Ava’s brother just killed himself and she finds out he was
working for her boss. The boss doesn’t care that the debt was her brother’s he
expects her to fulfill the agreement. He is willing to settle for a night with
her. Ava agrees to track down what went missing but instead runs. Every time
she thinks she’s safe he shows up to try and capture her. When her car breaks
down outside a car shop, she begs the owner, Forge, for help. As a dragon
demigod Forge ignores humans and wants nothing to do with her until her boss
assaults her outside his shop and disappears. Now he will figure out who the
boss is and why he’s after Ava all without falling for her.
I enjoyed this story. It was new and different take on dragon
shifter story. Ava has her own secrets that are revealed in the story. I loved
the interplay between Forge and his “brothers”. I did want more world building
and to know how the dragon demigods all came about. Overall, it was a good
start to a new series.
