I Married a Lizardman by Regine Abel

2.5 Stars

Susan is the third daughter on a farming colony and knows she has no prospects on her planet so she turns to Prime Mating Agency to find somewhere to go where she can take her farming skills too. They match her with Olix. His planet is known for hunting. They don’t believe in farming and find Susan weird and disconcerting when she starts farming. All of these differences lead Olix to believe the agency was mistaken in matching them. Can they find some common ground and get their happily ever after?

This was fine. I liked the first one better than this one. There were aspects of the book that just frustrated me. If Susan and Olix had just talked about things there might not have been so much conflict. I get it that’s the point of the book but it was frustrating me.

A Good Demon is Hard to Find by Kate Moseman

2.5 Star

After divorcing her cheating ex-husband Erin accidentally curses him and a demon showed up. Great Earl of Hell Andromalius specialized in wickedness and revenge. He wants to help Erin get her revenge and he makes a mean coffee. When her ex announces his wedding plans she needs more. What will Andromalius come up with for her?

I wanted to like this more than I did.  It had humor and it had some cute moments but I felt it was lacking romance. There isn't enough time for these two to actually fall in love. There wasn't even any revenge against the ex. Just fell flat for me and then ended on a cliff. Skipping the rest.

Knocked up by the Mountain Man by K.C. Crowne

2.5 Star

Josie and Cyrus are competing for customers. When an employee of Cyrus takes the competition to for Josie and Cyrus are forced to sit down and talk. They are drawn together until Josie's past comes calling. Will he be able to keep her safe?

If this had just been about a single mom getting her groove on the story would have been so much better. Instead, we throw in a psycho ex who is trying to take the kid and mom back no matter what Josie wants. We get a fake marriage to a former security person who does nothing to keep her safe. It angered me and I an skipping the rest of the series.

Queenie and the Krakens by Aleera Anaya Ceres

2.5 Star

Naomi Queen refuses to have anything to do with criminals. She was raised in that world and doesn't want to go back. When she witnesses a murder she is dragged back in. Now she needs protection from the Rogue Waves. Their rivals the Kraken Motorcycle club will help her but at what cost?

The rating is being generous. It was an interesting concept but the characters and world needed work. Not to mention the look just ended and it left me wanting. It needed an epilogue or another chapter to flesh out the conclusion of the story. The fact that I read this one and finished it and I HATE MC stories says there were good things with this story but when you take a strong FMC for 85% then in the last 15% you have her guys sexually torturing her to get her to agree to be their lady. It didn't get with who any of the characters had been up to this point. At the beginning of the book a similar scene happened and Queenie HATED it and was humiliated by it and the guys thought it was a good idea to try it again? She walks but comes back and apologizes. That's What ticked me off and knocked down the rating.

One to Watch by Macy Butler

2.5 Star

Sally is just a regular staid librarian until she walks in on an intimate encounter in the stacks. When she goes home her husband in for a radical shift in his wife.

This was a quick read

This was a quick read with not much to it. It felt like straight erotica not a romance. It is a short story that leads into 2 full length books so maybe it will get better.

Ramliel by A.M. Griffin

2.5 Star

When the Yatur came to earth they promised to bring medical and scientific advancement in exchange Earth had to send women. These women would be married off to men other planets that had low women birthrate. Mia was selected to go to a distant planet and marry someone she didn’t know. She had no choice in the matter. Her chosen mate was Ramliel Takeria. He knew she was going to be his mate from a small age, but he didn’t want her. When they are supposed to meet for the first time, he’s a no show. Will they find a way to be happy?

I struggled with this one. I really didn’t like Ramliel. He was a complete ass through most of the book until he saw what Mia looked like. Then he was all in with the marriage. He had a mistress the entire time they were married which is a huge no for me. The other big HELL no was the almost instantaneous forgiveness Mia gives to Ram after he left her for his mistress. I will say the mistress claimed to be pregnant with his child and he wanted to be in the child’s life, but he literally takes her word for it. This woman was going to be thrown out her very nice digs because Ram was done with her but yeah, she’s totally pregnant with your baby. Then he’s shocked Mia isn’t happy to except him back into her heart and home. Mia does end up forgiving him very quickly like days later all because he sent her diary entries saying he’s so sorry. Ancients by Kathryn Moon

2 / 2.5 stars

The Ancients have been released and the Joanna and her coven need to contain them, so they don’t take over the world. It will take time and energy to protect them all and keep everyone safe. Will they discover the way to contain the ancients in time?

