Unbreak Me by Reese Rivers

3 Stars

On the run, living in their car as winter sets in, Avery will do whatever it takes to hide from a monster and keep her daughter safe. One good deed on a snowy night, changes everything.

3 former military men and 1 German Shepherd with their own damage, take the mother and daughter in. They fall hard for Avery and Chloe and will burn the world down to keep them safe.

Easton – carries the guilt of failure at losing half his unit in their last engagement. He sees too many parallels to his own childhood trauma with Avery and Chloe. His honor demands that he care and protect them. He fights his attraction to Avery with an iron will.

Zack – The charming playboy had his self-esteem gutted by the scars his body carries and the loss of his leg. One tiny girl has him changing his prospective on his injuries. Avery sees the man not the injury and the hole inside him slowly begins to fill with a love he never thought he’d have a chance at again.

Ryker – His sheer size and bulk intimidate and keep a safe distance between him and others. A man of few words, his main forms of communication are long drawn out growls and grunts. The tiny wisp of a girl cracks all his armor with her sweetness and her mother feels like a missing piece of his soul when she’s in his arms. When he finds the man who hurt them, he will annihilate him in the most painful way possible.

Kanga (dog) – The lady makes his pack happy and her female pup reminds him that there’s fun to be had, dimming the memories of bullets and bombs that took him and his pack out of the fight.

I have so many questions about this one. I enjoyed most of it but struggled with how Avery’s ex found them/followed the guys back to their house and got to her. Beyond that I liked all the guys, and they were super sweet with Avery and her daughter. They definitely fell first and wanted to take care of them both. If you want heavy emotions this hits the mark.

Falls Like Rain by Reese Rivers

3.5 Stars

When she left, they fell apart. Now she's back and it's her turn to Fall.

I married my three best friends when I was ten, ran from them and everything I knew at eighteen to save one of them and now I’m back at twenty-eight with no idea of who I am as a woman or what I want my future to look like. All I really know is, if I’m going to Fall, it’s going to be for ME

She was our everything, our future, but she ran away, broke us and left us in pieces for ten long years. Now she’s back and no matter how hard she tries to keep her distance and her secrets from us, we’ll do whatever it takes to find out the truth and then make her fall just as hard as we did.

This was such a good premise and I wanted to love it but the guys were fucking stupid. Rain leaves when she and the guy’s are threatened. She does it for them but they never question why she left, just judged her. When she comes back after her dad dies and the guys are dicks to her until they find out the truth. She makes her life better and chooses herself over everyone else. Which she’s never done before. The guys do end up groveling a bit and it was good. I just wanted a bit more.

Burn Butterfly Burn by Reese Rivers

3 Stars

What's a Butterfly to do when she gets too close to the flames?

Fly, fly away and start her own damn fire, that's what.

Savy got burnt when she gave those careless boys her heart. She flew from her cage and built a new one made from fire so no one can hurt her again. She's writing her own story now and they won't be a part of it, her book is closed to them.

Her men will do anything to get her back but when fire meets fire it causes an inferno that might turn them all to ash.

Starts right where one ended with the FMC away from the guys. They are sending her messages that she’s ignoring. It starts off 4 years later where she’s cut herself off from just about everyone and just working. She doesn’t want to get hurt again so refuses all advances from the guys. They don’t really do anything to win her back perse. They just keep putting themselves in her path until she caves. It was just an ok ending to the overall story.

Dance Butterfly Dance by Reese Rivers

3 Stars

Savy St. James is a sad lonely girl with too many secrets to count. She hides away in her oversized frumpy clothes and thick glasses wishing she was brave enough to be seen without her mask.

One small favor backfires and forces her into a fake date deal by the school’s hot shot quarterback. Him and his three best friends treat her like a pet to play with and are careless with her until she’s had enough and breaks the deal. But when her secrets are revealed and her masks are stripped away, they will all burn for it.

Tate Valor thinks this nerdy girl is the perfect choice to use as his shield keeping all the groupies and gold diggers off his back. Savy’s a built in tutor to help him drag his marks back up so he doesn’t get benched. He never expected the make out show he forces her to put on in public to affect him more than it does her.

Jude Dixon is the wild child, f**k boy of the team. His crazy antics that match his white blond hair, multiple piercings and slightly psycho personality couldn’t be any different from the shy little doll Tate’s brought into his orbit. He’s the first to see the treasure that she is and stakes his claim when he falls hard and fast for her even when she doesn’t want to be claimed.

Beckett James had his shot at going pro blown right along with his knee. With football no longer a choice, he’s lost and depressed. Savy’s sweet heart and peach smelling hair has more than his interest stirring. He wants to peel back the masks she hides under and see the real her.

Asher James doesn’t give a sh*t about the bookworm his friends are obsessing over. He only has one obsession, the Butterfly that dances in the cage for him. It doesn’t matter that she’s never spoken to him in two years. He wants her and only her…until Savy starts getting under his skin and he sees that maybe he’s been the one in the cage all along.

Pretty solid read. I loved Savy and how she tells the guys off repeatedly. She is incredibly strong even though she’s wealthy she doesn’t act like it. The guys each have vastly different personalities. Some of them are more interesting then other ones. The telling off continues throughout the book and she ends up walking away from them. Which was the end of this story to be continued into book 2.
