Hoarded by the Dragon by Lillian Lark

4 Stars

Katarina is asked by her mentor to break in and steal an artifact. She may be out of the life, but he helped her and she feels obligated to get him what he needs. What she wasn’t planning on was stumbling into the owner of the artifact…a dragon, Kalos, who very much doesn’t want to lose any of his hoard. She has only one choice bargain with him for her life…What she wasn’t planning on was walking away from the bargain with being pregnant. Now they must learn to live with each other for the health of the dragon baby. Will they find a way to their HEA?

First the cover is gorgeous. I heard she does her own drawing and I just love that. I also loved this story. I blew through it so fast. Kalos and Katarina were bother interesting characters to learn about. They were pretty well developed. The one thing I wanted more information on was Katarina’s history. Things are alluded to about who she is and why she is the way she is, but it’s never developed. There is a lot of spice and a good bit of cuddling. The secondary characters were also well done, and I want some of them to get their own stories, so they get the HEA. I would highly recommend this book if you like this type of book.

Wicked Demands by Marley Wray

3 Stars

Camryn’s family messed up and now owes Declan a lot. She is willing to give him her virginity if it gets her family out of trouble. It’s all a transaction until someone starts targeting her and no one gets to mess with what’s his.

Declan was such an asshole through most of this book and Camryn was so strong. She is screwed over by family and taken advantage of by Declan, but she knows her worth. Declan screws up with her and makes him work for her forgiveness. Loved the groveling he ends up having to do to win her back. I need to know who the bad guy is, but it’s still not resolved.

King of Flesh and Bone by Liv Zander

3 Star

Enoch is the God of Death and has taken a break from collecting souls. Humans when they die are left to wonder the earth without rest. The only way he might consider going back to collecting souls is if he gets a wife. Ada ends up in his kingdom asking for his help and in return she will become his wife. Will they find their happy ending?

This is very much a horror dark romance. It hit all the right notes for me. The story was intriguing. I loved the villain as the love interested. The 3 stars is because of the cliffhanger ending. So tired of having to wait for the next book in a series. When I read this there was almost a year before book two was set to come out. It is now out, and review is forthcoming. I liked seeing Enoch coming out of his anger to be with Ada and then the ending where he thinks she’s betrayed him chef’s kiss. If you enjoy dark gory stories this one hit all the notes for me and was worth reading.

Quarantined by Drethi Anis

1 Star

Milo has been in love with his stepsister Raven, for years. He had her once and lost her. Now she’s home and he’s determined to have her again.

I love a good dark romance with dub/con. This was not one of them. It was straight up SA. I couldn’t get past the hero of the story assaults the heroine. Beyond this the author also jumps back and forth in the timeline which makes it hard to keep track of where we are and what the hell is going on. Beyond the story there is also the money grab the author has on this one. This one is 184 pages, and nothing really happens in it. It’s all set up. There are two more books in the series, and each is $3 so all in a $9 book. They are also all on KU and I could borrow them to finish the series but I really didn’t enjoy the first book enough to waste a spot on my check out.

Fortune Fae Academy by J.R. Thorn

2 Star

Gina doesn’t want to be controlled and she will do what she wants to keep away from those who want to control her. She sees the future and she will do what she can to stay out of her alpha’s hands. However, he also sees the future and is determined to get her and keep her. Who will win?

The book started out strong, but it soon became a tangle and I got bored and lost. Gina’s mate is an alphahole who at least at the end of this book doesn’t make things better for all the shit he puts her through. He even loops the ones who’ve loved her into his scheming and made me not like them either. I just became very frustrated with the whole book and the characters. I wanted to save Gina from all of them for the shit they did. There are two additional books and I am not interested in continuing as I am that angry.

Ruled by Magic by Zara J Black

1 Star

Lord Commander Leo Rahl gave Livet a choice, to take the 15 years in prison for exposing the magical elite or 6 months of being his toy. She opts for the 6 months figuring it won’t be that bad. He can do whatever he likes to her and there is nothing she can do. Will she regret her decision to take Leo’s deal?

So I borrowed this book twice cause I forgot I read it, that is how forgettable it is. I wanted to like it but it just came across as an abusive relationship vs a dark, BDSM esq book. I don’t usually have a problem with dark or Dub/Con but this one crossed a line. Some people might be ok with the content and there’s no judgment for my morals it crossed a line. There was a lot of public humiliation, and this would have been fine but she hated it. None of it was for her pleasure but all his. He wanted revenge on her and it twisted into love at some point but I never felt the connection. Overall, the writing style was good and I will probably give the author a second chance but this book wasn’t for me.

The King’s Omega by Merri Bright

4 Star

King Rigol has a prophecy to fulfill and he needs to find an omega. They haven’t been seen since a plague took them out. He thinks he’s found one but he has to accept Vali, who is dirty and smells horrible plus she has a cat that hates him. When he discovers the woman he thought was an omega was lying at it’s actually Vali will he be able to win her over. Will she be able to resist the Rigol’s inner circle all of whom have shown her nothing but what she needs?

I loved Vali and all of her men bar King Rigol. I felt all of her men made amends to her to her but I never felt he actually did anything to deserve her. This might be because of how he was to her cat. No one messes with the kittens. Besides that issue I loved how this book was written. It may not be the first review of omegaverse you’ve read of mine, but it was one of the first books in that genre that I read. It was different and made me fall down the rabbit hole of omegaverse. Definitely worth checking out this author and this series. It has all the feels and makes you want beat up some people for being horrible to Vali and make sure she has whatever makes her happy.
