Books to the ceiling, Books to the sky, My pile of books is a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.
- Arnold Lobel
Six months ago, Rowan's life imploded. She lost her sister and
then was forced to move across the country. Her dad works out of town and
barely comes home, and her mom hates her. She just wants to blend in at school
and get it done so she can get out. Her knew classmates see her and realize how
special she is, and they take it on to get her happy and healthy. The guys want
her to come into her powers. Will those who want to keep them apart win?
This would have been a pretty good
story if the characters were a tad older. The majority of them
were under 18 and I found the sex
scenes of 17 year olds skeavy. Beyond this big issue there is a
major pacing issue and lack of
world building. The beginning of the book is slow and then the end
is so fast paced. Then it ends on
a cliffhanger. This is one I would skip it.
Luka is sent in to find out about any secret labs being used
for researching the fertility issues his people is having. Instead of finding
them and getting out he’s captured and forced to participate in them. Alice is
coerced into pleasing Luka until they can escape. When they finally get out
Luka still wants Alice but thinks she doesn’t want him and is traumatized but
she’s his chosen mate. Will he find a way into her heart?
Where I liked the first book in the series, I hated this one
soooo much. Alice was just horrible. She never once stopped to think about the
fact that she was on another planet with different rules and behaviors. Maybe
just maybe the reason Luka was acting the way he was that offended her so much
was the norm on the planet. She kept him waiting and waiting and just made him
so miserable because he was trying to please her even if it went against
everything he knew. I will still try out the next one but this one will not be
revisited ever.
Shaya is rejected by her true mate Nick she leaves her pack
for parts unknown. Months laten Nick. finds her and is trying to make it right.
Will they both take the time and have patience to find their forever?
I was a bit bored with this book. Partly because I had read
the Mercury Pack series already but also because this book was slow. Nick
pissed me off as he still wasn't honest with Shaya and then got mad with her
for not rusting him. When all the secrets came out, I wanted to head slap Nick
for being so stupid. Overall, this one probably leans more towards 3.5 stars
but still interesting
Raven and her men survived the trials but now there is a new
enemy that escaped from the Fae Realm. This fae wants something that Raven has,
and she has to willingly give it to him. She will need to survive his attacks
as well as doing the trials over again as the school board nullified those
results.
This is a good conclusion to the series. I was a little
irritated by Raven towards the end of this one because she was assuming her men
were all going to leave her. Didn’t talk it over with them just assumed.
Overall, if you like academy books this is a pretty good one to read and I
enjoyed the series.
Number one rule fae have is to not let the humans discover
them. Cambria keeps the secret well until she steals from Lucien, Atlas, and Dorian.
To get their wallets they discover her secret. To prevent them from being
killed she takes responsibility for them. This means living together and
staying out of trouble. If only there weren't people out to get her.
I really wanted to like this book. The book dragged on a
lot, and I kept putting it down. Then it ends on a cliffhanger. These two
issues plus a lack of world building made this book a failure for me. Even
though it ends on a cliff I'm not continuing
Raven’s magic has come back, the Time Thief has been destroyed
so life should be easier for Raven but they’re not. She now has to prepare for
the trials. The school is changing how they are done this year. Instead of
attempting them on their own they are now placed in groups. Raven is matched
with Ben, Matt, Zach, and Luka. They will have to work together to survive the
trials.
There is a huge OMG in this book that I sort of saw coming
but it was still interesting to get to it. I loved that things were revealed in
this book and still left some questions for the last book. I enjoyed the growth
of the relationships between Raven and her men. Overall, it was a good addition
to the series, and I enjoyed it but cliffhanger esq ending.
Jamie has been crushing on Dante for years, but she's
reached a point where she knows he's not interested. She's hiding a big secret
and she can't let anyone know so it's time to move on. Dante is used to the
flirting from Jamie and when it stops, he's concerned. When he finds out what
her secret is will he be able to help her?
I liked these two. The story flowed nicely, and we didn't
need any world building. Her big bad secret was nice but the way the pack
reacted was ridiculous. Everyone but her brother, Taryn, and Dante hit my list
of shitty friends. I Loved how the book ends. Good addition to the series.
Pro hockey player Archer Holt is taking his charm and swagger from the ice to the...sand? One of sixteen players competing to be the last man standing on a new reality show, he’s all in until he finds out the meaning behind the show’s title—Exiled.
Archer
Before I was a pro hockey player, I was an Eagle Scout. I can tie knots, build shelters and fish like nobody’s business, making me the perfect choice to represent my team on a reality show set on a primitive tropical island. I can endure scorching heat, tough competitions and torrential rainfall—no problem. But when I find out who my partner is, I’m not so sure I’ll survive being stranded on an island with her.
