Flirting with the Frenemy by Pippa Grant

3 Stars

He's a hot single dad. A military man with abs of steel. My brother's best friend. My biggest enemy. And now my fake date to my best friend's wedding. Disasterville, here we come...

Mission: Survive my best friend's wedding, where I must play nice with my ex and his perfect new girlfriend.

Strategy: Bring the hottest fake boyfriend on the planet.

Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. The unicorn of fake boyfriends.

Complication: Wyatt Morgan. My brother's best friend. My sworn enemy. Military man. Sexy as hell single dad. The man I let into my panties for one night of hot hate sex after my ex dumped me.

And the man who just scared off that perfect fake boyfriend.

By pretending to be my real boyfriend.

I can roll with this though. What’s the harm in Flirting with the Frenemy if it helps me get the job done?

Complete my mission and move on.

Or so I thought.

Until Wyatt kisses me again and I start feeling things I shouldn't.

The thing about weddings...nothing ever goes as planned.

I don’t know if it was because the last Pippa Grant book was so good but this was MEH. It felt like things were left out that needed to be in there. Like the accident and the divorce. I also wanted to see more connection between Ellie and Wyatt. It was not one of my favorites.

Big Witch Energy by Molly Harper

4 Stars

If only true love's kiss could break this curse…

Caroline Wilton is dying to get off Starfall Point, but if she leaves, there's a good chance she'll literally die. For centuries, any Wilton who ventured off the island immediately perished in some freak accident. While Caroline has begrudgingly obeyed her family's curse, she's never forgiven all that it has cost her. After all, her high school sweetheart left for college and never came back. Until now.

Although Dr. Ben Hoult returned to take over the med clinic, in his heart, he came back for Caroline. Practical, sensible Ben was too stubborn to believe in her curse. But when his own two teenagers meddle their way into coven business, Ben's eyes are opened to the world of magic. He quickly learns that Caroline and her friends have the power to see ghosts—like the angry woman in eighteen-century garb occupying her family's tavern with a menacing glare—and boy, do they need managing.

As the witches dig through old spell books for insight, they discover the angry tavern ghost as one of the island's most sinister legends—information that could be the key to breaking the Wilton curse and giving Caroline the life she's always wanted with the man she's always loved.

Where book one felt unfinished book 2 felt more well-rounded. I don’t know if it was because book 1 set up everything and so there was less that needed to happen in this one and they could just get into the story. I just really enjoyed the back and forth with Caroline and Ben. Through in his kids and it just was a book that I loved. The audio made it that much easier to enjoy cause the narrators did an amazing job with the characters.

Endless by Devyn Sinclair

4 Stars

What do you do when your sister’s getting married and your ex is the best man?

Being dumped sucks. Being dumped after four years and getting kicked out of the house? That sucks more.

Sadly, I can’t avoid him forever. Not when he’s the best man in my sister’s wedding. But like hell am I facing him alone.

So how can a painfully single Omega get out of this mess? Not a clue, but I’ll tell you what not to do. Ready?

Don’t hire a pack of male escorts to take you to the wedding. If you do, you can’t sleep with them. No matter how incredible they smell or how well they treat you.

Definitely don’t let them take care of you, and don’t let them show you pleasure you’ve never had before.

And you absolutely cannot, under any circumstances, fall in love with them. They’re not yours.

Because when everything is said and done, this is just pretend… right?

I loved this book so much. I loved how protective the guys were over Isolde. The biggest issue I had was the ex didn’t get what was coming to him.

Roommate Mistake by Pippa Grant

4 Stars

An injured rugby star, his pregnant roommate, and one rule they can’t break: Don’t date the owner’s daughter.

It was supposed to be an easy house- and dog-sitting gig while the owner was gone for a month. But when my sportsing landlord comes home unexpectedly, injured and in need of a new arrangement, we end up as accidental roommates instead.

