Icebreaker by Elise Faber and Kat Mizera

4 Stars

She hates me…

I’m going to make her fall in love with me anyway.

As captain of the SoCal Vipers, the last couple of seasons haven’t been going well. My stats are slipping, and I’m at risk of being traded.

So, I’m not in the mood for a case of mistaken identity with the woman playing bouncer at the arena door.

But when I find out she’s come to town to escape her controlling family and make a fresh start, I know I can’t just let her walk away.

I’ll do anything to make sure she’s safe.

And if that means claiming her forever…then all the better.

Because she’s mine.

Even if she doesn’t know it yet.

Two of my favorite hockey romance writers wrote an amazing story. Loved Aspen and Banks. Seeing Aspen grinding to succeed and prove her family wrong made for a lovely read. Banks needed to grovel a little bit more after his mess up but I still love him. Would love to see the rest of the friend group and the little sister get a story.

Hit ‘em Hard by Kat Mizera

4 Stars

Hit 'em Hard is Book 3 in the Bang Brothers hockey series.

The Phantoms are back with a vengeance… and the City of Angels will never be the same.

JENSEN:

Chasing my pro hockey dreams in the City of Angels has been a relentless battle. Each season feels like starting over, and being miles away from my family only adds to the struggle. I don’t know what I would do without my online gaming friends. Especially @Empress.

I know nothing about her—not even her real name—but what I do know with certainty is that our chats are my lifeline. I wish she would let me in, but she guards her secrets even more closely than I do.

A chance encounter puts us in the same room together, and the attraction IRL is next level. But before I can make my play, she disappears. I'm desperate to find her again and my meddling, matchmaking mother shows up just in time to help. Can I convince her that I'll be there no matter what she's hiding? Or will we both get hit hard in this real-life game of love?

I loved so many people in this book. Jensen was such a sweetheart and was so sweet with Bailey and her fears. I loved that they slowly built their relationship from friends and gaming buddies to so much more. Mama Bang is amazing and love how she’s trying to help her boys. Sometimes with world sharing they don’t work so well but so far this series is amazing and I’ve loved all of them. Definitely can’t wait to see the rest of the brothers fall.

Hard Luck By Brenda Rathert and Kat Mizera

4 stars

Lucy is going to get her brother on his feet and get away from her ex. Her brother is supposed to pick her up from the bus station but instead sends his teammate Konstantin to pick her up. He doesn't want to use his day off to pick some woman up but is willing to help out his teammate. When he sees her he's drawn in. He knows she's dealing with somethings but wants to get to know her better. She is also going to need help with her brother, Sawyer. Sawyer is in deep depression since the loss of his wife and Lucy needs to get him out of his house and back to work. The more time Kon and Lucy spend together the more they are drawn together. When trouble comes will they be able to weather the storm?

I loved Lucy and Kon's story. They started as friends and it slowly progressed to more. I loved seeing the progression. Watching Sawyer deal with the loss of his wife and how Lucy was trying to help was heartbreaking. I thought the issues Lucy was going through with her ex was dragged out a bit too long for me but I did like how it worked out. I've read other books by Brenda Rothert and have loved other books by her. This series I haven't gotten to yet and started with book 4 which is not normally what I do but you can definitely read without the other ones (though I am going to now go back and read them all). It was a really good read and I can't wait to read the other books.
