government deems appropriate. Harper is
determined to be strong and not bend until she's put in for new training. It
was bad and only alluded to. There are certain rules an omega has to follow
even if the alphas don't agree. Harper thinks they are perfect for her as they
don't seem to be alphas wanting to follow the rules until a misunderstanding.
They seemed to be back on track when Harper is kidnapped and that's where the
book ends. It doesn't have a follow up until November and I am so mad. Still
picking it up but I'm still mad.
Lily takes on her father’s debt and obligation to Colin
Davenport. He figures he knows her but he finds her to be headstrong. Will he
be more than force?
Well, I finished it the book. This story takes place in like
48 hrs from meet too forever. It was also mostly sex and no real plot which is
fine if you know that going in. It just overall didn't work for me.
Nye Yorke was expecting her night to go like it always did
until the closed club was raided. She witnesses her coworker be brutally raped
and murdered. She expects the same until she is "rescued" by Archer.
He wants her best friend and will use her to get him. He expects her to broker
a deal but the more time they spend together the less she wants them freedom.
Not many thing skeeve me out but the beginning of this book
did as there is a graphic rape on the page where the victim dies, the other
woman is than kidnapped, and used to get at her "brother" I don't
understand Nya or Archer's relationship. How do you get past what Archer and
his crew did I like a good dark story but this one went too far.
I have visions and to protect a classmate from being killed
I deck a guy. This saves her but gets me booted from school. Shipped off to a boarding
school.I thought it would be for
troubled kids but instead it's normal kids until the night I pledge and then everything
changes.
Maeve is a whiney, irresponsible, and self-centered. Yes
this is a teenager but it was to enth degree. She comes off as too Stupid to
live. The author also spends more time telling than showing which sucks. I have
a collection of some of these books and haven't finished them.
Lucy is going to get her brother on his feet and get away from her ex. Her brother is supposed to pick her up from the bus station but instead sends his teammate Konstantin to pick her up. He doesn't want to use his day off to pick some woman up but is willing to help out his teammate. When he sees her he's drawn in. He knows she's dealing with somethings but wants to get to know her better. She is also going to need help with her brother, Sawyer. Sawyer is in deep depression since the loss of his wife and Lucy needs to get him out of his house and back to work. The more time Kon and Lucy spend together the more they are drawn together. When trouble comes will they be able to weather the storm?
I loved Lucy and Kon's story. They started as friends and it slowly progressed to more. I loved seeing the progression. Watching Sawyer deal with the loss of his wife and how Lucy was trying to help was heartbreaking. I thought the issues Lucy was going through with her ex was dragged out a bit too long for me but I did like how it worked out. I've read other books by Brenda Rothert and have loved other books by her. This series I haven't gotten to yet and started with book 4 which is not normally what I do but you can definitely read without the other ones (though I am going to now go back and read them all). It was a really good read and I can't wait to read the other books.
With a cursed love life Colleen Luview is tired of being alone but no one wants to chance ending up in her ER after 3 dates. She thinks she finally is going to get past the curse when she ends up seeing the guy she's dating get hit by a car at the airport. She's their to pick up Moore and wasn't expecting to see her could of been get hit by a car and break up with her. One their way home Moore and Colleen end up stranded during a blizzard. They almost died and this brings a change to their relationship. When they are rescued will they go back to being just friends or will they go for more?
LOVED Colleen and Moore. I loved seeing their relationship grow and change. They had to deal with several issues in their relationship to be together. Collen and Moore's kid were awesome together. The big blow up was interesting and I liked that the forgiveness was almost instantly because everything was put into perspective when Moore was injured. I would have liked more of an ending then we got but overall, an enjoyable story. One of my biggest grumble was how Luke responded to their relationship. He was a major jerk. Luke needs to be given a good swift kick for his actions. Overall, a good addition to the series. Can't wait for Colleen's brother to get his book.
Only going to review Hasty as I've done the other ones. Mallory and Will are finally getting married and going on their honeymoon when their past makes a reappearance. This reappearance leads to some chaos.