I am still very confused by the end of this book. The story wasn’t wrapped up nicely leaving me questions and I have no idea if she will write another book in the series. Overall, I enjoyed the series just feel unfulfilled.

Scrivens by Kathryn Moon

2.5 / 3 stars

The coven is back from Vermenia but it has opened up a new problem of people running away from their government trying to hide. The university is not happy with the changes that are happening, and they may be right about not accepting them. With all that Joanna doesn’t care what they want as long as those she loves are safe and happy. When things boil over will she be able to keep everyone safe and happy?

This picked up where the last book ended and has more personal issues between the coven which was nice to see as there are growing pains. Sometimes I was confused about what was going on and things weren’t clear. Still good but very much a cliff hanger ending.

Omega’s Wolves by Leigh Kelsey

2.5 stars

Nix knew her family didn’t want her, but she never thought they would try and sacrifice her to the gods, but they did. When it didn’t work, and she survived she ends up on the run from her pack. She ends up with the broken alphas. Most of them want to mate her and claim her as theirs except one. When he rejects her all of her new powers can’t protect her from the pain of the loss of the connection. Will she survive the rejection and her family?

I wanted to give this a higher rating. It should have been better. I liked the world building and the characters. Each of Nix’s mates are different and bring something to the relationship. Two things that bother me – one how do all these people keep finding them? It is never explained how, and she ran long and far so how did they find her so quickly. Two – cliff hanger ending, and the next book doesn’t come out until mid-year, so you don’t complete the story and make me wait forever for the conclusion. I’ll try to remember to look this up in a couple months but if not… meh.

Protecting New York by Lainey Reese

2.5 Star

Cheyenne and Dude are in New York for a holiday when their past comes back to kick them. Will a group of Doms and their subs help them save the day.

I wanted to like this more, but Susan Stoker’s books don’t include hardcore BDSM. This included Susan Stoker’s characters Shy and Dude It was not what I was expecting when I read this one as the original story wasn’t this descriptive. I am also surprisingly really tired of people blaming Shy for the action of the bombers. Overall, this didn’t add anything to the original story and it won’t matter if you skip it.

Devilish Deal by Jenna Wolfhart

2.5 stars

Mia is couch surfing on her best friend’s couch looking for a job but being infamous makes it impossible for her to find something. When she interviews to be a dancer at a mysterious club run by Asmodeus. She lies to get the job, and this opens her up to mystery new world. Will she survive this new world?

I enjoyed this take on Hell trying to take over. I liked the world building and the build up to the end. The one thing I get really tired of was why Mia was infamous. It took forever to find out. That and the cliffhanger ending.

Lord of Life by Charlene Hartnady

2.5 Star

Lyre relies on his gift to heal others but now that it’s gone, he’s unsure what he will do particularly since two of his sisters-in-law are pregnant. When he finds out someone is following him, he’s determined to figure out who she is and what she wants. Morgan knows all about the different creatures. When she’s betrayed by someone, she thought she could trust she will track down anyone who could help locate her. She finds Lyre who’s a victim too. Will they team up and take out a mutual enemy?

This author seems to have a plan on how her books will go and she will follow that. This may work when your books come out months/years later but doesn’t work if someone is binging your books. If they are reading each book back-to-back you will see the same trends. In addition to this issue, we also have two main characters who were cocky and it was hard to like them. Overall, we still don’t have any world building and interest in the series is waning.

Love on the Lake by Helena Hunting

2.5 Star

Teagan has always done whatever she can to make her father happy. Now that one brother is in prison and the family had to downsize. Now she’s trying to find herself. When her dad drops on her that his girlfriend is moving in, she decides to visit her brother to have some time to think and decide what she wants out of her life. When she arrives at Pearl Lake she walks in on Aaron working on her apartment. She’s not sure about him and his reputation. The more time they spend together the more they want each other. When secrets are revealed will they be able to weather the storm?

If this book had stayed with the first half of the book it would have been a solid 4. It was a very cute book that made a drastic turn at the halfway mark and did a 180 and went very dark and was completely out of left field. The characters personality changed and made them both very unlikeable and I struggled with finishing the book.  Teagan ends up being “addicted” to her meds but the way that it was handled was wrong and I struggled with liking Aaron. Overall, not one of Helena Hunting’s better book and I will probably skip it in the future.

2.5/3 Star

Maxus is on Earth to find his mate. To stay busy he enters an underground fight club. He's trying to pass as human and keep people from finding out about his modifications. With his latest fight he finds his mate Vivian, She's his everything but he doesn't know how to tell her what he is. When the Nexus find him will he be able to protect her?

