Miss Hazel Lively had a difficult childhood. Now that she’s
an adult she’s trying to start a school for young girls. She must do everything
in her power to maintain her a good reputation. When Earl of Bladenton Gabriel
Beckett shows up to drop off his niece she has some rules he will have to
adhere to. Gabriel is not sure what to do with his new responsibility for his
niece and figures a school is the perfect place to keep her in line. What he
wasn’t planning on was falling for the school mistress. Will they find a way to
make it work?
I liked the set up and premise of the story. I just didn’t
buy the relationship between Hazel and Gabriel. Not just that but through most
of the book Gabriel is involved with someone else and he still sleeps with
Hazel. It was just icky. Not one of Bennett’s better books.