I enjoyed seeing Mallory and Will again. It comes full circle where they meet the adult film crew/stars while they are on their honeymoon. Chaos happens with police involved. If you liked the rest of the series you will enjoy seeing this story.
Riana's is on probation for cyber crimes. She's supposed to
be finishing it when she's told it's being extended due to her connection to
Abbey. They want information on the aliens and will use her to get what they
want. The only way to keep her safe is to rely on Kail. Will they figure out
What they want Riana for before it is too late?
This one didn't work as well for me as the other books did.
It felt like a pacing issue. It was a lot of action and then nothing, rinse and
repeat. The characters also did a 180 on this personality without a good
reason. still good but not my favorite.
Kordolians rescued Noa from the strange research facility
when they rescued Abbey. She doesn't know what to think or do with them. She
has their thoughts in her head and all she wants is quiet. She meets one alien
who has similar gift as she has may be able to help her. The problem is Ashrael
has been brainwashed and ordered to take out Tarak and Abbey. Tarak is trying
to save him and when he sees how he reacts to Noa he's willing to give both a
chance. Will they find away to survive?
We finally get a conclusion with the queen. It was awesome.
I loved Noa and Ashrael relationship. They balance each other out and help each
other with their trauma.
Josie and Cyrus are competing for customers. When an
employee of Cyrus takes the competition to for Josie and Cyrus are forced to
sit down and talk. They are drawn together until Josie's past comes calling.
Will he be able to keep her safe?
If this had just been about a single mom getting her groove
on the story would have been so much better. Instead, we throw in a psycho ex
who is trying to take the kid and mom back no matter what Josie wants. We get a
fake marriage to a former security person who does nothing to keep her safe. It
angered me and I an skipping the rest of the series.
Arin is stuck on an overloaded Freighter waiting on Earth to
let them land and trying to keep the peace between the humans and Kordolians.
When some of her men attack Rykal, he takes care of them before she can and it
leads to even more tension. When the ship is attacked and they need to vacate
immediately will the humans and Kordolians work together to save everyone?
This one was a little different from the other ones. There
was still the romance between Arin and Rykal but it was more political issues
and drama between human and alien.
Nimue is responsible for her family. She inherited her
family's curse and she needs to figure out away to fix it before it passes to
one of her sisters. Her solution is to kidnap Harris Barclay a competing
elemental. The problem besides the ethical issue of kidnapping two
elementalists can't be in the same space without catastrophic issues. Plus,
when his family discovers he's been kidnapped they live a third elementalist to
track them. Trajan is good at his job and soon finds them and each use their
magic that creates a bubble world. What is this world and will it help them?
The writing was good but the story was a little convoluted.
The world building was also a little weird. There was also a parking issue
where there was a lot of action then the story wondered then more action. So,
it was just an Ok book and feel she has better ones out there.
Tarak and Abbey are back. He's still trying to put fires out
but with Abbey pregnant he wants to be home with her and take care of them.
Problems come to their door. Will Tarak be able to keep her and the baby safe?
I liked revisiting Tarak and Abbey. This made their story be
more rounded and I loved seeing an established relationship as it allowed the
author to jump right in. This is listed as book 4 but is better read as3 as it
gives away somethings for that book as couple for book 4 are already together
in this one. If you've liked the other two books you will like this one.
He expected a mafia princess but she’s so much more.
Danger’s Heir, a sexy romantic suspense novel set in the mafia world from New York Times bestselling author Mari Carr and award-winning author Lila Dubois is out now!
She fell in love, got married…and it was all a lie. They expected a mafia princess, but when Rodrigo meets the woman his father is forcing him to marry, he realizes Giada is much more than she seems. Smart and dangerous, she’s the kind of woman he could love…too bad everything he’s about to tell her is a lie. Casson knows Rodrigo is in too deep. Rodrigo’s undercover mission as the heir to a powerful Camorra don should have ended long ago, but now he’s engaged to the daughter of another dangerous man, and it’s Casson’s job to pull him out.
