Books to the ceiling, Books to the sky, My pile of books is a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.

Cliff has been working with the Immortal Guardians for years
and he is slowly succumbing to the vampire’s insanity. Everyone is working hard to find a solution
to save him, but nothing is working. When
he saves Emma from mercenaries, she is enthralled with him. She helps keep the voices at bay and gives
him more happy days until it’s not helping anymore. He is ready to ask Sebastian to end it all
when some immortals are kidnapped, and he volunteers to go in and do whatever
he can to save them. Will they be abled
to save him?
I’ve been waiting for this book for years and was incredible
excited when I saw it was going to be coming out.The writing for this book was like all the
other books.I think my biggest issue
with the book was it reused parts of previous books without really expanding on
things I’ve already read.It did make me
cry through several parts.I also had
issue with the side stepping of how to help the vampires. The way Cliff was saved is a one off and I
still want some of the other vampires to be saved and we are still waiting on
that solution.Overall, it is a good
book.It builds on all the other books
in the series though you can read this one without reading all the other
books.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Cliff's Descent: A Vampire's Tale Immortal Guardians #11 By Dianne Duvall Releasing date: July 27, 2021 For the first time, New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers a novel--set in the "fast-paced" (Publishers Weekly) and "totally addictive" (RT Book Reviews) world of the Immortal Guardians--that revolves around a vampire… one who has become a friend and trusted ally of the powerful warriors.
Every mortal who works at network headquarters knows that vampires reside below them. They were the first to surrender to the powerful Immortal Guardians who hunt them. And they did so, hoping they can be saved, that the doctors and scientists the Immortal Guardians employ can halt the progressive brain damage that robs all vampires of their sanity. Though curious, Emma never thought she would meet any of the vampires who remain under heavy guard several stories beneath her office. Then mercenaries strike, bombarding the building with heavy artillery. The vampires are freed to join the fray… and Cliff saves her life.
From that moment on, she can't stop thinking about him regardless of the restrictions placed on interactions with vampires. When Emma discovers a way to speak to Cliff at network headquarters, she becomes even more fascinated by him. He's smart, charming, and honorable to his core despite the darkness that lies ahead. And he seems to crave her company as much as she does his. Aware of the eyes that watch them, they keep their encounters innocent, limiting them to those of mere acquaintances. Nevertheless, their attraction grows and she soon falls in love with him even as the madness begins to claim him.
Cliff realizes his future is dark. As one vampire friend after another succumbs to insanity, hope that network doctors will be able to find a cure in time to keep him from meeting the same fate begins to dwindle, leaving him little to look forward to… until he meets Emma. Just speaking to her brings him a happiness and contentment he hasn't experienced since before his transformation. And when they finally find a way to be alone together, everything changes. Emma burrows her way right into his heart and quiets the voices. She sparks dreams of a future with her that strengthen his determination to beat back the madness. But as time passes, the voices grow louder and insanity begins to chip away at him until he fears it will eradicate every part of him she fell in love with.
Will the two of them find a way to defy the odds and find their happily-ever-after? Or will Cliff's descent consume him?

Nick Belanger has been in love with his single mother
neighbor for years. He didn’t think he
could act on it because he’s an immortal guardian.Kayla Dorman has wanted her neighbor for
years but between raising her daughter and being burned by her ex-husband she
isn’t sure she wants to cross that bridge. When she nearly dies in a car accident Nick must tell her the truth and
trust her to keep his secret and maybe love him back.
I loved this story.Both
Nick and Kayla were awesome characters. The
relationship between them was so cute to see develop.I also loved seeing her reaction to all the
secrets Nick had to reveal to her.The
only thing I felt was missing was her daughter’s reaction. The pacing in the story spot on.I also liked the fact that it was a different
bad guy from the last 9 books which was a nice change.Don’t feel you need to have read all the
other books to read this one.The bits
that transferred from other books into this one were explained in short
order.However, there will be spoilers
if you go back and reread the series.Which
you should because it is an awesome series to read. Can’t wait for the next book.
Delve into an exciting new stand-alone novel in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s “fast-paced and humorous” (Publishers Weekly), “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews) Immortal Guardians series.
Nick Belanger can’t stop thinking about the single mother who lives next door. She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s so beautiful he can’t stare at her too long for fear his eyes will start to glow. But Kayla thinks he’s just an ordinary guy who works in security. Finding out he instead is a powerful immortal warrior who hunts and slays psychotic vampires for a living may not go over well, particularly since she has a daughter she doesn’t want to endanger.
Kayla Dorman can keep neither her gaze nor her thoughts from straying to the man next door. Who can blame her really? He is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome with smart, charming, and honorable thrown in. He’s also a few years younger than her and surely would not be interested in a single mom who hasn’t dated since her divorce. At least that’s what she thinks until an accident nearly takes her life and Nick risks all to save her.
The dynamics of their relationship swiftly change. The friendship they’ve developed over the years deepens into love as the two spend every minute they can together, laughing and teasing, never suspecting a threat may lurk in the shadows. But that threat soon strikes, making it clear that Nick is the target and his enemy doesn’t care if Kayla gets caught in the cross fire. Though Kayla bravely rises to the occasion and is determined to do whatever it takes to help Nick defeat his enemy, Nick is terrified of losing her. Can he identify and eliminate his new nemesis before the man takes everything from him?
Insomnia saved Roland Warbrook’s life. Professor Sarah Bingham lands herself in the middle of a battle due to not being able to sleep. When she is sees Roland staked to the ground she is determined to save him. Knocking out the two men waiting for him to die she gets him to her house. In his nine centuries Roland has never been tempted by anyone before. Betrayed by women in his past he is leery of his attraction but after bringing his trouble to her doorstep he has to take a leap of faith that she won’t betray him.
There are a lot of things thrown at Sarah all at once and she rolls with it. There is some insta love going on but there is at least some temperance of that so even though they love almost right away they don’t act on it. Sarah is also not a week woman. She has her world turned upside down and she rolls with it. At one point when she is being taken she stabs Bastion in the ass to stop him from taking her. It doesn’t stop him but she is willing to put up a fight no matter the odds.
One of the few issues I had with the story was the jumping between groups of characters. You have Seth and David with their plot with Ami. The other two jumps are between Bastion and his vampires and then the main story with Roland and Sarah. It does even out and it makes better sense with each book but with this one it was harder to follow.
Audio This book is narrated by Kirsten Potter. I adore the way this woman does voices. She brings out the different characters and personalities with her tones and nuances. She carries this throughout the series giving every one of the characters their own voice and personality. She enhances the story and made me enjoy listening to the story even more then when I read it.
