Alpha of Grave Hills by Kathryn Moon

5 Stars

She's an omega in hiding.

Broken hearted and rejected by her beta, Brigid Grant has spent the last five years in self-imposed exile. When her former lover comes sniffing at her door, demanding she take her place back in his bed or lose her sanctuary, Brigid knows it would break more than her heart to agree.

There's only one person powerful enough to keep her out of another man's reach.

A new alpha has risen.

With the death of his father, it’s time for Torion to step into his rightful place, as Alpha of Grave Hills. Young, determined to do better for his home and his people, Torion needs to focus on the work ahead of him. What he should not do, is anger a respected beta by stealing away his omega.

It would be an even bigger mistake to fall in love with her, when his heart is the last thing she wants.

Gave this the Best book of the year for 2025. I loved Torion and Brigid. They had so much chemistry and the give and take between them was awesome. I don’t know how else to describe their relationship other than it was comfortable. It felt like they had been together for years and not just coming together. There were some miscommunications between them that is resolved pretty quickly. I love what happens to Brigid’s former mate. He definitely gets what he deserves.

Lessons with Mothman by Kathryn Moon

3.5 Stars

Elias - freelance consultant to Monster Smash Agency, and prestigiously rare moth fae - has never been in love. Granted, he's never been interested in the emotion, but with his friends mating with their clients, the new curiosity is keeping him up at night. If only he could find someone to draw him in like the moth to the flame.

Victoria is looking for facts not feelings. She wants to understand why the monster species are so much more satisfied than humans, than her. But the handsome mothman who volunteers to aid her academic study wants to stimulate more than her intelligence. She's willing to explore their physical chemistry, but she wants no part of his designs on her heart.

Love can't be taught, and it certainly can't be forced, but falling in love with the woman who refuses to let him in might just teach Elias a lesson.

I’ve loved many of Kathryn Moon’s books but this one was just ok. I liked the different monster for a love interest. I loved that he was trying to discover love like his friends had. I just didn’t connect with this one as much as I have with other books.

Alpha of Bleake Isle by Kathryn Moon

4 Stars

He's waited half a century to choose an omega.

Lord Ronson Cadogan can stall no longer. He needs an omega and he needs an heir.

Settled on the obvious perfect choice, and determined to see his fate through, Ronson can't afford to wait for the next ceremony to claim what he is owed. If only he was more excited about the match.

They call her the mouse.

Mairwen Posy knows precisely who the Alpha of Bleake Isle will choose, and it certainly isn't her. In fact, it's so predictable it's almost boring.

Resigned to her fate of disappearing into the background, Mairwen takes the role of observer, distracting the ache of being left out with the entertainment of dragonkin society's unfolding stories.

All is as expected, until the sudden twist in a familiar plot sends Mairwen in the least likely direction, right into the arms of the alpha.

I loved this take on alpha and omega. I loved Mairwen and Ronson. Mairwen was overlooked by everyone including Ronson until he realized she was the best option. The getting there was an interesting read. I loved how they connected and the journey they take to get their HEA. I loved Ronson’s right hand man and so want him to find his forever woman and be blocked as much as he blocked Ronson from having Mairwen. Can’t wait for more books.

Best New Authors of 2022

In no particular order here are just some of the new authors this year who made me crave more stories by them and to blow through their back catalog. They left me wanting more and no two are alike. There are some dark romances, academy, omegaverse, and just a mix of books here. I truly do fall for books for different reasons.

1. Kathryn Moon – I blew through everything she wrote and want more.

2. Yve Vale – She writes different kinds of stories that include space aliens and academy. This variety just worked for me this year and I read everything she had out and wanted more.

3. Lola Rocks – This is one of my all time favorites this year and I think made every list but the worst. The books just hit my feels just right and it makes me want to go back and reread/relisten to them.

4. Leona Page – Very dark books and hit the right notes with me

5. Merri Bright – This is another author where I found her back catalog and blew through everything that was available

6. Kate Messick – Reviews coming in 2023 Let’s just say her books are amazing and her character development is spot on.

7. Brenda Rothert – So many good hockey books/players

8. Kimberly Lemming – So much humor and weirdness

9. Anna Carven – So many good space aliens

10. Flora Quincy – Reviews coming in 2023 the books were good mix of Alphaholes and some really strong FMC

Faith & the Dead End Devils by Kathryn Moon

3 Stars

Faith Robins has been stolen from her brother, held captive, used against her will, and finally auctioned off to the highest bidder. With a twist of fortune before she can get to those who bought her she is rescued by an MC gang. They plan on keeping her safe and finding her, her forever pack, but it won’t be them. Will they be able to resist her?