But if Holt Webster, the tall, thick-muscled, square-jawed, broody-eyed rugby player, had told me he played for the Copper Valley Pounders, I would’ve told him that my stepdad bought the team while I was working cruise ships overseas.

And he would’ve noped out of offering me a place to stay because the only thing worse than looking like you’re flirting with the owner’s daughter is looking like you’re hooking up with the owner’s pregnant daughter.

Yes, yes, I’m that woman—the one who accidentally got knocked up, decided to keep the baby, and had to move home because pregnancy and cruise ships aren’t a good match.

And now I’m that woman who doesn’t just look like she’s hooking up with an off-limits player. I actually am hooking up with an off-limits player. But who can blame me? He’s hot. He’s kind. And he’s spending our nights sleeping with his hand on my baby bump.

Claiming us both.

But if my dad finds out, Holt’s gone. And we’ll be…rucked.

I really enjoyed this one. There wasn’t a lot of drama in this one just some personal issues they are both trying to work through. Ziggy’s stepdad just pisses me off through most of this book. He treats her like she is a child and threatens Holt’s livelihood if he doesn’t leave her. The stepdad doesn’t listen to anything Ziggy says and that continues with Ziggy’s mom. She just pushes and pushes no matter what her adult children say or do. I loved all the guys on the team coming together to make sure Ziggy and Holt had the back up they needed.

Witches Get Stuff Done By Molly Harper

3 Stars

Riley Denton-Everett always felt like something was missing in her life—and her numerous odd jobs and short-lived relationships haven’t brought her any closer to finding it. Everything changes when she receives a mysterious message: You’re a Denton. You belong on Starfall Point. Once you’re here, I’ll tell you everything you need to know.

When Riley arrives on the island, she learns her aunt has left her a historic mansion brimming with haunted antiques. Turns out, that’s not the only thing she’s inherited. Riley also hails from a long line of witches whose magic is critical to protecting the living.

Edison Held, the town’s frustratingly hot librarian, is completely unaware of the ghosts in Riley’s ancestral home and is determined to convince her to open it up to the public. Riley starts to wonder if Edison’s knowledge of the island’s history can help her get a handle on her new powers—but can she trust him with her secrets? And can she trust herself with the simmering attraction brewing between them?

I liked this book but felt it didn’t end nicely. Too many loose ends for me to believe Riley and Edison would end up together and get their HEA. The audiobook with Amanda and Teddy did make it an amazing book to listen too and I will continue the series to see where it goes.

Pack Plus Three by Melissa Huxley

4 Stars

He’s the famous hockey player, and I’m the pregnant Omega next door…

My past was filled with mistakes, and knocking on a strange man’s door for a taste of his spicy food to satiate my craving was bound to be another one. The sparks were instant, and the bond I never expected to have grew, leaving me afloat as my due date loomed overhead.

I thought my pregnancy would be the issue that kept us apart, and I’d raise my child alone. I hoped I was wrong, but everything in my world was uncertain.

Adding Jeremy, Devon, and Nate to the mix might not be helpful. Jeremy, with his caring heart, took me in, and Devon filled my new home with laughter. Together, they reminded me of a kindness that I had forgotten.

Nate was the only one who hadn’t accepted me, and although I never intended to come between the three of them, his refusal left him battling against his pack mates’ desires, sending us all into a whirlwind of emotion as they fought amongst themselves.

Because Jeremy might not be the dad, but he wanted to be.

I really enjoyed this book so much and the way the guys were with her was so sweet and cute. I really enjoyed them finding their HEA even if it took time. It was super fast to read and I will definitely be picking up future books. If you don’t like pregnancy in your books skip this book/series.

Give Me Peace by M K Harper

4 Stars

Did you know, roughly twenty-seven percent of child abductions are carried-out by an acquaintance or family friend? Who better to lure you away than someone you know and trust. With every day that passes, the likelihood of being found grows smaller. I never imagined I’d be one of them—my face tacked to a bulletin board at the local grocery store, a statewide search issued on my behalf. Even harder to fathom, was that I’d ever be a part of the lucky few who make it home after enduring years of captivity.

