Henley has spent her years and life to shape her
into a conscientious psychologist. She spends her days at the Refuge helping
victims with their trauma and her nights with her daughter Jasna. She has a
very fulfilling life if not lonely. She loves her bosses, even the most
standoffish one Finn “Tonka” Matlick. He had his coast guard career end and
spent the last several years building up the Refuge. When life brings them together,
they think they are finally getting everything they want. What they aren’t
aware of is someone who’s out to get Henley. Will they figure it out before it’s
too late?
This one wasn’t one of my favorites. I didn’t feel
the connection between FMC and Finn. The bad guy was an interesting choice, and
I would have liked to see it fleshed out more. Without spoilers I don’t know if
they weren’t fleshed out because of who they were or if that was how Stoker
intended them to be. The final confrontation with him was very anticlimactic. I
liked the idea of this book but that’s about it.