I enjoyed the story but felt it focused more on some of Faith’s mates and not all of them equally like other books have. I wanted more of Bear and King, but they had such a small role in the story overall. I also want to know what happened after they left the MC and went out on their own. There was this whole big handover when the four guys left with Faith, but the epilogue just was about their new life and nothing about the former MC. It’s probably just a me thing but I want to know if they fell apart and if the guy who took over was ousted. It was fine but isn’t one of my favorites in this series.

Ancients by Kathryn Moon

2 / 2.5 stars

The Ancients have been released and the Joanna and her coven need to contain them, so they don’t take over the world. It will take time and energy to protect them all and keep everyone safe. Will they discover the way to contain the ancients in time?

I am still very confused by the end of this book. The story wasn’t wrapped up nicely leaving me questions and I have no idea if she will write another book in the series. Overall, I enjoyed the series just feel unfulfilled.

Scrivens by Kathryn Moon

2.5 / 3 stars

The coven is back from Vermenia but it has opened up a new problem of people running away from their government trying to hide. The university is not happy with the changes that are happening, and they may be right about not accepting them. With all that Joanna doesn’t care what they want as long as those she loves are safe and happy. When things boil over will she be able to keep everyone safe and happy?

This picked up where the last book ended and has more personal issues between the coven which was nice to see as there are growing pains. Sometimes I was confused about what was going on and things weren’t clear. Still good but very much a cliff hanger ending.

Warriors by Kathryn Moon

3 stars

Joanna and her men just want to spend their holidays together relaxing but family obligation sends them to Callum’s family home. Callum’s father Duncan is the worst, and he is claiming war is coming and wants Callum to help prepare for the war. When the worst happens, and Joanna is kidnapped will her men be able to get her safe?

I really enjoyed the first book but felt there needed to be more world building. This one confirms the need for more world building. I have no idea where anything is or why some have magic, and some don’t. I did enjoy learning more about Callan. Does end with the next book being set up so a bit of a cliff hanger esq ending.

Joanna Wick was hired has a librarian at the Canderfey University. She is barely magical and just wants to be around the books. She finds herself attracted to three professors at the university, Aiden, Callum, and Metclaffe. They are a coven waiting on their fourth. She knows she can’t have them, but she wants them. When mysterious things begin happening around campus and there’s no explanation will the four of them figure it out before more people end up dead?

Interesting fantasy book. I liked the back and forth between all the characters. I loved her magic and how she found out she had magic. It will be interesting to see where the series goes.

A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon

4 stars

Ester is on the verge of losing her position as a maid for her ill reputation. She finds a position that is perfect for her at the Rookgrave Manor where she will seduce men of different natures. She’s not sure it’s the right fit for her as she is a bit too wicked. Things are working out well for her and her men but the protections on the house are failing and this puts them all at risk. Will they discover what’s causing the problems?

This was a very interesting historical romance with more than a splash of erotica. I loved how open Esther was and her need to please her men. There was a lot of sex but also a story that went with it. I enjoyed all the supernaturals and that they are all look for love. The biggest issue I had was the lack of world building. You eventually get an understanding but it’s much further in the book then it should be. The other bad – the next book doesn’t come out until next year.

Summerland Complete Collection by Kathryn Moon

3 stars

Lucy had been excited about her honeymoon until her fiancé left her at the altar. She didn’t want to give up her trip, so she goes by herself. She ends up in a strange town with strange people who she likes. Lucy begins to fall for different men in town and she’s not sure it’s ok. When she finds out the town’s secret will she stay?

This was an interesting take on gods and mortals. Biggest issue was no world building and it ends with so many questions. Moon said she’s going to do more but none so far. Lucy getting a new guy every time she turned around got old. All in between each of the shorts it was a good story but needed some work.

Princess's chosen by Kathryn Moon

 3.5 Star

Princess Bryony and her chosen have settled in the North has been interrupted by a visit from her grandmother and sister. Camellia. Camellia is even worse to her chosen Then before. Bryony finally wins her grandmother over before everything implodes. The council wants Bryony out as they can't control her. Her men are helping her learn more about her hunger and how to use it to help her people. With more chaos around her will they be able to find all the plots and keep everyone safe.

