Last Chance Mates by Leona Page

3.5 Stars

It’s former RedMoon alphason, Trey Wilkinson’s, last chance. Last chance to redeem himself. Last chance to carve out a good life for his widowed mother and orphaned son. Last chance to feel any smidge of happiness. Long, slender legs, wide sky-blue eyes, too clever for his sanity, and such a mouth on her; his last chance.

Rory’s on her last chance. Prison was a mixed bag, but now she’s out. Back with the remnants of her pack, Rory just needs to find her footing, but the betrayals of her past haven’t been resolved, and she has more secrets than Trey Wilkinson’s investigative gamma unit.

Attraction may be explosive, but so is the past. No matter how much Trey and Rory want each other, the fact remains: Rory killed Trey’s little brother. How can he possibly forgive her for that?

It was a good read. I loved the struggle Rory went through to end up with Trey. There is some content warnings should pay attention to before reading this book but I enjoyed the darkness this author writes. There are some writing errors that need to be addressed but still a good read.

Best New Authors of 2022

In no particular order here are just some of the new authors this year who made me crave more stories by them and to blow through their back catalog. They left me wanting more and no two are alike. There are some dark romances, academy, omegaverse, and just a mix of books here. I truly do fall for books for different reasons.

1. Kathryn Moon – I blew through everything she wrote and want more.

2. Yve Vale – She writes different kinds of stories that include space aliens and academy. This variety just worked for me this year and I read everything she had out and wanted more.

3. Lola Rocks – This is one of my all time favorites this year and I think made every list but the worst. The books just hit my feels just right and it makes me want to go back and reread/relisten to them.

4. Leona Page – Very dark books and hit the right notes with me

5. Merri Bright – This is another author where I found her back catalog and blew through everything that was available

6. Kate Messick – Reviews coming in 2023 Let’s just say her books are amazing and her character development is spot on.

7. Brenda Rothert – So many good hockey books/players

8. Kimberly Lemming – So much humor and weirdness

9. Anna Carven – So many good space aliens

10. Flora Quincy – Reviews coming in 2023 the books were good mix of Alphaholes and some really strong FMC

Blue Love by Leona Page

2 Star

Heather knows she’s not good enough for Reid. She was raised by the town whore, and he was wealthy golden boy of the town. It was barely tolerated for her to be friends with Reid’s younger brother. She spends her time taking care of her little brother Will. She tries to do whatever she can to give him a good life even if it means walking away from him. When she finds out he was being abused she takes him and runs. Reid has tried to stay away from her for years thinking she had something going on with his brother until he finds that to be a lie. Then she runs. He will chase after her until he can have her. Will they find a way to have a happy ending?

Holy crap this book was all over the place. It had so many issues with the timeline and not being clear on when it was. It made it hard to follow the story. Not to mention it jumps ahead several times and it led to a major disconnect in feeling the relationship made sense. On the relationship Reid literally spends most of the time “dating” someone else which leads to Heather staying away thinking he was happy. It was incredibly frustrating. Definitely not worth the time it took to read.

Untamed by Leona Page

2 Star

Innuit was raised to be the alpha of a pack. When his pack is destroyed, and he’s taken in by another he wants nothing to do with being an alpha. After an upheaval in the pack leads to them needing an alpha son heir, he’s selected. He’s spends years learning how to run the pack waiting for his chosen mate. Willa was kept in the middle of no where with her mom and father. She dealt with abuse and training and when her parents are killed, she has to venture out. She’s different and Innuit’s pack is scared of her, but he wants her. Will they figure out who is out for the pack and be able to save everyone they care about?

I had been looking forward to this book forever since Inuit was introduced in the first book. I loved him in that book, but this book didn’t work for me. The first issue was the book was way to freaking long. To many details that were unnecessary for the story and not enough other information to help round out the story. I liked Inuit and Willa together and I liked how the story worked out. They really just needed to cut out some of the filler in the story.

Carmichael’s Omega by Leona Page

2 Star

Carmichael is the alpha son of a broken pack. He hates omegas as they are just manipulative people and he wants nothing to do with them until he meets his fated mates, twins Cassie and Mattie. Cassie and Mattie went to separate universities. Cassie wanting to get away from drama at her school visits her brother at his school. Mattie is dealing with an alpha at his school who doesn’t adhere to his no and forces him into doing things he doesn’t want but he won’t tell his sister or the pack that loves him. It continues until Carmichael intervenes and puts a stop to it. Even though he wants nothing to do with omegas he can’t walk away from his mates. Will they find a way to live together?

This one I had some issues with. There is borderline inappropriate relations between the biological twins in this one. Like at one point Carmichael has them face to face during a sex act. It just skeeved me out. They didn’t do anything, but parts were close enough together to give me an ick factor. I ended up skipping literally every sex scene as they were all this icky to me. If this works for you the writing was just as good as the other books and the overall story was very good.

Teague’s Breeder by Leona Page

3 Star

Mina is poor and has been left to raise her younger siblings as her mother is to drugged up to deal with anything. Her fated mate Blu, believes the rumors about her and thinks she’s a whore which leads him to refuse her. Teague is the right hand of the Alpha Alexander, and he craves Mina. He tries to take care of her the best he can. Alexander needs Teague to not go rogue, so he institutes the Breeder Program to kill two birds with one stone. Mina is given a choice to be bred by Teague and be given the help she needs or to continue to struggle. When she chooses to be with him this throws Blu as he didn’t realize how hard it would be to see Mina with another. Will they be able to find a balance?

If you are interested in a MMF with some dubious consent this one, will it the mark. I loved Teague and Mina. Blu earns his way into the relationship with both Teague and Mina. It just really worked on the super drama filled book with some MM, MF, and MFM. I can’t even explain why I enjoyed this book as much as I did but I did. Definitely worth giving it a shot.

Unforgivable by Leona Page

3 Star

Trigger Warning

Lyri has been rejected by her true mate. She was meant to be his Luna to his Alpha instead her mate's father declares her nulla venia. He also sets down the most severe punishment to set an example. She's starved and tied to a tree on the night of a full moon. Because she is the Luna other wolves are drawn to her and since she can't defend herself the worst happens. She would have died from the assault if not for Rhet, Ezra, and Thjis while nursing her back to health they fall for her and want her to be their mate will they win her over?

There were some hard parts to this story. There were also some very well written parts I wanted to beat the Alpha and his family so much. I loved seeing people stand up for Lyri for the wrongs against her. By the end of the book I felt the alpha family hadn't been punished enough for their actions but I did like how I everything, played out. Overall, I enjoyed the story and will read other books.