Lauren
Archer Holt broke my heart eight years ago. Now he’s rich and famous, and I’m a high school English teacher in our hometown. When I’m offered the chance to compete for half a million dollars by outlasting fifteen other teams on an island with my selfish jerk of an ex, I jump at it, because that money can change not just my life, but my family’s. Besides, I’m long over Archer.
Brenda Rothert is an Illinois native who was a print journalist for nine years. She made the jump from fact to fiction in 2013 and never looked back. From new adult to steamy contemporary romance, Brenda creates fresh characters in every story she tells. She’s a lover of Diet Coke, lazy weekends and happily ever afters.
Gin Fielding is just waiting for graduation. She wants to
keep her head down until she can finally get out of the small town in Missouri.
One day she comes across a younger girl being beaten by a senior. She
intervenes and takes the beating meant for the younger girl. Come to find out the
girl was Football player Chase Matthews little sister. He is determined to
thank her by making her popular. He offers her a rose to be apart of the super
elite Sweet Sixteen. She refuses as she 1. Doesn’t want to be popular, 2. Is
sure she doesn’t want to be apart of the horrible tradition of Sweet Sixteen,
and 3. Doesn’t want her first time to be with the entire football team. Chase
is baffled by her decision to not participate in Sweet Sixteen. Her refusal also
leads to problems for both of them. Gin and Chase are brought closer together and
are forced to take on the darker side of small-town life.
I loved this book. I met the author at an event. I’ve never
read anything by her and got two books from her. This one and Anton (review
coming). I picked up the other one as it was a hockey book and then asked for a
recommendation as I didn’t want to get two hockey books. She suggested this one
but said it was weird. I don’t think it was weird at all. It is very much a
good high school drama book and it just hit the right spot and the subject
matter was spot on for what’s been going on in the world today. I loved how
Chase has the epiphany about the Sweet Sixteen being bad and learns and grows. Even
though it has a lot of undertones for the me too movement it isn’t preachy in
anyway. If you like high school drama books this will hit all the right notes. Best
purchase of the book event I was at followed closely by her other book.
Lily hasn't been home in years after the death of her sister
and then her dad. After a bad break up she's home to help her friend out. She
will have to confront her past to move on and maybe find her happy ending.
I really enjoyed this one. Lily has a lot of guilt over her
sister's death and feels she can't be with Aiden because her sister wanted him.
She had to work through her guilt. Aiden also had to work through his own
issues so they could be together. I loved Aiden's mom's meddling to get these
two together. This one is right at the top of favorites by Shalvis.
Sierra was kidnapped by insurgents, and she thought she was
never going to get free. She regretted not getting to know Grover better and
not being able to see her family one more time. When Grover is thrown into the
cell next to her, she is happy to see him but also devastated that he is there.
He and his team are able to get her home but is she truly safe?
I’ve been waiting forever for this book. Sierra has been
held for a year by terrorists and Grover saves her and she repays him. I loved
the fact that Stoker showed them working through this trauma before getting
together. I loved how Sierra saves the day in the end. Stoker also included an
epilogue that goes out several years and I love seeing where Stoker sees her
character in the future.
With all her history finally revealed. She knows what she
has to do. The problem she's not sure she can. Will she be able to take out her uncle and get rid of the corruption
plaguing the packs?
Well, the series is done, and I am left with questions. Why
do they have King/Queen? Why couldn't a mate bond be broken without Someone
dying? Particularly when the mate is abusive! Overall, the book and series were
not the best and I would skip it.
Raven’s magic has disappeared because of the Time Thief, and
she will do anything to bring it back including working with the weird teacher
and getting closer to Matt and Zach. Even if she gets her magic back, she still
can’t use it as that will lead to her going to prison. Which is the worse
outcome?
This continued where book one ended and was right on par
with the first one. The story moved nicely but ends on a cliffhanger esq ending
which makes for a very long night of reading so I can see where things end up.
Be warned.
Noelle has had a crappy year. The plans on spending her
night drinking eggnog, alone. A helpful stranger helped her get her Christmas
tree in she unknowingly invited Krampus into her home. He's there to punish
her for her very un-Christmas cheer. He's going to show her
what happens to people who end up on the naughty list.
This is marketed as para rom but was pure erotica. Nothing
wrong with that. It's a short and not so sweet BDSM book. If that's what you
like you will like this one.
WARNING this book has a very explicit rape scene and forced
sexual contact throughout the rest of the book. If this is a trigger for you
skip. Well skip anyways see review for why.
Evelyn just wants her best friend back, but he moved away
and now that he’s back he’s not the same. When her friend and she go to a party
and her friend is raped Evelyn is blackmailed into being their tribute. Secrets
are revealed. Will she be able to handle what is revealed?
