Blazed by Elise Faber

4 Stars

After walking away from Dommie once, Walker doesn’t have it in him to leave her a second time. He is determined to make it work no matter that she thinks it is short term. Can he win her over before the past rears its ugly head and ruin everything?

I loved Dommie and Walker. The back and forth with them made me giggle so many times. The fact that Walker walked away from her previously, he had a lot to make up for in this one and he definitely does. He also had a good reason for walking away but that isn’t the point. Overall, it was a lighthearted romance with a small bit of drama but not a lot. If you’ve liked her other hockey romance books you will like this one.

Theo was happy being a single hockey player without any responsibilities. Eva is the opposite. She has nothing but responsibilities. She’s smart and talented sports blogger but when that’s not pulling in enough income, she will do what she needs to get the cash the family needs. Theo thinks she’s just a pain and doesn’t want anything to do with her until he sets aside his preconceived beliefs and gets to know her. When her secret comes out will he still want her?

I thought for sure this was going to be a 3 start as Theo was a jerk for the first half of the book but once he gets his head on straight, he's all in. Even when her secret is revealed he doesn’t do the way I thought he would, which is awesome. I also loved Eva. She's doing everything she can to be independent but also take care of her family. Their relationship is a lot of hate hookups, and I loved it. Worth reading.

Bewitched by Elise Faber

5 Star

Raph has sworn off love. Having a pack bunny pretend to be pregnant to get a commitment will do that to you. Beth has also sworn off love as she feels she's too evil to deserve it. Raph has always lusted after Beth but never gone for it as she is BFFs with his buddies. Now she's carrying twins for their friends and not taking care of herself. He sets all of his issues aside to care for her. Can she move past her history and realize they both deserve love?

I Loved this book. I want to go back and reread it right now to get the parts I'm sure I missed. I loved Beth and all her hang ups. Raph has been burned before and denies his attraction to her until he can't anymore. This one just hit all the feels for me. Plus all of the adult people in Beth and Raph's life are horrible people. Beth’s for blaming her for her stepdad's actions and Raph's for the abuse. The only part I'm hung up on was if Raph's bio mom ever told her kids Raph was their half brother. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and the epilogue with the bit for the next was quite the tease. Now to wait impatiently for the next one.

Kailey has too much anxiety to deal with people she doesn't already know. She would rather spend her day writing code. When Connor (Smitty) Smith hockey super star starts paying attention to her she very much doesn't know how to deal with him. Smitty wants her so bad. He's seen all of his friends find their forever women and that's what he wants and thinks that Kailey is it for him. Now he just need to work with her to handle her anxiety and win her over.

I suffer from anxiety and this book is so relatable. Both Kailey and Smitty have mental health issues they are working through and this is handled really well throughout the story and it's very relatable. I loved these two so much and loved seeing Kailey and Smitty get their happy ending. The only thing that left me hanging and I may have missed it was Smitty called Kailey Little Bird throughout and it was never revealed why he does this. The next book was set up that end of this one. If you are smart, I was not, you will avoid this lovely little scene as OMG I need the next book now and not in August.

Breathless by Elise Faber

Marcel had everything going for him until he caught his girlfriend hooking up with a teammate because she was bored with their life. Marcel has moved on losing himself in books and hockey. Then he met Prudence Hansley. She is everything he’s not. She is a true daredevil. Nothing is too much including swimming with sharks or jumping out of planes. He wants her and is willing to do just about anything to get and keep her.

Prudence backstory is so sad and traumatic. You really feel for her and want her to find her happy. When she finally wants to be all in Marcel comes home with someone else. It was so incredibly sad. I will say he thought they were one and done since that is what Prudence wanted, she just happened to change her mind. They work through there issues and are an incredibly cute couple. I loved the group text the rest of the team has to send gossip about them including pictures. I laughed my ass off when Marcel’s family walks in on them during some heavy petting. This was a really good addition to the series and I loved them and was happy to see them get their happy ending.

Boldly by Elise Faber

Oliver knows his hockey career is done after a bad hit from a former team mate.  He lost his leg from an infection and he's trying to get his life back on track.  When he is offered a job with the Breakers he isn't sure if it is out of pity or because they actually need him.  One of the conditions of employment is he needs to see a therapist to get over his injury.  The problem is he is sent to Hazel who he's wanted for years but she was engaged.  Now that she isn't with her fiancĂ© he wants her but it would be unethical for her to date a patient.  He is determined to prove to her that he is ok with his life change and that he is the man for her.

When I finished the first book in the Breakers series and read the end, I could not wait for this book to come out.  I literally gasped at the ending.  With this book I was looking forward to finding out how Oliver would get his happy ending and with who.  One of the things I loved about this book was the slow burn to get to the HEA.  Oliver found out that Hazel had never been romanced and decided he would romance the hell out of her.  I love that all his plans went out the window because she kept him on his toes.  When her ex confronted them I really loved what happened to him as he deserved everything that was coming to him.  Definitely a good read and fit with in the series.  This one does benefit from reading the first book but isn't necessary.  Can't wait for the next one.

He loved Lexi from the moment they met. The problem she's already married. Luc decides it's better to be friends then nothing.  Until her husband's secrets are revealed and she is free.  Luc doesn't want to push to fast but he's not willing to lose her to another.  He's all in now needs her to take him out of the friend zone.  Will he be able to make her see they are great friends but better lovers?

When this book was mentioned in one of her other books I wanted to read this one so bad. It stood up to the hype. I loved seeing Luc bring Lexi around to being more than friends. It is a slow burn but once it gets going it is very spicy. I wanted both to get their happy and they did. The ending and the lead into the second book was a hold the phone moment and I need that book right now.  Can't wait for the next one.
