Haunted House by Heather Graham

4 Star

Kylie is woken from a vision dream by her friend Brenda needing her to help with the dead bodies in her wall.  Kylie and her FBI husband pack up and go to Salem Massachusetts to find out who had been murdering people and placing them in the walls of this house.  As they get closer to the murder they will need to keep their wits about them to stay safe.

This is a really cute short Halloween mystery.  There's ghosts, murders and a mystery to solve and it all comes together to make for a nice mystery for Halloween.  I enjoyed reading it.  I liked the Jon and Kylie as they were super cute. The only issue I could probably point to is the way they catch the bad guy.  It was a bit weird for me.  There weren't any pacing issues.  It ran smoothly and quickly to the ending which makes me want to go back and reread the other books in the series.  It is a part of a long running series that if you wanted to read all of it would give more context but isn't necessary.  This book stands by itself as I am several books behind in the series.  Overall, good addition to the Krewe series and 1001 Dark Nights collection.

Dead Heat by Heather Graham

The Dead Heat of Summer: A Krewe of Hunters Novella by [Heather Graham]

Casey Nicholson has always been a bit sensitive to the supernatural but she’s never seen a ghost.  When she sees a ghost of recently dead woman she thinks she’s losing her mind.  However, Lena needs her help to keep her daughter and sister safe.  When Casey gives the warning to Lena’s sister she is visited by an FBI agent.  FBI Agent Ryder McKinley knew his cousin hadn’t committed suicide but didn’t know how to prove it.  When a mystery woman shows up and warns his cousin about a threat he wants to know what Casey knows.  Casey isn’t sure what she can say that won’t sound crazy so she tries to make up a reason until he can convince her what she’s experienced doesn’t make her crazy.  They will need to work together to keep everyone safe and find the killer.

I enjoyed this book a lot.  It was short and sweet and you don’t have to have read the other 32 plus short stories to read this one.  I have read some not all.  Some I’ve enjoyed a lot and others I’ve not enjoyed a lot so if you want a short and very complete story this is a good choice.  The only big issue would be the insta love that happens between Casey and Ryder.  You should definitely check it out.
