Never Fall for the Bride’s Father by Julia Kent
3 Stars
Power outages. Runaway brides. Collapsed wedding
cakes. Tainted caviar. Handsy grooms. And the always classic: jealous MILs who
wear white. No wedding catastrophe can faze Katie Gallagher, because when you
plan for the worst, you deliver the best.
The best wedding ever.
Her company, Wedding Protectors, Inc., promises
happily ever afters. Guaranteed. Whatever it takes. But always-prepared Katie?
She’s steering clear of her own HEA. Years of dating older, wealthy, alpha
businessmen who treat her like an ornament has left a bad taste in her mouth.
And some bruises on her ego. Love is her job. Not
her destiny. So when she falls for silver fox and self-made millionaire Patrick
Cooper, she breaks a rule so taboo, it doesn’t technically exist: Never fall
for the bride’s father.
Enter Patrick, a widowed art dealer with
salt-and-pepper charm. He can't resist trying to share an Uber with the
captivating, enticingly stubborn blonde. Their encounter? Classic
enemies-to-lovers. Sparks fly, but not the good kind... at first.
Starting off on the wrong foot left a terrible
impression, but when a series of coincidences pushes them together, the more
time they spend with each other, the more the lines blur.
Chance favors the risk-takers, so when he takes a
leap of faith and gets a passionate kiss that rocks his world, Katie opens
closed doors in his heart.
Can he really have a new soulmate — Or is this just
a May-December fling?
I loved how the books started with the conflict
between Katie and Patrick. Patrick was a major dick and stole her uber. He
tries to make it up to her but it’s too little to late for Katie. They
eventually find out who the other is which leads to Patrick really trying to
make it up to her. It was a fine book after this conflict, but I felt it missed
the mark for a really good book. I never felt like there was a big connection
between them as there is such a jump in the timeline. You don’t see them spending
a ton of time together and that led me to feel like it was mostly lust and not
love. The first book could get away with this style as they were a second
chance at love with a past. Katie and Patrick don’t have that and needed more screen
time to get that connection. Still love Julia Kent and will look forward to her
next one.

Glass by Evelyn Flood
4 Stars
Hope is a delicate thing. Like glass. So delicate
that once it shatters, it will never be the same again.
Vilified.
Despised.
Ruined.
Anastasia Cooper is the most hated woman in Sorelle.
To avoid the modern slavery charges leveled against her by her scheming
stepsister, she opts for a quiet life under house arrest to escape the frenzy
of the media.
But she wasn’t banking on them. The Tate brothers.
Feared by all, everyone knows that Christopher,
Silas and Rafael Tate are the real power behind the throne of Sorelle. And
they’ve been looking for Stasi for a very long time.
Determined to make Stasi’s life as difficult as
possible, Kit, Silas and Rafe take every opportunity to remind her how far
she’s fallen. But Stasi has her own plans, and she’s not about to let the men
who stole her heart once before and smashed it into pieces ruin the only thing
she has left.
Hope.
But as truths come to light, the Tate brothers begin
to realize that they might not have the full story.
And they won’t let Stasi slip through their fingers
again.
This would have been 5 stars review except I don’t
think Stasi actually had smexy time with all of her men. I still loved the book
and felt it was a nice balance of bullying and groveling to make up for the
bullying. I loved how it all played out with Stasi and the guys. I can’t wait
for the next book to see what else the author does.

Chaos Tempted by Yve Vale
3 Stars
I finally win my freedom. But will the cost ruin us?
Preventing a realm war isn’t as simple as we had
hoped.
Our enemies are closer to their victory than we
wanted to believe.
The threats against my life have not abated.
In fact, I’m in more danger now that I’ve chosen to
stay with the three elves, and Prince Eldrin has named me the human ambassador
to afford me more protection. But my elevated status has the opposite effect.
In response, Eldrin gathers allies to stop his
father’s intent to ignite a war. We must prevent the chaos from destroying
everything we know.
With my newfound bonds comes a strange magic, and I
foresee that Princess Twyla is destined to betray her father, the mortal king.
Are we strong enough to prevent the disasters we
face?
This book continues where the last book left off.
Movement in the relationship between Wyn and her men. More info is revealed about
the different plots to start a war and it ends on a cliff again. I don’t feel
like there was enough movement in the story and this felt more like a bridge
book and maybe should have been combined with the last one but it was still
good. I’m curious to see where the next book takes us.

His Human Widow by Michelle Mills
3 Stars
I married a dead war hero.
His name was Fire Lieutenant Byric Sandstone—an
extremely wealthy Hyrrokin landowner, with a complicated estate.
Obviously, I’m not really his widow. It’s a
technicality, on paper so I could bypass immigration and perform my duties.
Everyone but the lawyer who forged the signature thinks I’m really Byric’s
chosen bound, but my real job is to care for his elderly grandmother and his
three-headed wulver. I love my cushy life on Tarvos.
One night, the front door to the mansion bursts
open. A disheveled, wild-eyed, and monstrous Lieutenant Sandstone returns home,
having escaped from his prison cell behind enemy lines.
Wait, my husband isn’t dead?
“Who the hell are you?” he rasps.
“Your bound,” I whimper from underneath the sheets.
Oh no. How is this going to work out?
Quick and spicy alien romance. Nothing super special
about this book but it was a fun read. Needed some world building and character
development to flesh out the stories BUT this could be lacking because I
started in book 10 and not 1. It was an insta love situation. The story itself
was interesting and unique. If you like alien romances this probably will work
for you.

Midnight with the Hexed by L. R. Friedman
4 Stars
There’s a new witch on the block.
For Oakley Brooks, Celestial Haven’s newest resident
can only spell one thing: disaster.
With her magic replenished and gift reclaimed, she
shifts her focus to relaunching her business and preparing for the coven’s
highly anticipated Moonlit Masquerade.
But another disappearance threatens to ruin Starry
Night Lane’s stellar reputation, putting pressure on the supernatural
government and its Archons to unearth more answers surrounding the missing
witches in the seemingly safe suburb. With the neighborhood under more scrutiny
than ever, Lynx and Saros get caught in the crossfire, forcing the pair to keep
their relationship with Oakley a secret.
As her past and present collide, she must decide if
she’ll follow her heart’s desire or risk living with an eternity of regret.
We get all the answers and then some. Loved how it
ended and how everything worked out between the Oakley and her men. I loved how
they worked around the curse and got to their HEA. I so want some of the
secondary characters HEA so I will be reading more books by this author.