And when I finally do, nothing is the same.

I’m left to pick up the pieces of my shattered life without the one person I need the most. Instead, I have five men who’ve taken me under their wings, helping me heal as best they can. Every day I find a little more of myself, but the past has me in its clutches, refusing to let go. No matter how hard I work to move forward, he’s always there. Lurking in the shadows, eager to pull me back.

But as the saying goes—what’s done in the dark, will come to light.

Everything I thought I knew? It was wrong. There’s more at play than we realize, and while I grapple for a shred of normalcy, someone’s plotting and planning. Again. We’re racing to find answers, pitted against a countdown we’re completely unaware of. As the days tick by, the peace I’ve found with the guys hangs in the balance, threatened by an enemy I can’t seem to shake. I fought hard for my freedom, and I have no intention of standing idly by while it slips through my fingers once again.

I, Saylor Radley, have too much to lose to toss in the towel now.

I will not go quietly, and God help the poor bastard who thought it wise to go against my men. They saved me once, but maybe this time I’ll save myself.

Holy crap this was a hard read because of the content. I loved Saylor as she was a survivor. I loved the men who she chose. They forced her to do therapy and hesitated to start anything. She made all the moves which were awesome. I did question the bad guy. How did he find them because they didn't go anywhere or talk about her. It was a string that wasn't tied. Will read again.

Death's Obsession by Avina St Graves

3 Stars

He’s coming for you.

Death is meant to come on a chariot of broken dreams or in the dark trenches of a storm, not in love letters and gifts.

He did not take my soul when I was meant to die. He did not want it all the other times that I’ve offered it to him on a silver platter. Yet, time and time again, he reminds me that I am his: His night monster, his dark love, his perfect other.

Death was the only thing keeping me alive. He watches me from his corner, taunts me with sweet messages, marks my body with his touch as I sleep.

He took the people that I love away from me. Still, no one believed me when I said that I saw the faceless man on the night of the accident.

No one can escape death.

Me? I’m chasing it.

This was a weird read. You're not sure what is going on through most of the book. It was well written, and it kept me reading until the end. I do feel it needs a book 2 so we can see the relationship grow and change. If you like weird give it a shot.

Mercy by Sara Cate

3 Stars

I don’t want to hurt him—I just want to punish him.

It’s bad enough being the only female owner of the Salacious Players’ Club, but I’m also the only one without a kink, or so I thought.

Imagine my surprise when the kink quiz suggests that I’m not so vanilla after all.

In fact, I’m a lot more like Emerson Grant than I thought.

Just one problem—I have no idea how to be a Domme.

That is, until the app matches me with someone willing to help me learn.

He’s too young for me.

Too stubborn. Too good looking.

And, oh yeah, my friend’s son.

Beau Grant is a brat. I’d hate that about him if I didn’t love punishing him so much.

Underneath all of that attitude is a man who is misunderstood, selfless, and in need of direction.

But if he wants mercy, he has to earn it.

There are a million reasons why I should stay away, but I’m tired of doing what everyone thinks I should do.

I finally know what I want, and I’m ready to take what’s mine.

If you like BDSM books this is a good read. I enjoyed the age gap with her being older. Beau's dad is a massive hypocritical asshole. I did love that Beau fought for Maggie and that he was willing to learn and change. Nice smutty book

Sin Bin by Teagan Hunter

2 Stars

I should stay away.

Emilia Anderson is the team’s social media manager, and there are strict rules about not fraternizing with the staff. It doesn’t matter that we already accidentally broke them—we can’t let it happen again.

Besides, my time in the league is winding down, and this is my last shot at winning the Cup. I need to focus on the game, not some girl I have no business chasing.

She’s ten years younger than me.

She’s the assistant coach’s niece.

And she works for the team.

She’s off-limits…and too hard to resist.

I know better than to play this game...

But it looks like I’m heading to the sin bin.

