Pliar by Jane Washington

3 Stars

Ironside is more than a regular academy. It’s also the biggest reality TV show in the world … and a very elaborate, very luxurious prison.

Their hallowed halls are ruled by the Betas, Omegas, and Deltas—but this year, the officials are stirring things up.

Isobel Carter—the only rare Sigma to be accepted—is the first sign. But there are others. Many others. A sudden influx of powerful Alphas will turn academy life, and Isobel’s life, upside down.

She might be the lowest rung on the ladder, but in order to survive Ironside, where social media is king and consequences are deadly, she will need to make her mark.

She will need to climb.

This is a different omegaverse story. They throw in a delta designation which our Isobel is. It’s supposedly the lowest of the low. There are so many hints that lead to me thinking this is going to be the wrong assumption. I also don’t trust some of the people who she thinks are her friend. It’s also an academy book but it’s referenced as a TV show which isn’t really talked about much. I like some of the character development but wanted more. Overall, I’m curious about it enough to read the next book.

Neutral by Jaymin Eve

2 Star

Emmy was born a dweller and when a God kills her, her best friend brings her back as a Goddess.  She needs to find out what her gifts will be.  Cyrus is neutral to all issues and he’s the only one who can tell her what her gifts are, but the price may be too steep for her.

I wanted to like this story more than I did.  I enjoyed all the other books in the series, and this should have just given a different perspective, but I ended up not liking Cyrus which made me sad.  He was a gigantic ass to her, and she didn’t even pretend to play hard to get.  It really wasn’t anything new either so you can skip it without missing anything in the series.

Seduction by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washignton

3 Star

Willa is an abnormal being.  She isn't a sol or a dweller and no one really knows what she is.  Everything is changing.  She has the Abcurse brothers to help her until she doesn't and she will have to figure out her own path.

Willa finally gets the boys to break the pact.  We finally get some romance and sex in this book.  And then Willa ends up kidnapped again.  This book felt like a bridge book.  Not a lot happening until the very end and then everything happens all at once.  The ending was AMAZING but otherwise meh.  Still reading the series and want to know how it is all going to end.

Persuasion by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington

3 Star

Blesswood expects everyone to follow certain rules.  The problem Willa has never been one for rules just ask her sister Emmy.  The Abcurse brothers, Yael, Siret, Rome, Aros and Coen don't help either.  They get what they want and everyone else can shove it.  The problem is the other dwellers are starting to push back on the rules too.

This book takes up right where we left off with book 1.  This book does expand on the world and the Gods more.  I didn't like Willa's internal monologues.  It got old fast.  Once again there is no romance in the book.  The brothers actually make an agreement to treat her like one of the brothers.  Which is interesting as none of them want to treat her like a brother.  It was an ok book and I still want to find out how this is going to work out.

Trickery by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington

Minatsol there are those who have and those who don't.  If you are born without you're a dweller and will spend your life serving those better than you.  Willa was born a dweller and she was meant to serve those who could be come a God or Goddess without complaint.  She has the cursed luck and if it can go wrong it does.  The ground trips her as she walks.  When she fudges her and her sisters school scores they are sent to the main city to serve sols who might one day become a god/goddess.  Her cursed luck leads her to be put in charge of cleaning the Abcurse brothers' rooms.  They're feared by all at the academy.  She doesn't fear them but does lust after them.  Will she be able to make it out alive?

This is not your standard romance.  Which in and of itself isn't bad but it wasn't what I was expecting.  There is literally no romance in this book or anything else you would expect in a romance.  There are hints that it is coming but it didn't happen in this book.  The interplay between Willa and the Abcurse brothers was amusing.  It almost seemed like she has a death wish for the lack of fearing people she should fear.  I don't know if I necessarily liked the book but I did pick up the next one to read because I need to see how this series plays out.
