Broken by Elise Faber

4 star

He loved Lexi from the moment they met. The problem she's already married. Luc decides it's better to be friends then nothing.  Until her husband's secrets are revealed and she is free.  Luc doesn't want to push to fast but he's not willing to lose her to another.  He's all in now needs her to take him out of the friend zone.  Will he be able to make her see they are great friends but better lovers?

When this book was mentioned in one of her other books I wanted to read this one so bad. It stood up to the hype. I loved seeing Luc bring Lexi around to being more than friends. It is a slow burn but once it gets going it is very spicy. I wanted both to get their happy and they did. The ending and the lead into the second book was a hold the phone moment and I need that book right now.  Can't wait for the next one.

Update

 Hi everyone

It's been a hot minute since I posted last.  Life has been crazy.  My family has been remodeling my space to give me a bedroom, walk in closet, and bathroom.

This is amazing and I can't wait for it to all be done.  The problems started almost from the beginning.  I am extremely allergic to dust and trees.  The project started about when the trees were first blooming so my allergies were going nuts with that.  Then the contractors who put in the egress window didn't cover the doors and I got cement dust everywhere.  This led to some very interesting reactions in my body including a weird lump in my lymph node that led to icing on the hour every hour to get it gone.  Throw in a vaccination that put me on my ass it has all lead to my to be read pile getting higher and me energy to read going down.  On top of all of these changes I also started a new job so my energy is at an all time low.

I took a couple weeks off.  Read/listened to some books and came up with a plan.  I like writing out the reviews and posting.  But maybe cut down for a little bit until life settles down.  I will be posting several reviews each week just not everyday.  I need time to read so I CAN review them.  So starting next month a couple times a week you will be getting some reviews and hopefully by the end of summer life will have leveled out and I can go back to everyday.

Girl's Guide to Witchcraft by Mindy Klasky

3 Star

Jane Madison is having a bad week.  Her pretend boyfriend doesn't know who she is, she found out her mother wasn't dead, and her job decided to cut her pay.  The only nice thing was she gets to move into the carriage house adjacent to the library.  When she reads from a book her life gets very interesting and magical.  She now needs to decide if she wants to take on this new path or give up all of the books and her magic.  That's not the only decision she will need to make.  Her pretend boyfriend finally saw her but there's the new guy who she's kind of interested in.  Who will she pick?

As I was reading this I kept thinking I had read this book before but it looked new...yeah this was a rerelease of a book I read when it came out.  This book was interesting.  I enjoyed the fact it started in a library and reading a book got her in trouble.  She had a lot to deal with all at once and at times irritated me.  I didn't like most of the secondary characters other than her best friend.  Overall, it was interesting book and I will be checking out the next book.

Mera was able to get the door open into the shadow realm and she and the Beast must travel through the realm to destroy his sister and take his rightful place.

I got frustrated with this book about half way through the journey to take out the Shadow Beast's sister.  When we found out he was betrothed and they still hooked up I was just kind of done.  The ending was a cliffhanger again and I hated it.  Like hated it and if I didn't want to see if there would be a HEA I wouldn't pick up the next book.

Alexa is trying to come to terms with being a food source for Rob.  She's is determined to bring Kenneth down no matter what.  Rob will help her achieve her goals.  When Rob goes missing Alexa will bring the world down around her to find him.

I struggled reviewing this book.  I enjoyed aspects of this book.  It explained more about the world Alexa is living in but there are so many more questions I have about the world.  I have no idea where the series is going and I don't particularly feel invested in Alexa or Rob.  I am very confused about this book.

Rejected by Jaymin Eve

3 Star

Mera has been bottom of the pack since her father's death.  She's biding her time until she can run before she comes into her wolf and won't be able to leave.  Even when she is able to escape she's forced back and finds out her biggest tormentor is her chosen mate.  He rejects her instantly.  When he finds out it isn't that easy she refuses to except him.  She calls on their God the Shadow Beast to help her.  When she accidently calls some shadow beings unto earth the Shadow Beast takes her and makes her help capture them.

I picked this book up because I read the other series and enjoyed it so I wanted to give it a shot. It definitely falls into the guilty pleasure type book.  I enjoyed the play between Mera and the shadow beast.  I hated every single pack member and wanted them all to suffer a horrible death.  Biggest hate was a cliffhanger ending so you will need to read the next one to get more of the story.  IF you are looking for something a bit dark and a bit weird this is your book.

Witching for Home by Deanna Chase

Witching For Hope: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel (Premonition Pointe Book 2) by [Deanna Chase]

2.5 Star

Hope loves her business and is loving life until her ex-boyfriend comes to town.  Lucas wants to start over with Hope.  He thinks they're both in the right place at the right time to make a go of it.  While she is debating this she finds out the family has a curse to contend with.  Will she give Lucas another chance?

I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood for this book or if it just hit wrong or what but this book didn't work for me.  I know I've read the first book in the series but it has been a while because of this I was thoroughly confused by some of the things in this book so apparently you need to have recently read the other book in the series to enjoy this book.  The plot it self seemed to be all of the place.  I felt like I came into the story halfway through it.  I didn't like Hope and so I never really connected with her.  This one kind of turned me off of the rest of the series so meh
