The Queen by Jennifer L Armentrout

The Queen: A Wicked Novella by [Jennifer L. Armentrout]

5 Stars

Brighton is shocked that after 40 plus days being held captive, she’s still pregnant with Caden’s baby.  Caden is determined to have her as his Queen but she’s not sure how the court will deal with a Human as his Queen.  This makes her feel she must keep the baby a secret and find him someone else to marry ASAP.

This was the perfect conclusion to Brighton and Caden’s story.  They have the give and take in their relationship.  He gets mad she kept the baby from him but forgives her because he understands her reasoning but he still had a right to know.  It was frustrating Brighton didn’t quite understand why her plan wasn’t going to work.  Just like some of the things Caden should have let her know what was going on.

This review contains spoilers.

Now that Caden is stepping up and taking over the light court they can’t get closer.  He is expected to marry another Fae.  The problem is he still loves her and wants to keep her and keep her safe.  Brighton is devastated by the news that Caden is betrothed.  She is determined to continue her quest and forget Caden.  Her quest goes a little to well and is kidnapped by the big bad.  Caden will have to do everything to try and find her before he’s too late.

OMG, I loved this story.  It made me so sad and mad and happy.  When I originally read this book there was a whole year until the next book was coming out.  It is now out, and I can finally enjoy all of them.  I loved that Brighton rescues herself ish.  Caden does come and get her out of her cell but she killed that big bad.  I loved how Caden and everyone close to her try to treat her with kids gloves after her rescue.  The book didn’t seem that long, but it is actually just short of 200 pages.  Can’t wait to read the next book.

The Prince by Jennifer Armentrout

The Prince: A Wicked Novella by [Jennifer L. Armentrout]

Brighton Jessier was raised by the order to protect humans from the Fae.  On her way home from work she and her mother are attacked.  She barely survives the attack but loses her mother.  Now she is determined to bring those who murdered her mother to justice even if it means going undercover and killing them herself.  No matter what her friends and Caden say she will have her revenge.

I loved this story, but it was way to short.  I loved Brighton and Caden.  They work and the fact that Caden encouraged her strengths huge bonus.  I can’t wait for the next book.  Even though it was a short story the pacing was spot on.  The plot worked and didn’t feel rushed in anyway.  I really just liked it so much I wanted more.
