Midnight of Ashes by Tessa Hale

4 Stars

One moment changed everything. A split-second decision to try to save one of my five dragon mates nearly cost my life. And now nothing is the same.

Knox, Cáel, and Cillian treat me like I’ll break at any moment, while Maddox keeps a careful distance. And Easton won’t look at me at all.

We’re supposed to be fated by the stars, but we’re falling apart. Enemies still lurk around every corner, but the guys vow we’ll be ready when they come.

But evil has a way of striking when you least expect it. And none of us are ready for who might be pulling the strings…

Starts right where the first one ended. Some secrets are revealed, and more are introduced. The building of relationships was nice and I loved the connection between mates. The give and take was also nice to read. It does end on another cliffhanger. Not a bad thing but something I’ve noticed with all of Tessa Hale’s books is the FMC is always in danger at the end of the book until the final book. It’s not bad but it is something I’ve noticed she does.

Twilight of Ember by Tessa Hale

4 Stars

I’d always wondered what it would be like to have a family. I just never expected to find it with five mysterious strangers who have more secrets than I could ever imagine.

Getting a scholarship to Evergreen University and majoring in premed means I need to keep my head down and focus on my studies. But campus is full of distractions…

The football god with his golden retriever charm. The tortured one with his vicious tongue. The broken boy with his determined protectiveness. The merciless billionaire with a penchant for spoiling me. And the genius professor with his brilliant mind.

They make me feel like I belong for the first time since my parents were murdered. And when they touch me, my whole world sparks to flame.

But they have enemies. Those who would give anything to harm what they hold dear. And while they’ll do whatever it takes to keep me safe, sometimes falling in love will put you right in the line of fire…

I really enjoyed this book and immediately started the second book. I liked the Hayden was unaware of what she was and who her mates were. It flowed nicely but does end on a cliffhanger ending but this is pretty standard for Tessa Hale.

Destiny of Ashes by Tessa Hale

3 Stars

Kidnapped and attacked just trying to learn her magic and her mates before the next assault. Will they be able to keep everyone safe and take out all their enemies?

Where the first two were really good this one fell a little flat. Instead of flowing through a story it felt like there were boxes that needed to be ticked off to complete the story. In addition, it was more explaining what was happening vs living the scenes. Here’s a scene to explain x y and z to conclude the story. Overall, a bit of a disappointment for the conclusion of the story.

Anchor of Secrets by Tessa Hale

4 Stars

After being kidnapped Lee is struggling to find her balance know she probably has magic she just needs to find a way to pull her magic out while navigating the politics of the magical world. Secrets are revealed with each of her mates but will they survive all the upheaval?

CLIFF HANGER ENDING

Many secrets are revealed in this book which was so good because the last book just had more secrets than answers. This built from book 1 and you do have to read it to understand this one. I liked all the twist and turns this book takes. The guys are less dickish in this book but Lee is still a runner. Hale does like to end her books the same way. Once again Lee has been kidnapped. Worth reading but wait for book 3 to be out.

Legacy of Shadows by Tessa Hale

4 Stars

Leighton has not had an easy life and she just wants to hit 18 and get away from her mother. Before she can she’s rescued by her childhood friend she thought to never see again. What she wasn’t expecting was the knowledge that the world is full of magic and she is his fated mate but never came into her magic so they couldn’t be together. Will they find a way to make it work along with her other fated mates?

WARNING CLIFFHANGER ENDING

I enjoyed this book. There are times Lee Frustrated me. She would get upset with something the guys did and would run. Which would then put her in danger. She had every right to be mad as her mates were dicks. They opted out of a relationship with her so many times. They kept so many secrets that put her in more danger. The guys couldn’t get why she was angry and kept running. So many eye rolls with that. Overall, I enjoyed all the drama and the academy aspect of the book. Interested in seeing out this all plays out.

Mark of Stars by Tessa Hale

2 Star

Everything has changed for Rowan. She's found out she’s adopted and is a shifter. She has 5 mates to take care of her since her parents have walked away. 3 of her 5 mates are all in with taking care of her Anson, Lucas, and Keene will do anything for her. Holden is keeping things from her, and Vaughn helps and hurts her all the time. They will need to come together to keep everyone safe.

The relationships are all surface no substance. The plot also repeats a lot. Rowan gets hurt, the guys come to her rescue, and she wallows in her teen angst. There are also a lot of too stupid to live moments. Rowan's in danger because of who her bio dad is but bio mom refuses to tell her anything. Her gifts are special, so Mason (Alpha) tells the entire pack. Also ends on a cliffhanger. Skip this series.

Spark of Fate by Tessa Hale

2 Star

Six months ago, Rowan's life imploded. She lost her sister and then was forced to move across the country. Her dad works out of town and barely comes home, and her mom hates her. She just wants to blend in at school and get it done so she can get out. Her knew classmates see her and realize how special she is, and they take it on to get her happy and healthy. The guys want her to come into her powers. Will those who want to keep them apart win?

This would have been a pretty good story if the characters were a tad older. The majority of them

were under 18 and I found the sex scenes of 17 year olds skeavy. Beyond this big issue there is a

major pacing issue and lack of world building. The beginning of the book is slow and then the end

is so fast paced. Then it ends on a cliffhanger. This is one I would skip it.