All the world building out of the way with book 1 made this book even better. Bryony does collect more men in this book. I am curious if she will get any more in the last book. I enjoyed seeing the growth of Bryony and her men. Having her grandmother finally except her was awesome to see. Seeing Bryony come into her own and learn more about who she is and who she wants to be also made the book good. The main points of the book are concluded but it ends with a cliffhanger esq ending where you're going to want to start the next one right away.

Queen's Line by Kathryn Moon

3 star

Bryony is the Princess of Kimmery. She's always been the odd one in her family as she's never been struck by the hunger. Without the hunger her grandmother isn't sure who will rule the Kingdom. Her grandmother forces her to select her chosen this year. She selects a random man she feels a connection to but refuses to bed them as she won't force them. When she hears to concoct news from the north and her "chosen" to concoct a plan to help those in the north and give Bryony a break. Will Bryony get the hunger?

This was an interesting new series. Bryony was a strong lead. There was good world building and the characters felt developed. It was interesting to see Bryony come into her magic. She does seem to collect men which was amusing since she didn't think she had a need for them. It will be interesting to see where the series goes.

Bad Alpha by Kathryn Moon

3 Star

Eve was hired to take out Adam, but they lied to her. They told her he was a beta but he's an omega.

Still determined to take him out but ends up mating him. Knowing she's a bad bet she sets out to help

him find a better pack. When she finds one will she be able to walk away?

Through most of this book I hated Eve. She really takes a hot minute to redeem herself. I loved the pack Eve and Adam end up with. All of them balance each other and by the end I liked Eve. It fit with all of the other's written by her in this series. I need the next one now as this ends cliff hanger esq.

3 Star

Lola is being threatened by an old alpha Wanted by the police. Her men will do whatever they need

to, to keep her safe. When one of her men is taken what is she willing to do to get him back?

This Book started right where the last ended. I liked how it all worked out. Lola gets to save the day and protect her men. This is probably the only time a part two makes sense.

Lola and the Millionaires Part One by Kathryn Moon

3 Star

Lola has spent the last year trying to work past her trauma. Her cousin thinks she needs to get out and gets her a job at a fashion magazine. She can't handle being around alphas and she hides it well until she's surrounded by them. Even though they wouldn't hurt her, she's rescued by another beta. She's very attracted to him, but he already has a pack and an omega. She's not sure she wants all that entails,

When a man from her past resurfaces putting her, in danger the pack steps in. Will the keep her?

I wasn't a huge fan of Lola in book 1. This book redeems her. She went through a lot in the last book and she's working through it. I wasn't sure about the part one and two, but it actually makes sense. The issues with the guy carries over so a bit of a cliff hanger but not. We do have some of the world explained in this book. Overall, I enjoyed this and need to go and read part two.

Baby and Late-Night Howlers by Kathryn Moon

3 Star

Baby always thought she was a beta until one night with her friend Lola, all of a sudden, she changes to an omega. Now her hold life changes. She has to find a pack of Alphas to knot her and keep her happy and sated. Baby goes against the grain and picks a motorcycle club to mate with. Now she just has to prove she's there forever if they want her.

This was an interesting story. I feel it needed more world building. Still have no idea on what the rules

are for this world. Are Shifters know or are they in hiding? I also was really confused by why Baby was

Still considering Cole when she didn't like him. I also really really really hated her name. Overall, the

book was ok. It just needed some work.

3 Star

Nötchka is on a run to drop off a part she a Scavenged when her heat burn kicks in. She doesn't

want to mate with anyone as she's happy with her life so she goes to the Droid district. She's

low on funds so she strikes a bargain to repair the droids for help with her heat burn. Will she

make it through her heat burn without being mated.

I enjoyed the story but there is no world building at all. We start on this world, and we know nothing about how anything runs or what the rules are. I liked the book and the story just felt things were missing. Interested in seeing if she makes this a series or a one off

2 Stars

A succubus has taken refuge with one of the few remaining human encampments. She needs to stay away from hell as her former boss wants to use her and abuse her. Will Deyva be able to help the humans stay safe from hell?

There is no world building in this book. Hell is on earth but no exclamation about how or why

or why. I liked Deyva a lot and her men all are due a major comeuppance. Basically, this book is all about sex & not much else. If that’s what you’re looking for the writing was good, but it felt lacking in story.
