A Wolf's Hunger by Asa Maria Bradley

3 Star

Dr. Laney Marconi was the darling of the supernatural community until a student made a false claim and she was fired from her job.  Now she looks for magical artifacts for hire.  She is hired to reclaim a stolen necklace from wolf shifter and billionaire Arek Varg.  The problem is the necklace isn't stolen until she takes it.  When Arek and his pack go looking for her they end up rescuing her from some very bad people.  She's not sure if she should trust them and they're not sure if she's to be trusted.  Will they trust each other to take down the bad guys?

I enjoyed the writing style and the premise of the book but I didn't like the development of the story.  It felt like they rushed through the story to get to the sex.  At one part Arek and Laney are at a party where she sees the people who were pivotal in her downfall.  It would have been nice if that scene had been expanded because it felt very brief and not fulfilling.  They rushed off for a confrontation with the bad guys so I felt like there was no real conclusion with her old life.  The book just left me wanting more and not in a good way.  Maybe it was because it was the first book in the series and the next one will be better.  I don't know.  It was an okay book.