I hated Emilia in this book. She wasn't willing to see alternatives to stay with Owen. She was ten years younger than him, and it showed in her actions. I don't mind age gaps but this one just made me feel icky, because of how they acted. The writing style was fine so I will probably give her another chance.

Angels in the Dark by Shannon Elliott

2 Stars

My guardian angels are dead set on making me whole again.

When I'm taken by him, the criminal in charge of Mathieson Enterprises, my illusion of safety shatters. He has a Midas touch that is more destructive than it is beautiful. Now, I'm broken beyond repair.

But they’re there to pull me back every time I retreat into myself.

Jay — my best friend — who hasn’t left my side in years.

Griffin — an undercover cop — who loves me before he knows my name.

Sage — a mothering doctor — who stitches me back together.

Cy and Ember — the detached mercenaries — who take me in despite themselves.

To them, my survival is a threat. This is a dangerous game they're playing. Trying to keep me safe is playing with fire.

Sometimes the only way to find your way in the dark is to light a match.

It is an interesting concept just poorly implemented. You have a woman who's been trafficked, abused in the worst ways possible and is finally rescued. Good so far but then she willingly has sex with her rescuer who she doesn't know is a good guy. I just have a hard time believing someone going through what she did would be ok the next day having sex. Beyond that there is way too many POV which makes it hard to follow. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and it doesn't make sense to end where it does. Very disappointed.

Love Me Today by AL Jackson

2 Stars

A jaded single dad. A woman returning to her small-town roots. Neither was prepared for their paths to collide…

I should have known I was in trouble when I backed my old, beat-up truck into the shiny Range Rover.

The driver looked like a gorgeous fallen angel – one who’d been booted right out of paradise for being a giant prick.

Good thing I’ll never have to see him again.

Except when I show up for my new job to teach a little girl how to ride her horse, I find the same icy blue eyes glaring back at me.

Paisley Dae is completely reckless. She’s also the best trainer in this small town. And Evelyn gets the best.

Protecting the little girl is my one focus.

Only the sassy trainer in her cut-offs and cowgirl boots quickly gets under my skin. Distractions are dangerous, but she soon becomes everything I crave.

One reckless night of giving in, and Caleb and I spiral into a web of passion.

But when I begin to unravel the secrets hiding in this place, I find there is more riding on this job than I thought.

Caleb and Evelyn are worth any sacrifice – only Caleb has to decide what he will sacrifice for me…

I was so bored reading this book. I didn't like Caleb at all. he was a dick from beginning to tend. Paisley just came across as a pushover to me. Not liking any of the characters makes for a very long read. Jumping around on the timeline also didn't help. Overall, just a pass for me.

We are Destiny Alisha Williams

4 Stars

I’ve been in love with Ivy Sinclair since as long as I can remember. But she’s only ever seen me as her best friends little brother.

When she came out as an Alpha, she took off to Calling Wood to start her new life and found her pack, leaving me behind to pine after her.

When I came out as an Omega, my heart broke because the only Alpha I could ever want, was unavailable.

I’m 21 now and it’s time for me to go to Calling Wood and I plan on avoiding her as much as possible for my own sanity.

That’s harder said then done when my sister is so involved with both our lives.

To make matters worse, I catch a whiff of Ivy’s scent.

Unable to cope with all the pain my heart and soul feel, dark thoughts cross my mind, things I never thought I’d think about doing.

Just as I think of ending it all, a little blonde pixie of an Omega takes my hand and brings me home. Opening my life up to a whole new world of possibilities.

Will I get everything I ever hoped for? Or is it all just to good to be true?

I loved this one because of Spencer. He knew Ivy was his forever and she never saw it and created her own family. He struggles with what he wants his life to be versus what it is. His alphas suck major. I was so angry that all was forgiven without any real apology or begging. they knew about him and did nothing until Spencer nearly dies than it's all you're mine. Earn him. That's why I knocked it down a star. Loved the writing and will read more by her.