I wanted to love this book but there a couple of big issues I have. One being Maxus is an Atlan who’s supposed to be massive. People have seen Atlans before and they don't realize he is one. It was also insta love and that bothered me as there was no real connection between Vivian and Maxus which led the ending to be rushed. Overall, not my favorite book.

When she's had enough, she plans to embarrass him any way she can. She decides to have an

orc baby. She agrees with the orcs deal and sets her plan in motion. What happens when she falls for her orc, and she doesn't want to leave?

This is just like book 1 and 2. They know who she is and why she's there and are using her for their own end. I did like the ending and how Ella's husband got what was coming to him. I'll try the next but if

it's like this one I am going to pass

2.5/3 Star

Weird things are happening at Normalton University and Dani gets dragged into investigating as her business is being hurt by the weird. Will she be able to figure out what is the cause of all the problems?

This was the same as the last one. It was slow and all over the place. Plus, overly detailed on the cooking information. We see a little movement with Dani and Spenser’s relationship but not much. Overall, Meh.

Runaway by Susan Copperfield / R.J. Blain

2.5/3 ish

With the heir of California abdicating to marry his lady love and move to New York to be King there Cassandra is living a nightmare. She is one of Prince Thomas' only remaining employees and she has too much work to even think. She has a memorial service and a coronation service to plan. Once these two things are done will her life settle down into her new normal or will her life get even more interesting?

I wanted to like this book more. It pulled me in and I didn't want to stop reading but about halfway through the book, it just fizzled for me.

HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE MAIN PLOT OF THE BOOK IS DON'T CONTINUE READING.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Once again we have Cassandra's parents being the bad guys. In almost everyone of Copperfield's books they start with the parents seeming to be good parents and then wham bad guy. Cassandra was kidnapped as an infant and was raised to be a spy and eventually help overthrow the royal family. It seems like in most of Copperfield's books she really hates parents. What surprised me about this is Cassandra is never made to confront her parents. Not to mention when the royal family confronts those responsible for all of the mayhem we are literally watching it on TV not actually experiencing it. Then the book ends and there is no closure at all. It just kind of a let down. I also realized once I was done with the story it was a lot of making plans and not actually following through with them and lots of shopping. Overall, it was okay and there was a good idea within the story it just was missing too much.

Wicked Captor by Zoey Draven

2.5 Star

Cara calls wasn’t planning on getting kidnapped and held for so long.  All she wanted was to go home.  Devix is on his last job before he has his freedom.  All he has to do is pick Cara up and take her to her knew master.  The problem she’s, his mate.  Will he be able to walk away from her or will he decide to keep her?

Since I didn’t like the other series but liked the writing, I wanted to give the author another chance.  I liked this one more than I liked the other one, but I still had some of the same problems.  Like Devix had no problem handing a woman over to be a pleasure slave when his race allegedly protects females.  Overall, it was better than the other one and I like Devix more than Vaxa’an.  It does kind of end in such a way you will want to read the next book.

Jovi has the urge to move.  She randomly picks the town of Marshall Heights to settle into.  What she wasn’t expecting was to find Torsten Black. He keeps telling her she can’t be there and that’s it’s too dangerous but won’t explain why.  He wants her but wants her to be safe.  Will they find a way?

I was really digging this story until it was getting close to the end and there was no way the story was going to wrap up anytime soon.  It ends on a freaking cliff hanger.  If I had known before, I started I wouldn’t have started the story until they were all out.  It was an interesting concept, and I enjoyed the parts of the story that were there but not so much the cliffhanger ending.

Broken by the Horde King by Zoey Draven

2.5 Stars

Nine years ago, the prince of my clan broke my heart.  Now he’s back and he wants my help.  Kiran of Rath Okkili is in need of a healer and Maeve fits the bill.  She was determined to never love him again, but will he be able to win her over.

Where I liked all of the other books in this series there were certain aspects of this book that I couldn’t get passed.  One of them being he knew how she felt about him for 9 years and knew they were supposed to be together, but he continued to sleep with other woman for 8 of the 9 years.  We are supposed to give him a pass for making out with HER SISTER because it was a youthful act and not serious. He never really did anything to redeem himself in my eyes to justify her forgiving him and being with him.  The other issue was Maeve was a doormat throughout the book and it got old fast.  She never really grew as a character.  I did love getting more background information as well as more on the planet.  The style and writing fit within the series.  I just found myself skimming this book way more then I should have.