There’s just one problem. Giada. She’s nothing either man expected, and everything they want. The last thing they expect is for Giada to invite both of them to her bed. As the wedding day looms closer, and enemies close in, the line between what's real and what's a lie becomes blurred, and Rodrigo and Casson have to decide if love is enough. And if they should tell her the truth. Unfortunately, there’s someone else waiting in the wings to make sure they never say “I do.”
Antonio Starabba slid into his desk chair with a sigh. He would have stifled the sigh if there’d been anyone else in the room besides his husband and wife. Karl was working, papers spread out on the low table in the center of the small seating area. Leila was occupied with something less casual. She was disassembling and reassembling a sniper rifle with alarming quickness.
Antonio wasn’t one for guns, but his wife was sexy in a very dangerous way while holding a large gun. No one but himself and Karl ever got to see her with it, since on those occasions that she reactivated her expertise as a sniper, her targets never saw her.
“You don’t have to stay,” Antonio said in Italian. His spouses were now fluent in the language of Antonio’s home territory.
“Do you want us to leave?” Karl didn’t look up.
“Never.”
“Then we’ll stay for quiet moral support.”
“I’m not going to be quiet.” Leila smiled. “I’ll keep practicing. One of them might recognize the sound.”
“Is it a good idea to threaten the fleet admiral?” Now Karl did look up.
“I’m not threatening him.” There was a sinister clack as she popped a piece into place. “This is for those morons in Castile.”
Antonio grunted his agreement with that statement even as he turned on his computer. It would take a few minutes for the secure video chat to come online.
“How’s Milo?” Karl asked.
Asking about Milo Moretti wasn’t the subject jump it might have seemed. Milo’s wife was the flashpoint for their current crisis, through no fault of her own. Several months ago, Dr. Talya Maes had been kidnapped by the mafia. She’d been held prisoner alongside human trafficking victims, but she’d been taken to help the Camorra with a very different sort of crime. They’d wanted Talya to create a bio-weapon. A drug that would turn people into caution-less super soldiers.
The entire Talya situation had been a mess from beginning to end. First because despite the fact that Talya was a member of the Masters’ Admiralty, Europe's oldest still-functioning secret society, no one had noticed she’d gone missing. The society was divided geographically into nine territories, whose borders were based on maps and empires far older than modern Europe. It just so happened that Talya had lived along one of the borders, which cut through modern-day Belgium, and each territory thought she was a member of the other.
Antonio had publicly expressed disapproval with the admirals of France and Germany for failing Talya, but secretly he felt sorry for them. Being the head of a territory wasn’t easy, or fun. Antonio had never wanted to be a territory leader. Never wanted to be admiral of Rome, which encompassed Italy, all the coastline of the Adriatic sea, and the major islands in the Mediterranean. However, that was exactly what he’d become after his father, the previous admiral had been severely wounded in a bombing. Antonio had been named acting admiral while his father recovered, and eventually his father had stepped down. Antonio had expected his father to resume the admiralship, but his father’s long recovery, coupled with his pride at seeing Antonio holding the position of admiral, had pushed him to retire.
The position of admiral of Rome should have gone to his sister, Sophia. Instead she was now living in England, both the territory and the modern-day country, and married to two good men, including England’s admiral. She would have made a brilliant admiral if fate, and the previous fleet admiral, hadn’t intervened. But her leadership and skills hadn’t been wasted. When the current fleet admiral, Eric Ericsson, whom Antonio was about to meet with, had taken an unplanned, unsanctioned vacation, Sophia was the one he’d left in charge. Sophia, who’d been taught to lead, negotiate, and manipulate since she could talk, was also the lead on building a relationship with the Americans, but that was a separate issue.
Talya Maes’ months of imprisonment by the Camorra ended when a Spanish member was also kidnapped, and one of Antonio’s security officers, Milo Moretti, helped orchestrate her rescue. Milo had seen Talya during that op and vowed to return to free her even before anyone knew that she was a member of the Masters’ Admiralty.
