Kissing Under the Mistletoe by Marina Adair

3.5 Star

Regan has been dealt a really crappy hand in life.  She lost her job, house, and her reputation all for falling for the wrong man.  After struggling to find a job in the wine industry for the next 6 years she finally lands a good job working in Napa Valley for a new wine company.  This allows her a fresh start and her daughter gets to be enrolled in a good school.  The problems start when she finds out that her new boss is none other then Gabe DeLuca the man who has made her life hell since finding out her fiancĂ© was married to Gabe’s sister.  He wants nothing more then for her to disappear and not cause is little sister any more harm.  Gabe wants her gone but maybe he can use her first to find out where the lousy ex went with some stolen capital.

I accidently read these out of order.  I don’t know if I would have necessarily read this series if I had started with this book.  Gabe was a major asshole throughout the majority of this book and I never truly felt he redeemed himself at any point in this book.  The saving grace was the writing itself was really good.  I enjoyed the rest of the members of DeLuca family.  Regan also doesn’t score major points for me either as she is kind of a doormat and let Gabe do a lot of things to her and her daughter and just kind of lets him.  There are moments of her having a backbone but ultimately lets him get away with a lot of shit that he should have been called on.