I skimmed this book to see how it ends because I couldn’t
get through this book after the first rape scene. It then ends on a
cliffhanger. We get all sorts of information dumped on the reader at the very
end of the story and then it ends. I was left with so many questions because of
this info dump. I didn’t enjoy the story at all, and I like a good dark/bully
romance. Rape was a plot point. It was not taken seriously at all and Evie just
kind of brushes off her friend’s rape. There was nothing redeemable from her
guys. They sucked through the end of the book. Overall, I would skip this even
if you like dark/bully romance.
Betrayed by all, who is Lola supposed to turn to. Her mate
wants to complete the bond but for all the wrong reasons. The man she was interested
in betrayed her and she's not sure she wants to forgive and forget.
This one is so much worse than the first one and it still
ends in a cliffhanger. I get she was betrayed but there is only so much you can
do on your own. Plus, she doesn't seem to understand why he did what he did.
He's trying to take care of those relying on him. One more book to go.
Mia works for Goldstone INC as a data analysis and market
trends. Her team works alone but still has to answer to Goldstone INC’s CEO
Thomas Goldstone. He’s driven, arrogant, and controlling. He’s all business
until he meets Mia. When some discrepancies turn up will their relationship
survive?
This book was so slow and tedious. I found myself skimming
the book to try and find something interesting. I like Mia and her weirdness
but hated Thomas. He cared more about his business then Mia and it took him a
while to get there. I just don’t see them working out long term as they are too
different. This book needed more world building. Overall, MEH save yourself
time and avoid.
Jade isn't sure what she's going to do. She's been kidnapped by aliens and dropped on a random island where she's now expected to mate with someone on their island never to head home again. She meets several men and non work for her until she meets the stoic Theo. Theo is scarred per his people's beliefs and he's sure this choosing isn't going to be any different then the last with him being rejected. When he is selected he's sure it is some kind of set up and is determined to discover what Jade is up to. Will they find their happily ever after?
I enjoyed this one. I like space romances and this ticked all the boxes for me. I loved the miscommunications between Jade and Theo. When Theo gets his comeuppance I laughed. He tried to use his dog to get rid of her and is shocked when she loves the dog. Overall, it was a good start to a series and I can't wait to read the rest of them.
Raven didn’t know she had magic until she killed two men
with fire who were trying to assault her. She’s given the choice to go to the
special academy or go to magic prison. She chooses to head to school with hopes
to figure out what is going on with her. While at school she attracts the
attention of the four most eligible men. They all want to help her for their
own reasons. Will she have to pick which man she ends up with?
I enjoyed the story for the most part. I didn’t like the I
have to have you oh wait this stuff behind the scenes say no so I am going to
withdraw my friendship from you to appease people. All without actually telling
her any of this. Looking at you Ben the shapeshifter. Luka was an interesting
take on Incubus with his ability to drop into her dreams. I also really liked
the twins Matt and Zach. Overall, I enjoyed the story enough to continue with
the series to see how it will all play out.
Lola is about to be able to leave her town for good. Never
able to shift and abused by all including her potential mate she just wants
out. The night she's able to leave her fated mate attacks her and leaves her
for dead. She is able to get away and ends up with the rogues. Will She find
her place with them, or will her birth pack find her?
I enjoyed this book up to the end when it ended on a
cliffhanger. I can see why the twist at the end happened, but it did frustrate
me. We will see how the next book works out.

Grace comes from a family of magic, and everyone wants to
marry her for her connections. All she wants is to find someone who will love
her for her and not care about her familial connection. Elliot, Boderick, and
Alasdair are looking for someone to round out their family and Grace is that
person. The problem she was only planning on one spouse and not sharing. When
she finds out the truth will she accept?
I enjoyed this story. It wasn’t the best nor the worst book.
I enjoyed the three gargoyles a lot and they each had their own personality
that meshed well. I had more problems with Grace. She was a bit whiney and was
a bit of a downer. Overall, it was an interesting story and I enjoyed it.
Lyric and her pack are thriving. When one of their kids’ spells
goes awry will they be able to fix it?
What was the point of this book? We get a future glimpse of
the pack and that's about it. It doesn't add to the series. It should have been
an epilogue on the last book.
Lady Norr was forced to stay married to a man she doesn’t
want and who won’t give her the child she does want. When Orcs attack their home,
and she is taken. The orcs are hoping to use her to get her husband to agree to
be civil to them and allow them to live in peace. The problem is that he doesn’t
care what happens to her. Will she find some happy in her life?
I enjoyed this book. Grimarr is a dick and eventually makes
it up to Jules but there’s one thing he does I don’t think he ever makes it up
to Jules. You have all the feels for Jules as she has been given a shit hand
over and over again. She copes through a lot of it but eventually holds her
own. Can’t wait to see what the next book brings.