And if the rescue had been the end of Talya, Milo, and Henri’s story, Antonio wouldn’t be having this meeting.
His computer dinged, signaling that the meeting was connecting.
“Hold on, let me get back to the part that makes the scary noise,” Leila muttered, quickly disassembling the long rifle.
“You’re terrifying sometimes.” Karl murmured, still engrossed in his work.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, geliefde.”
Antonio smiled at his spouses, but quickly blanked his expression as his camera turned on.
Three video windows appeared, including his own. In the first, two men sat side by side in a dim concrete room. From the intel Antonio had on Castile-–the territory that contained modern-day Spain and Portugal–-Antonio assumed they were calling from the bunker-like ops headquarters in the basement of one of the territory-owned buildings.
Admiral Santiago De Leon was older and, while fairly new in his position, he was a powerful admiral. The man beside him, Vicente Coval, was also powerful, but in a dark, deadly way that befit a security minister. Each territory was ruled by three people, with the admiral as the main power. However, an admiral could be overruled by his vice admiral and security minister. The trinity checks and balances system was meant to stop any one admiral from abusing their power, though as Hungary could attest to, that didn’t always work.
The leadership was a trinity, as were the relationships among members. The defining characteristic of the Masters’ Admiralty was arranged marriages between three people. Antonio had grown up in the society and, to him, the idea of a relationship with just two people felt…unbalanced and odd.
The third window held the fourth attendee of this meeting. The fleet admiral was the leader of the society. Not part of any territory, the fleet admiral’s power was checked not by a trinity leadership model, but by the nine territory admirals.
Antonio examined Eric and acknowledged to himself that if the time ever came that they needed to move against the fleet admiral, he’d have Leila shoot him from a distance.
For a moment there was heavy silence, then Eric spoke.
“I was going to sing.”
Antonio sighed to himself, Leila smothered a snort, and Karl looked up, his glasses making him look ridiculously sexy.
“Sing, Fleet Admiral?” Santiago asked with a quick smile.
“Have you seen The Sound of Music? Remember that ‘problem like Maria’ song?” They’d been speaking French, but he switched to English. “I was going to make it ‘problem like Rodrigo’ but I couldn’t get the verses to fit. Hard to rhyme stuff with mafia.”
“The Camorra,” Antonio said. “Not just the mafia.”
Eric leaned back in his chair, seeming to consider. “No, I don’t think that makes the rhyming easier. English is a ridiculous language.”
That they could all agree on, since both Castellano and Italian were clearly superior. Antonio wasn’t sure about Eric’s native Danish, but Leila said it was a beautiful language.
“Rodrigo is not a problem,” Vicente said, cutting through the light moment.
“Yes, he is,” Antonio countered. “He’s clearly defected. Understandable, but not an excuse.”
During the prep to save Talya, it was discovered that Rodrigo was the secret son of a Camorra don. That same don was holding Talya Maes, so Rodrigo had been sent in to the mafia–it could hardly be called undercover since it was his real identity–to rescue her. Talya was safe, finally, but Rodrigo had refused to back out.
Antonio felt sympathy for the man, but it didn’t change the facts. “He’s given up his–”
“He’s given up nothing. He is still one of us. Still loyal,” Vicente insisted.
Antonio understood the other man’s stout defense. As security minister of Castile, Vicente was the leader of that territory’s security officers. While law and order within the society was overseen by the knights, headed by the vice admiral, the quiet, dangerous work was the purview of the security officers. Antonio had been a security officer before being forced into the position of admiral. And Rodrigo, the subject of today’s meeting, was…had been…a security officer for Castile.
“He kidnapped…re-kidnapped…Dr. Maes,” Antonio said. “His job was to rescue her, which he did, and he should have stopped there.”
“She came to no harm,” Vicente countered. “If you’d spoken to Talya, as I have, you would know that Rodrigo didn’t hurt her.”
