Our Secret Song by Emily C Childs

3 Stars

Alexis was in Vegas to get married and attend school. Only one of those is happening as her fiancé ran off with her stepsister. Now she’s in a different state with no where to live. Her brother comes to the rescue and sends his best friend to help her out. Bridger is dealing with his own issues but will do anything for Alexis. Will his problems ruin their budding relationship?

This is very much a blush romance and was a nice pallet cleanse. Alexis is screwed over by her fiancé and needs a helping hand. She wasn’t expecting it to come from her frenemy. I love the journey for her and Bridger to get to that HEA. There were a couple of things that were too pat. Bridger has his name dragged through the mud by an ex. She has her tell all that lays some really heinous charges at his feet. It’s like a week of this being out and then bam she recants and all is well. He deserved more with everything he went through. I very much like seeing those who do wrong make it right and the fiancé and ex do not make it right with either Alexis or Bridger. I guess living their best life is supposed to be good enough.

Vampires of Montana by Susan Copperfield

2 Stars

Daphne Niell is known as the Vampire of Montana. She is sent in to sniff out the terrorists and protect the royals. She’s sent to Spain for vacation but finds she’s been tricked. Now she needs to track down the terrorists and keep everyone in the airport safe. To help with the ruse of her being a tourist she picks a tall handsome man in the ticket line and promises him a ride home if he helps her. He’s intrigued by her and agrees and gets pulled into saving everyone. When they get out will he be able to walk away?

I wanted to like this book. It was more about Will than it was about Edward and Daphne. You start to get to know Ed and Daphne and then bam the airport explodes, and the book becomes about Will and his family. It’s also all about horses and cats. I love a good cat, but I wanted to see the relationship develop and it didn’t. It’s been several weeks since I read the book and all I remember is Daphne wanted all the horses and cats to go home with her. That’s it. I can’t remember anything else in the book and it didn’t really add anything to the rest of the series either. Why do I keep reading her books?

Plaidypus by R.J. Blain

3 Star

Nadine and her brother have a close encounter with a hotspot that transforms them. Nadine becomes a platypus shifter While her brother becomes a Vampire. She has to convince the CDC not to take them in and separate them. The one thing they can all agree on is their hometown is to small, too judgmental, and too quick to kill those who are different. Once a decision is made her path is set and it's not quite what she was expecting.

This is a generous 3 star as the first 60% of the book was good and I enjoyed it but then she does what she always does and gets bogged down with the details. It was an interesting story, and it brought more information to the overall series which was great. We finally get to have more information on vampires which was also awesome. The problem you get to a certain point and the story just stops and it sits in one spot and there are tons of conversations about what the plan is. When it comes to the big confrontation it doesn’t happen on the pages, they just freaking talk about it. WHAT! How do you lead your story to this big confrontation and then not even have it be active part of the story but as a hey this is what happened with them. GRRRRR. It was worth reading just to get somethings explained but if you haven’t invested in the story just skip.