Delilah has been kidnapped by vampires must find a way to
save herself and the other wolf they have. Once she's free She finally gets the
answers of why she was exiled but it leads to more questions of how to banish
the curse. Will they stop the vampires and break the curse?
Meh. I skimmed this book to get answers. It ends on another
cliffhanger, and I just don't care enough about it to continue. She literal
ends up with every guy her age.
OK so I'm going to review the bloodwood Academy shifters
Semester 1234 Plus the short story altogether the reason for that is that none
of them are complete stories you need to read all of them to get the entire
story it's not just a cliff hair ending it is literally the book ends and the
next book starts, and you need that next book so they're all getting reviewed
together in one review. Since it is all 4 books there is spoilers in both the
synopsis and the review.
Ivy thought she was a
normal girl praised by a meth mother neglected and abused until she discovered
werewolves. She's offered a full ride at the magic Academy me all she does is
have to go and learn who she is and who she is and control who she is. Once she
gets there, she meets her man who she wants but doesn't think she can have.
Finn, Howell and Saxon Complete who she is and she wants to be with them but
there are forces that don’t want them together and expect them to not be
together will they discover who is behind all of their problems and find a way
to take out the bad guys and be together Complete who she is and she wants to
be with them but there are forces that don’t want them together and expect them
to not be together will they discover who is behind all of their problems and
find a way to take out the bad guys and be together
The premise of the
series is that we have this girl who doesn’t know who she is she’s been
severely neglected and abused by her mom and she finds out she is a shifter. Each
semester she learns a little bit more about who she is what she is and who each
of her mates are and why she was supposed to be kept a secret. Overall, all 5
of these books were ok my biggest complaint is that it is literally like sold
as individual stories and they're not you have to like you can't just pick up
book 4 and read book 4 you have to actually read books 1 through 3 to
understand what's going on in book 4.Not to mention demon lost isn’t even part of the original series it’s a
short story that you will have to read to get Ivy’s complete story because she
won’t get her final mate until this book. I finish all of it but ultimately
it's not the series I would recommend just because there are so many issues
with it and that is just one of the main ones there are a couple pot holes like
she's supposed to be All-powerful but yet she's getting her ass kicked every
time she turns round and the sex scenes end up being really not overly the best
in all the books that I've read so it's fine if you want to lose yourself in a
couple books and a couple books that Don't take a lot of thinking I finish all
of it but ultimately it’s not the series I would recommend just because there
are so many issues with it and that is just one of the main ones there are a couple
pot holes like she’s supposed to be All-powerful but yet she’s getting her ass
kicked every time she turns round and the sex scenes end up being really not

The pack was able to get away from the enemy. Wow Lyric
needs to find her dad to take Out those who want to enslave the wolves. It
won't be easy, but it has to be done. In the process who will they lose?
So many questions left over with the conclusion. What
happened to all the wolves enslaved? What
about the council or the promises Lyric made? Just a very
unfulfilled feeling reading this book.
Seven years ago, Delilah was rejected by her mate, thrown
out of her pack, and left on her own at 14. Now her dad has died leaving her
everything. She will have to see her mate and deal with all her hurt. When she
finally arrives, she is surprised to find all the woman gone. Will she discover
why all the women are dead and why her dad sent her away?
This book started out so promising. I was enjoying the story
but got brought down with the attraction to every single male her age in her life.
It got old real fast. By the end when it ended in a cliffhanger, I was mad. I
wasn't interested in continuing with the series but felt I had to in order to
see what happens
Everything has changed Lyric and her men are on the run
trying to get away from the witches. The
witches want to collar all wolves to use them for their
magic. Will Lyric and her men find a safe way through?
This book was all over the place. The character jumped from
here to there and argued the whole Wray. Joked even though things were dire.
Overall, this book really confused me.
Princess Bryony and her chosen have settled in the North has
been interrupted by a visit from her grandmother and sister. Camellia. Camellia
is even worse to her chosen Then before. Bryony finally wins her grandmother
over before everything implodes. The council wants Bryony out as they can't
control her. Her men are helping her learn more about her hunger and how to use
it to help her people. With more chaos around her will they be able to find all
the plots and keep everyone safe.
All the world building out of the way with book 1 made this
book even better. Bryony does collect more men in this book. I am curious if
she will get any more in the last book. I enjoyed seeing the growth of Bryony
and her men. Having her grandmother finally except her was awesome to see.
Seeing Bryony come into her own and learn more about who she is and who she
wants to be also made the book good. The main points of the book are concluded
but it ends with a cliffhanger esq ending where you're going to want to start
the next one right away.