“I have spoken to Dr. Maes, as she is now a member of my territory, and married to one of my security officers.”
Milo was more than just a security officer. Milo was Antonio’s friend, but he wouldn’t disclose anything so personal in this venue.
“If you object to the burning of your territory, that was your man, not Rodrigo.”
After Rodrigo kidnapped Dr. Maes, Milo and Henri Fortin had chased him across France and Italy. As they pursued, they waged a small war. Billionaire Henri had attacked the Camorra on paper, buying up companies and taking control of ports they used. Milo had been more direct–he’d set fire to every Camorra property he could find. Privately, Antonio had asked Milo what the fuck he’d been thinking, as all that property damage was risky and drew attention. Milo had replied that Antonio should be grateful he’d chosen fire and not C4.
“Did you fiddle?” Eric asked.
Antonio’s eye twitched. That joke was getting old, even if he himself had been thinking something along those lines. “I’m no Nero, and this isn’t about the fires. It’s about Rodrigo. He’s his father’s son.”
“No,” Vicente insisted. “He never hurt Talya. And his plan worked. The Camorra think her drug isn’t viable. The kidnapping is regrettable, but there was no lasting harm from it.”
Leila and Karl both stiffened. It was slight, but Antonio caught it. They’d both been taken by a serial killer. Kidnapped and tortured, they no longer had nightmares, but what had happened would always be a part of them.
“If you believe that, then I pity your wife,” Antonio snarled. Gabriella, the Spanish heiress whose kidnapping had exposed Talya’s captivity, was Vicente’s spouse.
Vicente’s expression, already cold, froze.
“Antonio,” Eric warned.
“If he’s ignoring how his wife suffered–”
“Do not speak about my wife.”
“–then she deserves better.”
“Admiral Starabba,” Eric barked. “Stop.”
Strangely, Vicente seemed to have calmed with Antonio’s final words. “She does deserve better,” he said. “Both of my spouses do.”
“No more talking about anyone’s wives,” Eric declared.
Leila snapped two pieces of the rifle together, the noise loud and sharp.
Vicente’s eyes narrowed. He clearly recognized that sound.
On screen, Eric put his elbows on his desk and his head in his hands. “Hej, Leila.”
“Hej flÃ¥deadmiral,” she called out.
“I thought this meeting was private.” Santiago raised a brow.
“They’re here because Leila is the one who saw the article,” Antonio said.
There was silence before Eric lifted his head from his hands. “Okay, I’ll bite. What article?”
Antonio grabbed his mouse. “I told you that Rodrigo is lost to us. He belongs to the Camorra.”
“No,” Vicente insisted. “There’s a reason he’s still undercover. He is a good operative, and we need to trust him.”
Abruptly tired, Antonio shared his screen, showing everyone else the newspaper article Leila had seen. Antonio half expected that maybe Vicente already knew about it. It would make sense for him to have alerts set up to notify him of any mention of Rodrigo. But then again, he probably had alerts set up to notify him when police reports or crime information with Rodrigo’s name appeared.
He probably didn’t have an alert set up for the society pages.
“What am I looking at?” Eric said.
Antonio opened a second document, which had the small announcement translated into both French and English.
“Oh shit.” Eric sat back. “Rodrigo is getting married?”
“Rodrigo is getting married,” Antonio confirmed. “To a mafia princess.”

Autumn thought she would have more time with her grandpa but that isn't the case. She now has to decide what to do with the apple orchard. Does she move home and take care of the orchard or take one of her job offers in the city? To complicate things she's falling for her neighbors. Does she want to walk away from Boone, Hunter, and Jack for the job in the city or stay on the orchard?
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a light sweet book. No high stakes whatsoever or any kind of drama just an omegaverse romance. I liked Autumn, Boone, Hunter, and Jack. They each have their own personality and they blend well together. I was happy when they found their happy ending. I can't wait for the next one as this one pulled me out of the book slump I was in and I loved the secondary characters as much as I liked the main characters. I want to see how they get their happy ending.
