Heat Clinic by Alexis B Osborne
4 Stars
Emily has never had a good heat cycle and with her
being single she has a couple of options. One she’s never done before is attending
a free heat clinic for relief. After signing all the agreements, she wonders if
this is her life. She’s assigned a heat minder beta named Sam. He’s everything
she wants but doesn’t have the knot she needs. She needs him to take care of
her. The knots are nameless, faceless men who give her what she needs and he’s
taking care of everything else. At the end of her first day, her last alpha
Marcus gives her everything she needs. Marcus thinks she’s his mate but isn’t
sure how she will feel about his beta mate Tom. He’s willing to jump through the
hoops the clinic requires but it’s not just Emily he wants with them but also
Sam. When the heat breaks will they all still want each other?
These were older characters which is nice to read. A
lot of sex but still had a decent story. I would have liked it more with the
families since there was so much drama with them. I liked that it was different
from other omega books. The clinic is an interesting concept for an omega book.
I’ve seen it done similarly but not quite like this. I will be looking for more
books by this author as I blew through this one very quickly.

Knot Your Fairy tale by Jarica James
3.5 Stars
Ellie spent 3 months filming a reality show to find
a chosen pack. She thought she had found her pack when she is rejected on film
for another omega who she thought was her friend. They humiliated me and she
wants nothing more to do with the tv show but is contractually obligated to do
some interviews. She may have to do those interviews, but she doesn’t have to
stay in town. She decides to spend some time with her brother in a small town to
get away from everything. She was planning on laying low and avoiding everyone when
she finds her fated mates. It starts with one mate and then several more. It’s
not smooth sailing with them as there is conflict between some of them and she’s
not sure if she can help them resolve the issues. When people from the show wind
up in town how will they work it out?
This would have been a solid 4 except for the cliffhanger
ending. FMC is a bit quiet at times, but she does get better. I liked all the
guys she’s going to end up with so far. Though the ending means that might not
be the case. I am curious to see how it all plays out in the next book.

ABOUT THE BOOK
New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the next stand-alone novel in her “fast-paced and humorous” (Publishers Weekly) and “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews) Immortal Guardians series.
Immortal Guardians have hunted and slain psychotic vampires for thousands of years. Now someone is hunting them. Humanity remains oblivious to the existence of immortals, vampires, and gifted ones, so how does this rising nemesis even know who they are and where to find them? Could it be the machinations of an old nemesis—one they thought they defeated? Or is this something new? Because unlike the foes they’ve faced in the past, this one doesn’t just target immortals. He targets those who are near and dear to them.
A gifted one under the Immortal Guardians’ protection, Nicole has worked hard to land her dream job—that of an Immortal Guardian’s Second or mortal guard—and loves working with Sean. He’s smart. He’s funny. And despite the sometimes dark existence he leads, the two of them laugh a lot. Years spent as a special ops soldier prepared Nicole well, enabling her to keep Sean safe despite his tendency to dive headlong into danger. But can it keep her safe? The enemy they face is determined and shrewd. Uncovering his identity may require new methods of engagement and force her to take a few risks.
Sean hasn’t been immortal long, but he knows the rules. And according to the rules, Nicole is off-limits. She’s his Second. His guard. His best friend. The one person who knows him better than anyone else. Though he loves every minute he spends with her, friendship is all they can ever have... isn’t it? Sean soon begins to question that as the two of them engage in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with the enemy, one that will reveal the true depth of their feelings for each other and drive him to abandon the rules altogether.

Hex by Anna Hackett
4 Stars
Jet “Hex” Adler is the goddess of all things
technology. She is there to support the team with all intel and comms. She
loves what she does and that makes her job easy. She may be lucky with her job
but is unlucky in love. She lusts after Cain, CIA agent, but he isn’t
interested. Or so she thinks. He’s too invested in his job and doesn’t think
there is room for someone in his life, but Hex tests him. When he needs her help
catching someone selling technology secrets, he’s not happy with Hex being
placed in danger. Will he be able to keep his hands to himself?
I really enjoyed the story. Hex is all in with Cain
but he has things to work through before he can agree to the HEA. It was an
interesting journey to see. I liked the overall story as well. It flowed nicely
and makes me interested in seeing what’s next in this world.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarrows
4.5 Stars
Violet Sorrengail had spent her entire life planning
on becoming a scribe like her father. After the death of her father and brother
her mother forces her to join the other candidates to become a dragon rider. She’s
smaller than all the other candidates and has been dealing with a lifelong disability.
Everyone thinks she won’t last long as she is too fragile. Even if she lasts
long enough, they don’t think a dragon will bond with her as there are always
more people than dragons. If the tasks and dragons don’t kill her then the
other candidates will just, to get revenge against her mother. Xaden is the
most powerful wing leader and has sworn to take her out. That is until the dragons
make their decision. Will she survive?
This book had so much hype behind it I didn’t think
it would stand up. I had never read a book by Rebecca Yarrows and wasn’t
willing to buy the hard cover book at that price, so I waited for the library.
I ended up being one of the first to get the book. I blew through the dang
thing so fast and wanted the spray painted one, so I went out and bought it. It’s
somewhere between 4 and 5. It’s borderline I want to reread it already. I loved
that Violet is disabled and shows what it looks like when someone has been
dealing with long term issues. It’s a different way to view disability but for
those who have been living with issues for a long time will relate to this so
much. I loved that the Violet grows so much in this book. She is willing to
grow and change to stay alive but not everything about her changes. The big one
is her character stays the same. There are several twists and turns in the book
that kept me reading. The one character that dies was just heartbreaking and made
me so mad. There are a lot of deaths in the book but there is just one that was
just so nooooo! The ending of the book was a WTF moment and was sort of a
cliffhanger ending but not a true cliffhanger. It wraps up the main plots in this
book but ends with some new questions. I can’t wait for the next book to come
out in November.

Denied by Evelyn Flood
5 Stars
Sienna Michaels has been waiting forever for a chance
at a pack and family. She’s finally gotten the invitation to the Bonding Trials
where she is assigned a pack. She is matched with the Cohen pack, Tristan, Jax,
Logan, and Gray. They are her soul bonds and are meant to be. What she wasn’t expecting
was for them to be blackmailed into denying her. Someone wants her to be denied
which will outcast her and she will be forbidden from entering another
agreement and the city. The pack has all the options available, but she doesn’t.
No matter what they do to her she has to stick it out, so she’s not denied.
Will the pack find a way to claim her, or will she be denied?
I loved this book so much. It is so much emotional
damage but in the best way possible. I would not recommend reading this if book
2 isn’t out as it ends on a massive cliffhanger ending that made me so
incredibly angry. Like through the entire book I was saying the guys better
figure out the best way to fix this because they were massive assholes to her. They
never get the chance and that will probably be book two. I very much finished it
and wanted to reread it to find things I missed in the first read through. I’ve
had a string of 2 star books and this one just hit all the notes for me and I absolutely
loved it. Definitely pick it up and read…maybe read it after book 2 is out.
