Five years ago, Astrid O’Malley experienced the ultimate in public humiliation. Being dumped at the altar by her childhood sweetheart was horrifying enough. That fact that he was a professional hockey goalie and her dad was his coach? It was all anyone in sports could talk about.

Eff hockey. Eff goalies.

These days, Astrid lives a life (mostly) free of hockey and free to pursue whoever she wants with exactly zero shame in her game. Like tonight’s hook-up. This guy’s nailed the lumberjack aesthetic perfectly. Especially when he has the stamina and creativity to back it up.

Because the rule is: it’s one night only. Which is gonna be a problem because she’s just discovered he lives in the apartment upstairs.

And he’s joined her dad’s team. As the goalie coach. To train her ex.

Now Astrid is in some kind of hockey hell–filled with her ex, her family, and the best sex of her life. And somehow she’s been roped back onto the team.

Puck my life.

I loved this book so much and the reason why I continue to read Avery Flynn’s books. Astrid is screwed by her fiancé the day of their wedding and she’s left to pick up the pieces including dealing with the media. She of course ends up falling for another hockey guy even though she’s sworn off all hockey guys. Her dad did irritated me in the book but that was to be expected. Overall, a lot of humor and a good book.

Anger Bang by Avery Flynn

Thea Pope is a paleontologist just trying to get by. She’s expected to go to her sister’s 80s-themed wedding that will be aired on the silver screen. Forced to participate in this whole thing makes Thea anger even more so when she finds out her sister didn’t even want her there. When her sister pushes her too far she decides to pick the one man there the bride can’t stand, the groom’s brother, Kade. It’s petty to sleep with the groom’s brother just to get back at her sister but she doesn't care. What could possibly go wrong?

It was ok straight romance. Lots of humor and low conflict. A very anticlimactic fight between the characters. It wasn’t bad but also not one of my favorites. Good way to spend a couple of hours reading.

Mansplainer by Avery Flynn

The last remaining single Beckett cousin's determined to win the last present from grandma. Nash just has to make it to Christmas without falling in love. When he meets Chelle who is in need of a temporary husband he feels like he's got it in the bay. Chelle needs to marry or lose every thing from her dad's estate. Chelle and Wash plan on a short term marriage but will the be able to stick with their own terms?

This was not one of my favorite Flynn book. The writing was good I just struggled to connect with Nash. I did love what the present was and how everything worked out. I really wanted to see lash have to do the dates like his cousins had to do. Overall, a good addition to the series

His cousin has fallen but Griff knows he won’t. He will set up a profile and do the dates, but he is the silent man who never talks. When he meets up with his sister and her friend for lunch, he KNOWS he’s not going to lose. He wants Kinsey but she’s engaged, and he won’t poach. Kinsey learned long ago working in a male dominated field and being a child prodigy, it was easier to pretend to be engaged to gain some respect and be left alone at work. The issue comes in when she meets someone she’s interested in and doesn’t know how to “kill off” her fiancé so she can be happy with Griff. When she finally extracts herself from the situation it smooth sailing for them until some dirty deeds pop up at her work. Will this be what breaks them apart?

I LOVED Griff and Kinsey. He was dealt a shit hand with his parents, and I get why he tried to do what he did with Kinsey because he was always having to sacrifice what he wants because of his father. I loved that Kinsey saw what he was doing and tried to get him to see reason and when he finally did, she didn’t just go all is forgiven. I really loved these two together. It was an insta love story, but it didn’t feel that way as they take their time getting to know each other. Cannot wait for the last book.

Mama's Boy by Avery Flynn

Dixon Beckett treats women right but never wants to fall in love again after being burned. When his grandma dies and leaves one wrapped Christmas present for one of the older boys, they decide to have a challenge to see who is the last man standing with love. The rules are create a profile on a dating app, go on 6 dates with whomever responds first and whatever you do don’t fall in love. He creates the most obnoxious ad possible assuming no one will respond. What he doesn’t expect is Fiona Hartigan who needs him to help her grandma. She tried the legitimate route and he bailed on every meeting so now she will date him and find the perfect time to slip in her grandma’s cosmetics. Since she is a disaster at dating, she doesn’t see how this could possibly fail.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It is a spinoff of the Harbor City series. Does it help to have read all the books before this one…of course. Do you need to have read all of them? No. It was nice to see some of the other Hartigan’s and makes me want to read all about how they each find their loves. This book gives Fiona her happy ending. There were several hot and heavy scenes that were fun to read but there were just as many serious ones. I really need to know what is in the present.

Back in the Burbs by Tracy Wolff and Avery Flynn

Mallory is having a run of very bad luck. She caught her husband with another woman which led to her losing her job and her home and worst of all her great aunt died. With the death of her aunt she inherits her home and a cranky HOA who wants the house cleaned up yesterday. When she moves in against her parents wishes to get her life on track she finds a daunting task of things to do. These tasks are not helped by the hot but cranky neighbor next door. He pushes all of her buttons. Will she find her backbone and possible love?

The Book was ok. My biggest problem with it was how wishy washy the Mallory was. Every time there was some conflict she would just roll over and take it. When she finally gets a backbone it's for the wrong reasons. There were times I really enjoyed the book and those were what kept me reading. I loved Nick. He was a grouchy man but amazing. The more you learn about him the more you respect him. Even after Mallory was an ass to him, he forgave her with no issue. One of the biggest misses for me was the storyline with the ex-husband. It literally just mentions in passing what happened but in no amount of detail. He was screwing her over and she finally fought him and I wanted the details. Overall, it was just ok. Not the worst book I read this week nor the best. Will I pick up again probably not. There are way better books by Avery Flynn to read.

The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn

Hadley needed a wing-man to go home with her to her sister’s wedding. She needed a buffer from the cut-throat games her family will force her to play. Her wing-man was supposed to be her BFF Web. However, the man off the plane is his evil twin Will. Will has never liked Hadley and is determined to prove Hadley is money hungry woman only out interested in Web because of the zeros in his bank account. Instead he finds a woman who doesn’t match with his views. Will needs to figure out which is the real Hadley before it’s too late.

I really liked this story. It has some of the same characters that are in some other series Avery Flynn has written. The pacing in the story is spot on. There aren’t any lags and it runs pretty smooth from beginning to the end. I enjoyed Will getting his comeuppance at the end. I also loved that you get an epilogue at the end so you see where the characters are going to be in the future. Here’s hoping there will be more books with some of these characters.