Eli met and danced one dance with his dream woman Alexis.
Then her boyfriend proposed and he figured it wasn't meant to be. Several years
later he and his brothers have their hotel up and running and want to offer a
bridal option. The family decides on offering the job to Alexis. Eli still
wants her but she’s gun shy. When it looks like history is repeating itself
with her ex will they get their HEA?
This was an ok book. The brothers with all the same sounding
name made it difficult to remember who everyone was and their roles in the
book. Alexis frustrated me a lot. She was so hot and cold and ready to throw Eli
out at the first issue between them. The issue was also ridiculous. He came
upon her being assaulted by her ex-husband and he stepped in to stop it. Ex-husband
decks him first and Eli puts him down. Somehow this was an issue for her, and
it nearly broke them up. I also didn’t understand the issues with the other
family and why they continued to let them on the property. Send them a no
trespass order and keep them away. I assume they are going to end up having a
sister for one of the guys to end up with, but it just seemed weird and out of
place. Overall, it was a meh. The next one comes out this fall, but I am
leaning away from reading it.
Back on Fortuna Tau, Jia is first- rank mechanic trying to
repair Kordolians battle cruiser with no success. When she goes to find
something that will help, she's aided by second in command Kalan. He's dark and
broody which perplexes her as to why he's willing to help her. When she's
attacked by the Xargek still on the spaces station When she's attacked by the
Xargek still on the spaces station he rescues her but when they continue to
find more and need to evac everyone will they be able to get everyone to safety?
I loved these two. They were classic opposites attract. Jia
is super smart and even though she's not as strong as Tarak she saves herself
and him. When you think everyone is safe ish nope. You get drawn into more chaos
and it worked for me.
Winnie has sworn off men. She's got the worst luck in love
and she's trying to get everything else in life set. Then she gets anew
neighbor. He just so happens to be a firefighter, single father, and the
grumpiest man alive. Dex is just trying to give his girls a happy life after
the divorce. His ex micromanages everything with the girls. What he doesn't
need is a hot next door neighbor who makes him want more but do they want the
same things?
I enjoyed this book for the most part. One of the reasons
for just an ok rating was the Dex literally loses his everloving mind
repeatedly and yelling at everyone around him including his two kids. It’s
verbal abuse an apology doesn’t resolve him of the trauma that he does. If it
was a one off, it would have been fine, but it wasn’t. The writing was good,
and the world building was interesting so I will check out the other books in
the series.
Damian and Charlotte have been rivals for years. After high
school graduation they went to different colleges in California. It's been 12
years of not seeing each other and now they keep seeing each other. When Damian
tells his boss he has a girlfriend to help get an account he needs to come up
with someone. Charlotte’s mother keeps trying to set her up with another guy
she decides to create a boyfriend. Since they both need a partner they decide
to set aside their rivalry and help each other out. Will they be able to ignore
their chemistry?
I hated both of these people. I couldn’t care less about
them getting their happy ending. The biggest issue I had was Damian
literally feels he is owed the ad campaign for women issues. His boss was
perfectly fine giving him the campaign as long as he had a girlfriend. What
does that have to do with him understanding what women are looking for. This is
how we get pad ads that use blue liquid to show period blood. Charlotte was a
push over with her parents until she blew her top and then instead of owning up
to what she had to say she hid in her apartment until it blew over. Gah It was
just a no for me.
Prince Kalikian Kazharanis trying to find away to convince all of Earth that the Kordolians
don't mean any harm to them and just want a home away from the queen. He
accepts an opportunity to be interviewed by reporter Sera Aquinas hoping that
interview will clear up some misconceptions. Even though Sera thinks he's one
fine looking man her experience is people lie all the time. Will she discover
all his truths without falling for him?
I enjoyed learning about the prince's background and why he
wanted his mom dead. Sera was a nice strong woman and they worked well
together. The one downside was Kordolians seem to have the same personality and
since I just read book 1 it was very obvious. I liked it enough to keep reading
the series.
